what is going on guys today we're going to cover a very simple topic and that is how long does it actually take to get your enlistment bonus so first things first there's you know some people who say not take your enlistment bonus in my opinion they are really dumb you are literally just like throwing away free money that you are going to get you are not gonna have to pay it back like it's that's like that's like saying hey should I Drive this car because I might die in a car wreck like it's not going to happen guys accept your enlistment bonus oh my goodness accept your listeners bonus now now that you've accepted your enlistment bonus how long is it gonna take you to get that money in your bank account because that's how it's gonna be deposited it's going to be a direct deposit in your bank account that's hardly army pays you so it kind of just goes through your laes you relieved of earning statement you're my pay the way the military pagers gonna go straight through that super simple super easy you don't really have to think about it that much but how long is it going to take and then what you kind of have to do in order to speed of the process so you may have heard that your enlistment bonus you get that after AIT and you get 50% of it after AIT and then you get 25% of it after two years and then 25% of it after four years for the two and four years for your 25% enlistment bonus those are gonna be on your anniversary day so the day that you swear in if you're in reserves and it is your ship date if you are active duty but the 50% that you were going to get the biggest you know lump sum amount or whatever that you get after AIT it is not actually like right after AIT so in the Army in the military you get paid every other week you get paid on the 1st and the 15th of every single month that Friday but that's how you're gonna get paid so let's say you know you graduate AIT on the 1st are you going to get your you know 50% of your enlistment bonus on the 15th the answer is no so what you have to do is be very proactive now I'm going to tell you guys how long it took me to get my enlistment bonus and I was pretty proactive with this as soon as I got to my unit I'm in our reserves obviously and as soon as I got there first first time back first time I saw them I asked about the enlistment bonus and how that whole process works and you are going to have to do a little paperwork you have to do a few things to actually begin that process so the first thing you need to do is talk to your unit go to your s-1 whenever you get there go to your s-1 and those are that's basically the section that's going to handle all of your financial work and everything so make sure you kind of you go there remember that although it'll be pretty obvious if you ask somebody who knows what's what's going on but you'll go there you'll figure out the paperwork and everything but that is what you need to do once you finish that it's kind of just a waiting game and for me it took about three to three-and-a-half months from that time that I finished that and it all got approved I graduated from AIT December 16th of 2015 and I got my enlistment bonus sometime around March I can't remember the exact time but I do remember it was around marks because I remember my GI Bill and stuff got approved in April it was like the month after because the GI Bill took a little bit longer you have to go through the school and everything I might do a video on that in the future because that's a little bit more of a different process but that is how long it took me and the thing is that actually might be a little bit faster than you might see if you just look up on the internet because not everybody is like super proactive so it could take like six months some people have said online that it could take a year but personally I just assumed that they didn't like ask the right questions like right away maybe they just assumed that we're just going to like happen so that is just what I'm assuming there but make sure for you you're just really proactive about it as soon as you graduate AIT you get to your unit ask about your own list of Bowness whatever you get there go to your s1 asks about that you're gonna have a little bit of paperwork and stuff to do you're gonna submit that get it all approved and everything big army is gonna see hey this person is done with the i-team's they have finished their paperwork and everything they have their bank account and everything set up we're good to go the bonus and stuff gets approved it's got all this stuff behind the scene higher level which is why it takes time and then you will get it and then once you get your first 50% of your enlistment bonus the 25% and the other 25% you don't have to worry about it at all like it's just it's just going to happen so when you hit two years on your anniversary date the I guess paid the pay week at least for me the pay week after your anniversary day is where your enlistment bonus is going to be and then also remember guys taxes are going to be taken out of your enlistment bonus so if you got a $10,000 from but it's 50% is going to be $5,000 taxes are going to be taken out and it is going to be somewhere around 4000 something so for comparison I guess for me I had a $15,000 listen bonus 7,500 was 50% and I think it was about 6200 for the like 50% lump sum I kind of just thought about this and I was like huh you know I don't think I've actually really said like how long it took me to get my list of buttons because kind of the whole premise of this channel is me talking about my experiences literally with everything about the enlistment process and I'm really surprised I don't think I've talked about this yet so yeah there you have it
