template a template is a pre-designed framework that you can use and you put things in it if you wish in other words a template is a finished product that the manufacturer provides for you that simplifies your relationship with the computer product in a way that you don't need to create an original design so a template takes away the need for you to to guess or experiment that's a template a template is a pre-designed framework that is established by the manufacturer that he gives to you free of charge perhaps with the computer and you can use it and you don't need to reinvent the wheel that's a template there is a template in the bible created by the manufacturer and that template provides for us the framework for which we are to to pray effectively where you don't need to invent a way to pray it's already prescribed for you all you have to do is put into the template your specific requirements or needs is that clear so it's important because templates take away experimentation templates cancel the need for you to guess about what to do templates make it simple actually template cancels excuses for not being able to do something effectively that's a template so we're going to talk about the kingdom template of prayer and petition and we're going to focus on the template provided by jesus i call it praying according to jesus jesus has taken away the need for you to invent a way to pray he has cancelled your excuses for not knowing how to pray and he has destroyed any sense of inadequacy in prayer he actually makes it so easy that anyone who can understand the template can pray now i will tell you something about a template though the template only provides the framework if you took a template of a memo and you wanted to send a memo to someone on a computer and you simply sent them the template what would they receive blank it'll be a nice template but they wouldn't know what you want they wouldn't know what you mean they didn't know what they wouldn't know what you'd want to say they wouldn't know what you demand they wouldn't know what you instruct they just have a beautiful template so you never send a template to a receiver why am i saying this if you repeat the template you are not using the template only the smart ones just got that if you simply use the template we still don't know what you want using a template repeating a template sending a template does not guarantee a response a template for example is like uh maybe a glass like a cup and i gave you the glass and i said to you every time you want some water you must use the template and you send it to me and you get water but you have to put in the template what kind of water you want how hot you want it how cold you want it tell me everything you want about this water and then the next day you sent me the glass what am i going to send you back the glass because i don't know what you want that's what we do with the template of jesus we give him back the template i know you're a little confused some of you because i'm this is the technical term i'm using but i'll explain in a minute all right those who are computer savvy probably knows it in other words let's really talk about what i call the prayer template of jesus because jesus gave us a template that explains procedure write that word down procedure and that is what a template provides the template simply gives you the procedure to use to get it right so you don't repeat the template you use the template for your specific needs don't send me the template put in the template would you desire the template therefore provides the procedure it provides the boundaries it provides the framework but it doesn't provide the text it doesn't provide the address of who it's going to it doesn't provide the request so using the template gets you nothing i must confess like most of you i was brought up in a religious environment where i was trained to use the template and i was told if i used this template then i could go to sleep matter of fact this template let me tell you some of the templates whether you are a rich man a poor man a fool or whether you are black or white or yellow or brown or red whether you are a drunkard a prostitute a priest a politician or an alcoholic the template can be used by all of us in other words an alcoholic could use the template and they do the politician who doesn't know god can use the template and they do the drug our dick could quote the template and the drug dealer could quote it better in other words a template can be used by anybody so the template is not the key it's content it's procedure it's even relationship am i coming through okay so let's take a look at the template of jesus in prayer in other words we want to learn to pray like jesus now jesus got answers to all of his prayers i don't think there's a doubt about the effectiveness of jesus's prayer i mean his ability to deal with problems was always successful whether it was dealing with sickness or disease or demon possession or leprosy or even speaking to the elements like the wind or the water or even talking to a tree his ability to get success in petition it's not in question which means that if you're smart you want to know how he did that anybody interested you want to know what made him so successful what did he know that made him successful matter of fact he was so successful that his best friends decided that their template was no good it was their decision that their template was not working that made them ask him teach us your template they said now keep in mind his friends that he gathered around him were very religious they were all brought up in the religious system they were all at age 12 went through bar mitzvah these 12 friends he had attended the religious centers they went to the temple every year they attended the synagogue every sabbath they knew all the scriptures but they they still were not successful using their template so they said to him we want to know your template let's read where they requested help it's found in luke chapter 11 verse 1 you cannot read this verse without a context of a little bit of can i use the term the history of this context because i tell you a few things about jesus christ that need to be known to understand this verse first of all jesus was always habitually getting up early in the morning those of you who read the four gospels like i have and continue to do will remember that the bible specifically said some things about jesus christ concerning prayer let me quote a few of them jesus it says about jesus and rising early in the morning as was his custom now what is a custom a habit okay so right away we know that whatever this thing is he does is a habit it says as was his custom he rose early every morning and he went to a quiet place to pray now to understand the statement though you have to understand the term early in the morning i have been going to israel as i said a few times for over 30 years every year i think i only missed about three years in 30 years go to israel every year so i have a little bit of experience in regards to the culture of the middle east and the culture of israel and the culture of the people i also have learned a little bit about the culture of how they measure days in the culture of the middle east and the hebrew days are not measured by time they are measured by the sun are you with me okay for example when you talk about the day a day can end at six o'clock not twelve midnight so if if they told you uh we are going to be with you for one day they can actually leave at 6 30 because they measure the day by the sunset like for example the word shabbat means to rest the sabbath day could actually end not at 12 midnight when they say keep the sabbath it can end at six o'clock or 6 45 whenever the sun sets the day is finished now you can you free from the sabbath are you with me so you have to change your mind when the bible says he woke up a good while before a day i'm quoting what the bible says then day in the middle east usually begin at sunrise the sun in the middle east rises around 3 a.m okay so now we got to calculate this a good while before day so a good while could be an hour maybe two maybe three but one thing we do know is that he got up around somewhere between 2 am and 4 am now when does the work day begin in the middle east the work day begins around 7 00 a.m that's when people go to the markets they take their sheep and goats to get sold they go to do merchandising around seven o'clock so now we calculate from two o'clock to seven o'clock how much time is that okay so we could assume that jesus did this thing whatever he did the minimum would be three hours possibility five i'm getting at something here so the bible says as was his custom he arose a great while before day and went to a quiet place to pray two o'clock is when we just getting into our snoring by four o'clock we hit our stride no one can touch us now that means while you were sleeping he's doing this thing he called prayer now he did this according to the scriptures as a custom which means every morning he woke up it was a habit let's read this verse now in that context it says one day jesus was praying in a certain place notice the period after that because the next is a different thought when he finished one of his disciples said to him lord teach us to pray because john also taught his disciples how to pray his style can i put it that way okay a couple of things here the disciples well no let me go back i read the four gospels so many times i might even talk about it and i couldn't find anywhere in the four gospels where jesus ever prayed with his disciples there's no record in the book where jesus prayed with them no record the bible always says he went aside or he would tell them wait here while i go yonder or he would the bible say he ran into the mountain alone now don't get me wrong you know he might have prayed with them we don't know but the bible has no record of that it always says that his prayer life was a private personal habit i wonder if you got one of those let me ask you a question don't answer the question could you fast like this by yourself or do you need a corporate environment to encourage you to do this so the reason why we love this is because past them out doing it with you but what about you can you do this by yourself and then pray every day and then have bible study every night by yourself on your own consecration that's the question i love corporate prayer because i get to encourage you and we get to inspire each other and we get to you know remember that other people are going through the same things we go into so we we get motivation and that's good and that's why i do this to encourage you but i am praying that this will become a custom now let me explain what was going on here the way it's written is very interesting he was praying they were watching how do i know read the verse again it says he was praying in a certain place when he finished that means they were waiting until he was finished then they said to him master you know this thing you do every morning at least four hours uh teach us how to do this in the entire four gospels the disciples never asked jesus to teach them to do anything now he did a lot of things and they watched him they were even present even made them a part of the miracle sometime when he would actually give them the bread and tell them break it these guys saw some stuff they saw him talk to trees and walk on water and speak to the wind and cast out demons and heal the sick and raise the dead and stop a funeral this guy did some stuff and they never said teach me how to stop the wind the question is why did they accept to teach them only one thing the answer is what i call inductive deductive logic what does that mean they induce something and then they deduce something big words eh in other words they observe something and they came to the conclusion this is related to that it's called inductive deductive logic they begin to think now they've been with him for three and a half years okay so they saw a lot of stuff and they said you know something uh there's something about his behavior and his system that is very strange he spends four hours doing this thing but then he comes down and he does this thing in four seconds you get it he heals a man in four seconds but stays with god in the morning for four hours he spends four hours doing this thing and he spends four seconds casting out a demon now you know we from the bahamas they say and we from bay in town and we have a little jump at church and we try to cast some demons off before and we took three days come out come out loose fine you lose them said what do you want to lose or buy i mean come on we should come out i mean now you take over let me just come over and you've got 10 people trying to cast a demon out for 40 hours he does it in 40 seconds so the disciples figured it out wait a minute what has taken us 40 hours he does in 40 seconds but he does this thing in the morning for four hours so this thing must be more important than that thing and it seemed to me they said if you do this thing then you'll be able to do that thing it seemed to me they said if you spend more time doing this thing you spend less time doing that thing inductive deductive so they said don't teach how to do this thing teach you how to do this thing because obviously if you're learning this thing then you can do that thing he agreed now there's a word i want you to write down it's the word teach don't take this lightly he they they ask them teach us how to pray let me tell you why that's an important statement write this down please this is very important all right the request means a few things number one it means that prayer is not automatic so you've been taught by your religion that if you come to christ confess him as lord believe in your heart heroes from the dead and by faith receive the holy spirit then you just go ahead and live a life for god and then you just pray and you ask the person how should i pray this oh just talk to god they say you ever heard that prayer is just talking to god absolutely not true or they may say pray you know just let the lord know what you need it's as if they think prayer is natural prayer cannot be automatic if he responded to them and said i will teach you which means that what you're doing could be wrong and you could have been doing that for 40 years praying wrong in other words praying long and praying wrong gets the same result nothing sweating while you're doing something wrong still gets no result staying up all night doing it wrong like all night prayer meetings still don't get the results it doesn't matter how much you scream doing something wrong or how you moan or how you go jesus if you do it wrong all you get is tired no result are you feel you with me so you could have in other words you could stand at a door with a with a lock if the door's locked and you can be there for 10 days with the wrong key the length of time doesn't change the key speaking in tongues don't change the key quoting versus over the door don't change the key moaning groaning don't change the key you got to get the right key i must be honest of course you all never did this but i grew up and i went to many online prayer meetings and do you know what made me so proud i made it to the sunrise without sleeping and i bragged about that and i went around telling everybody i prayed all night cut anything sound like disciples say we fished all night and caught i rest my case it's possible to pray all night and get nothing and the disciples at least were honest they said you know what we do in master is not working and we were taught this in the synagogue number two it means that prayer must be taught people think that why would you have a prayer consecration and then teach every night because we don't just want you to come here make noise and don't get results rolling on the floor and shouting and all this stuff don't get nothing except a dirty body on a sore throat one time jesus said they think they will be heard because of their much speaking thirdly it means prayer must be learned if i have to teach you something that means you don't know it fourthly it means petition is a process he says i'm going to show you how notice the question teaches what how how means there is a way there's a process to do this he said i'll show you how and fourthly fifthly rather he was telling them that that in order for you to have success you have to like a lawyer you have to learn procedure so this this question teaches how means teach us the procedure that makes prayer successful and so his response was interesting he said i will teach you so he was telling them there is a template i'm going to give you the pattern what is a template a pattern the template is not the real thing i'm gonna correct something tonight and i hope i don't get in trouble for this because religious people are amazing you know they always got rocks in their pockets listen this is not the lord's prayer okay take your rocks put them down please don't stone me this is the lord's template for you to pray to me friends they didn't say pray for us they said you teach us how to pray there's a difference so don't call this the lord's prayer this is the lord's template this is his framework this is his structure for effective petitioning before your father are you with me now how often have you heard this and of course you know it happens all the time i know you know our religion has done a great job doing this they'd say okay a a guy would pray and then he would say now let us pray the lord's prayer and then even the drunkard who half cut would pray the prayer the guy who high on dope and the fellow who got ten sweethearts i pray in the prayer and everybody's standing in that group half of them don't know jesus they say our father who art in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom and the people don't even know who's the father you see they think that praying it is the prayer it's not a prayer it's a template so don't call it the lord's prayer call it the lord's temperate plate for us to pray not the question will teach us he's like i'm gonna teach you here's the template here's how here's the procedure you asked me how i'm gonna show you how i'm gonna do it for you i'm gonna show you how you want to do it hey buddy with me yes so i think it'd be helpful to remind ourselves what prayer is the word prayer again means petition very important way it means petition what is the petition the word prayer in the bible is not a religious word it is a legal word if those of you study hebrew you go and look it up the word is petition a petition is a legal appeal or demand on a government based on constitutional rights protected by law that's a petition a petition can only be made by those in good standing with the government so where there is no relationship with the government you can't make a demand have you noticed that when a person goes to jail they take your passport do you know why take your passport because you have no more privileges sometimes we don't know the power of our passport passport means you are a legitimate citizen i'm sure those of you who go to open a bank account now they ask for your passport they want the phrase four pages why they won't know if you look legitimate to get into the system petition means you can make a demand as a citizen based on guaranteed rights this is why it is a procedure very important now this last one please write this down very important here petition means reminding a government of what is constitutionally promised to its citizens please write that down this is what prayer is a petition is reminding a governing authority of what is constitutionally promised it's citizens i don't think that most people in this room understand the power they have as a citizen and most governments don't want you to find out because they are afraid of you discovering your power the constitution protects your right to petition the government this is probably why politicians makes promises but they make sure it is not constitutional in the promise is not constitutional i just said something important because once it's constitutional you could actually petition them to demand it to do it and if they don't you can actually turn the law on them and put them in prison so this word constitution is important the constitution gives you the right to make the demand this book we call the bible is a constitution it is always given by the authority of the government by law and the constitution is more powerful than the government i wish i had more time to talk about this this is so deep the bible says god says i have placed my word above my name the word name actually means being in hebrew now quote it again i have placed my word above my name the word name means what being i quote it again i've placed my word above myself that means i made my word more powerful than me let me put it another way i will cease being who i am if i break my word you got to give god a praise that's why god swore he said heaven and earth will pass away every planet will be destroyed if i break one of my word you know do you know why that's important because once you learn his word you can put pressure on him the power of petition is knowledge write it down if you don't know your rights you cannot petition if you don't know the constitutional promises you cannot petition if you do not know what's promised to you you cannot demand it so your ignorance is your greatest enemy not the government my people are not destroyed because of the devil they're not destroyed because of some demon or something he said you destroyed because of what a lack of knowledge and that means knowledge of what's supposed to be yours by right may i add tell your neighbor i'm going to stop being stupid oh hallelujah the problem with you not you the one right behind you i'm talking to you don't take this personal is that you don't read the bible you don't know the constitution matter of fact i think we read the constitution by preferences we prefer psalm 23 the lord is my shepherd we forget psalm 19 or 38 or 150. we just don't know them can you tell me the promise in zephaniah chapter five can you tell me the promise in habakkuk 2 verse 17. can you tell me the promise god made to you in in uh in micah chapter one verse six no you can't even find michael you think mike is a girl somewhere you have no idea and so here you got this big constitution and don't even know your own rights because you can't know your own promises you don't read the bible to be religious you read the bible to be legal that's why it's called the law of god it's not the devotion of god oh boy you don't read the bible devotions i know it's nice and everything when you pick it up you keep looking for where's the promise where's the promise in this verse where's the promise in this world i gotta find the promise or the privilege or the right look for three things what do you look for the promise the privilege or the right that is why you read the constitution you want to know the promise the privileges and the rights you have because it's that knowledge that makes you a powerful citizen read the bible man read it for yourself don't let no pastor read no bible for you no parents or spouse you get to know that constitution yourself you are a citizen of the country called heaven and you have to know your rights [Applause] our prayer lives is only as good as our knowledge of the constitution so he proceeded to teach them let's read the answer he he has his answer to the question lord teach us how to pray he responded this then is how he didn't say pray this oh man i'm going to give you a template don't repeat this use this as a template this then is how you should petition and he begins first let's say together our all but i just want to give you a little taste of how how we don't understand the template what's the first part read it out loud our father who is in heaven hallowed be thy name thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven okay he begins first of all here's a template the first thing template is our father now our father is important the word our is inclusive he says when you begin to approach the courtroom to make your plea before the judge who has the responsibility to give you your rights he said whenever you do that do not bring your personal needs bring people with need my mortgage paid i got to say who are you what are you doing the template is already broken he said when you approach the courtroom of heaven to make your petition bring everybody with you our you ain't selfish no more i was going to say another way but it wouldn't come out right it's not at the end but you know it's amazing we are so selfish we shut the template down right at the beginning father that jesus used the word abba those who went to israel with me over the years you will hear the little kids on hotel calling their daddy abba it's a common word in hebrew they still use it all day today every now all the kids call that daddy abba is not a name abba is a function abba is a a description all males that have children are called abba so abba so father cannot be a name hello you got millions of fathers alba's in the world billions so it can't be a name past richard is a father and i am a father so we can that can be our name so when you say god my father that's not a name that is a function and the word abba means first of all source so jesus when you come before him you can't be by the way i want you to put this in just put it in your mind randy i want you to go to the courtroom downtown right do this in your mind go to courtroom in your city wherever you live go to your court from downtown right now and i want you to walk into the courtroom and imagine the courthouse full of people there's a judge with a big black robe on up there there is the jury over here and you're sitting in that courtroom and you come to get your rights from the government and you got yourself a lawyer his name is the holy spirit he's a counselor you also got your witness jesus sitting over there in the witness stand and you got this big church who controls what you get and guess what you address him as the source that's a serious situation let me tell you something think about this okay the judge normally is not the one in your courtroom who is the source of everything so this courtroom is set up in your favor because whenever the judge meets out to you he also provides it i'm gonna shout out by myself you're sleeping let me say it again when the judge decides to to render what's the word you use doc judgment whatever he says he will make sure you get it there's no compliment in the world like this courtroom see normally the call from the judge will say okay you have to pay her five thousand dollars and so the judge said you better go find it and pay her in this courtroom he said you pay her and here's the money you better shout right here this judge will say look i according to your case rendered judgment that he should be healed so censorship be healed here's healing he also provides what he judges give him a big praise tonight say it our father our source so when you come to petition before god jehovah you are coming to the source of whatever you are about to demand no wonder why john said when you pray pray according not to your will no your list pray according to his will who will the judge sit in them there he says and if you pray equal bashante according to his will sitting in that chair you know that he hears you oh i'm getting excited now he says i finished it he says and if you know that he hears you then you also know that you have that which you petition why because if he hears you everybody say hearing i can't hear you they say have your case had a hearing yet you ever heard that if he hears you that automatically means that you already have give him a praise some of y'all uh listen this is such a setup oh come on i see tabla listen all you gotta do is pray according to his will now you mean the courtroom you say i don't know what his will is his will is in his head okay so what he did was get out of the bible he took his will and put it on paper so you got no excuse he said now come back and just remind me you don't need to invent prayers his will is his word his word is his will let me just say something to you please in a minute we're going to pray listen to me please don't try and impress god pick up your bible turn to the book of psalm if you ain't sure where to turn find some promises and lay it on them cards and say lord i'ma pray this promise on these cards why because i'm praying according to your will and if i pray according to your will then you hear me and if i get a hearing then i also know that i have received that which i ask please don't try to impress god because i promise you you're going to run over the words there's enough words that last you all your life can i hear an amen matter of fact i got a good suggestion for you this wonderful prayers i pray you turn to psalm 91 and pray that all night okay everybody turn the same psalm and pray come from different listen bombard the the the judge's bar i want you to bombard it tonight same chapter you want to see heaven get excited tonight if everybody started praying psalm 91 back to god tonight i mean just i'm talking about young and old black and white big and small fat and thin you pray to sin to god you said this listen i know i'm talking about we try to impress god oh thou almighty omnipotent wise god i know thou art busy but if thou canst lend thine heir to this humble servant whom thou art saved by your grace i'm a sinner say by grace hallelujah if thou can just bend thine air down to earth that i may hear the prayers of thy people oh lord god i know that you may not be able to do it but please lord if you can't find the mercy in your heart will you please just give us a little bit to eat lord god's saying what's wrong with you are you trying to impress me pray back to me my word my beloved pastor come stand with me i'm going to finish nothing else so i'm just going to quit all right hold this microphone this is uh pastor meredith store he is a lawyer a very good lawyer i'm going to ask him some questions about how to petition in a courtroom he and i have not rehearsed this okay mr store what does the court use as a foundation for all of its activities the procedures what is what does it use if we use the supreme court the supreme court has rules and for each various thing you want to do there's a rule that you quote what is the document that every court must use for all of its activities in addition to the rules you have the the statute laws that you will be following where are they from well they're in the laws of the bahamas and so you will quote whatever section you need that's relevant to your case and where are they from well the constitution is the basis of it that's what i want here see okay so the foundation of all activities in a court is the constitution correct good now when the judge hands down a judgment where does that judgment have to relate from well the constitution is a supreme law but the judgment may quote specific laws under the constitution okay so from the constitution good now when the lawyer comes before the judge to make a case on behalf of a client what does the lawyer have to use as a framework a foundation to get that case won the lawyer always has to use either the actual constitutional law or case law that has been previously decided based on the constitution before i hear that that's important okay if a client or sorry if a witness understand who demanding their rights begin to become hysterical and cry and weep what does the judge normally do adjourn the court what does that mean for those laymen stop the proceedings until things calm down oh jesus gossip stop the case can you tell me why they do not entertain that kind of activity in the court because it's not based on the law say it again it's not based on say it again it's not based on the law okay okay i'm gonna give you all permission to shout in the court okay but if you're shouting the court make sure i shout the constitution shout the law yeah now last question why does a client normally need a lawyer because the client doesn't all well the client doesn't know the law necessarily and the client doesn't understand the procedure to use in the court two things first one the law okay everybody hold your bible up say lord i'm in trouble okay wait you don't know the law what's the second one procedures that you say lord i don't know the procedure and that is the template that's the template the procedure let me add a last question what happens if the if the lawyer does not follow procedure lawyer doesn't follow procedure he can either heal either one lose the case or possibly also be found in contempt of court say this slow again please i want you all to hear this if you don't follow procedure what happens number one potentially lose the case okay stop right there that means all this prayer you've been praying for your rent for the last five years you've been praying for god provide your rent and you think because you asked for it you got it you keep losing cases because you ignore the procedure what the second half thing happens if you don't have another procedure i mentioned contempt and the reason why i define contempt for our lay people please it means that the the court or the judge will determine that your violation the procedure is so egregious that he may send you to jail okay you all right dad say it again because they didn't get a revelation on this one when when when a lawyer is contempt of court what is that what happens so egregious in there a violation of the procedures of the court isn't it uh the judge can send them to jail or find them significantly now think about this now you in the court you you the one who have a right to get what you supposed to get you are a citizen but you don't know the procedure you are supposed you have a right to get what you're supposed to get and you go to jail that don't make no sense in your head there's a further reason for that oh please tell him another one the judge is often not sympathetic to a lawyer because the law is supposed to know the main thing is that the judge would be sympathetic to her clients because the client doesn't know that's why he brought in a lawyer but there's no sympathy for a lawyer who should know you all hear that someone said how long it's been in jail some of y'all know just how long it's been a long time since you got a blessing okay so let me say one thing to you the bible says pursue the word of god like treasure dig for it like gold hide it in your heart don't let the word of god leave your mind he says tie it on your hand tie it on your head put it on your air teach it to your children put it on the doorpost in other words he don't want an ignorant lawyer so there's one last thing yes esquire in court ignorance of the law is no excuse i said it again please loud please now this one is so
