hey signers welcome to k l i mean learn how to sign if you didn't know our channel used to be called k l family time if you were here with us in those days let us know in the comments we actually have a video explaining the transition from k l to learn how to sign and you can watch it here or i'll link it in the description anyways welcome to learn how to sign right now we're in part five of our six video series of 150 essential signs in asl today we're going to learn how to sign questions and time signs if you want to learn how to put these signs into sentences stick around to the end and we'll do just that as always be sure to like subscribe and be notified let's learn how to sign some of the 150 essential signs in asl [Music] the words who what when where why which and how require your eyebrows to go down when you're asking a question also with all of these wh words they are signed at the end of an asl sentence so let's learn how to sign questions four four four four your finger is flicking out from your forehead asking like what's that for or why is that four four who or who i like to think of an owl going who or who what what your five hands are kind of bent in together moving in and out what when when think of the hand of a clock moving around when where where your index finger is searching like a compass where's north where why or why you're wiggling or it's pulling out to a y hand why or why which which it's like you're balancing which one you prefer which how or how you're doing the sign how but make sure that your eyebrows are down because it's a wh question how how how much how much your hands are throwing up into the air how much before we start to learn time it's important to note that when you sign time in asl it's at the beginning of the sentence but if you don't sign any time at all it's implied that it's in the present tense so i think it's time that we learn how to sign some signs about time again or repeat your dominant hand is coming into the middle of your hand again or repeat always always your hand is making a big circle in the air always never never now when you're doing this make sure that your head shakes back and forth never noon noon the sun is directly above you at noon noon time time you're just pointing to your watch time minutes or minute this is like the clock and this is the minute hand minute or minutes hour hour your finger is going around the whole clock as in the minute goes around in an hour hour past past your body is a timeline and this is going back behind you referencing to the past past future future your hand is coming out from your cheek moving forward future day day you're doing the letter d hand showing the sun going through the day day week week it's like your calendar is in your hand and it's drawing a line across the whole week week month month looking at a calendar you're going down looking at the whole month month year year imagine this is the sun and this is the earth going around in one year year so let's jump into our bonus content and learn how to put these in sentences what time is it time what that wh word is at the end of the sentence it's 3 15. you're doing the sign 3 coming from your watch and the number 15. see you next week see week future how much time do you need time need how much and remember your eyebrows are going down with the how much when will you be home home arrive when again that wh sign is at the end of the sentence i'll be home at nine o'clock i arrive home nine i and remember this nine o'clock is coming from your wrist showing the time i can't believe it we're only one video away from finishing our 150 essential signs in asl you are doing great remember keep practicing these every day you can do it and remember if you're looking for specific signs check out our website learnhowtosign.org and until next time keep learning how to sign
