from signatory vintage an independent body independent butler that's a company which buys casks and pitchers them for a different time probably shorter or longer then the original distillery typically does and then fills its fill fills it in its own bottles with its own labels and well then it's called independent bottles this is a series of independent bottles which as is quite huge there are several dozens of different single malt whiskies from different distilleries available from signatory vintage and there are also several series of whiskies and this one is the uncial filtered collection that means as it said the whisky is not chill filtered is also not colored not artificially colored and this one is well particularly old it's 17 years old vintage 1997 and it's quite affordable between 40 and 50 euros dollars pounds whatever this is not a single cask whiskey no this is a mixture of two casks in particular two hogsheads and hogsheads are a little bit bigger than the typical ex bourbon barrels standard american standard barrels which contain 52 gallon I think 208 litres and in former times these ex bourbon casks were dismantled in the staves and the Rings were shipped to Scotland and his Scotland they were put together again and fitted with new rings and their one when you factored a little bit bigger casts so that there are 250 liters in the hogshead so out of four American Standard barrels they produced three hogsheads and this was done this dismantling ended I think in the mid-80s because labor became more expensive and it was and the freight rights for containers from the u.s. to Great Britain reduced and reduced a lot and so it was cheaper to ship full casks and so these Hawks has must have been filled before first time as manufacturing that has barrels as experiment barrels there was per minute then they were built to Hawks hats and then filled with first whisky for a decade and after that those hogsheads were filled with this daily Wayne Mott whiskey and this was done in 1997 exactly on the 24th of May 1997 and it was put in the cast at the 5th of May 2015 and was two hogsheads 7180 seven and seven thousand 118 Naren and this is the bottle 292 of yeah unknown number of models out of those two casts and I guess around 500 550 maximum 600 46% ABV due to the uncial filtering otherwise would turn cloudy there are several different bottlings from the rain from signatory vintage on the market because signatory vintage bots a lot of casks after lorry a full lorry load in May 1997 from tulane and now they always bottle to cast to have an leverage and average of the taste and when the casks are gone then the next tools are bottled and so on until well the last casks are finally gone 10 Wayne is a workhorse of the biggest alcoholic beverage company in the world called the agile and this workhorse they have six parcels and they produce for the blended whisky industry and if I remember right and there is only there's no official bottling of terrain on the markets but a flora and fauna bottling which is close to the official bottling because the fauna flora and fauna series belongs or is owned by the producer de hecho terrain is situated in the space I'd and well our first sniff very fruity the real space Ida fresh little citrus fruit genus not too sour not this sad rests but something between a siren and an orange more on the side of this OS address yeah a wonderful lovely fruity impressive aroma there's very little of the cask in the back well the shows that there has been another whiskey before in those casks and therefore the whisk is also that light after yeah nearly 18 years so from the 24th of May until the 5th of May close to 18 years why do not have waited for the fortnight and butter then they could have shown 18 years on the bottle well that doesn't matter in the taste and the vintage that's the point they are doing here and the real age well if it's 14 days more or less who cares yeah-ha an intense spiciness is coming up a little bitterness oakiness voix very intense aftertaste and this shows the vanilla and the caramel from those casks are already missing well that the berm took out a lot of that and the following whisky the first fill took the rest Dora a good part of the rest and then 17 years of this spirit and then they will extract a lot of tannins from the cask and those tenants happen to be a little bitter and showing these dark chocolates the extreme spiciness quite a long aftertaste and this whiskey has well two sides a lovely friendly fresh fruity beginning in the aroma and then a hefty bitter spicy taste going well in a long aftertaste with all those intense aromas from the oak very little vanilla coming up yes that's it for today thank you
