hello everyone it's tom the taxi driver and i haven't got a bloody clue where i am from north wembley area i had a job come up on free now so i'm off to a blinding start already 42 quid and it's i've only just gone past midday you know i normally wouldn't expect to get a job till about one o'clock two o'clock on a bank holiday monday like this so we'll see what the day holds for us paddington love driving on the worst way yeah yeah you've gone pete two to um your your involvement in um we've got ten times that many of you so it's like no worries [Music] what is so nice north kensington but my car's down here yeah and we've lived here for 22 years and it's the first we came back yesterday from a few days away it's the first time we've been here ever since we've lived here yep without it day now bye-bye and that's what i'm talking about in this job i can go and spend that now isn't that great or you can power off your debts depends how bad you are with your money absolutely down the line because i am a straight runner yeah and that's it and i'm i've been empty for some about an hour now uh those two sort of big jobs start me off 142 pounds one at 17 pounds and um yeah there's just not much activity going on don't know why probably best seeing other cabs with people on but it doesn't necessarily always roll for you like that chelsea park gardens no worries [Music] [Music] glued to their sat nav they won't see them they'll knock them down the kids don't realize that an old man my ranting and raven and then you have the toilet every five seconds i nearly missed that look temporarily shut and what's going to be gone forever like some of my favorite some of my favorite boozers are like gone i'm like are they going to be open again or what electric pistol not very long to be honest i cheat right because there's a um a petrol generator underneath the bonnet yeah so basically you top up with petrol and then it just keeps the battery alive so every now and again it will kick in like when i'm driving budget yeah it runs on pure electric only lasts about 60 miles it depends on your charger like there's fast street charges to take an hour um or you can plug it in at home like in your main socket sounds crude as but uh yeah plug it in your main socket takes about 11 hours yeah that one was um westminster and then there's the west west county hall westminster and then you guys waterloo did you say yeah oh you said waterloo's you're going in oh let's take you back around yeah yeah i'll see you don't worry about uh we won't go no more than that don't worry we've done the tours of the park plazas now what have one should we go see lambert so not county or westminster then yeah [Laughter] wicked walking over done so let me let me put out the nine quid for playing because it's my fault um but in that case it was clearly their fault but you know given the benefit the doubt it's only around the corner it's not too much hassle for me to quickly swing back around there ain't worth an argument for like say three quid look at it this way if they'd have said it right and i went to the park plaza westminster it would have only come to 90 quid so i haven't you know missed out on anything really i've driven a little bit further beyond it's been a little bit of an inconvenience but like i say they were they were walking they were tired so just give them the benefit of the doubt you know what's it really worth i think that pushes me to about 97 pounds just shy of a hundred quid four hours it's it's these cyclists now come on you've got a giggle i mean look at him he's got he's got all the gear like all the color matching gear he's got a wicked bike as well look at that someone's got gears on every single speed or not i can't tell if he's got gears it's definitely got a free up body of some kind on it sounded pretty nice when he came past look at that frame that's got to be a few grand worth of bite there about three grand right he's got his silly sighting camera but he's not wearing a helmet i just don't get that you can tell he's a he's a mad clean cyclist look how massive his calves are but all the gear no idea about wearing a helmet you know i mean you've got clippings even that's ridiculous if you fall over with clippings and you you're still stuck clipped in and you don't react like take your hands and sparkle enough bang your head's on the floor you're gone you're out oh cool loads better loads better i can think now find out where i'm gonna drive to and uh [Music] what i'm gonna do [Music] i can't really do anything here that'd be the lighter queen's lifeguards and then the other ones are royals and blues so when they've done the dress when they do the dress down the whole idea of that at four o'clock is that that that entrance actually guards the entrances in james's palace it goes back to queens at the time of it queen victoria and it came to be when they got off the duty at four o'clock queen victoria came down and saw all these guards that were playing cards getting drunk just having a bit too much fun basically not looking after the entrance so she said right for a hundred years i'm gonna put a punishment in place that you have to all be inspected at four o'clock to make sure you're not drunk you're not playing cards you are at your post you're doing what you're supposed to be doing and i think that that 100 years lapse during queen elizabeth in like 2010 or something like that but she said let's keep traditions traditions and keep it going [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] activity going on in town that really helps out yeah you come out here there's no work out here if it was rocking in town you know you'd be like oh why am i being pulled out here you might think yeah 35 quid job but in that case he tipped it so i went to 40 which is quite nice but then you could get back into town you know and um if it's busy in town you'd rather be just knocking out the 20 quid jobs you could be straight onto your deferred 20 quid job by now maybe but no i'm not going to scoff at it because that's a pretty nice job [Music] yeah i've had to sort of nip over covent guard and normally you'd go through the middle of it but they've shattered the streets because of the cover 19. you normally just wiggle through a carving garden that's charring across and you're there but it's just we'll be right once we through these lights it's not too bad today what i'll do guys is literally just on the corner there but i'll pull over here just gives us a bit of space to otherwise i block that road otherwise not a problem yeah sure things should be ready for you now thanks for that see you laters 1580 1080 plus the tip i think that puts me on about 152 so we're clawing it back a bit five and a half hours when it comes to like counting money and things like that i never actually used to keep track of how much money i would take when i come out in the cab and like i don't know you'd phone up like how much you want how much you want and stuff like that and i think it stems back to when i used to work in the shop like because it would just it would only ever lead you with disappointment or false hope really you don't really want that to spoil you you know like if you keep track of like oh i've already had a really really good start that allows you to slack off for the rest of the day if you if you're counting you will then start framing a target where it's best not to think of a target just think of the next job it's something i feel all guilty of quite regularly now and also it's just a lot of mental capacity just having to think about you know counting up your money every day you know just stay for your hours focus on the next job forget about the last job and keep going really i thought it was like you know when people say like i don't know like me and fiona are always cool you know where people talking like mean words you know what i mean like so yeah this morning he's bragging about it being rape free you know those two big jobs have really sort of set up the pace for most of my day eight jobs in six hours so it's not great by any stretch of the imagination normal times i could expect about 12 jobs for that sort of period still pretty hard out here [Music] oh thank goodness yes yes yes [Music] [Music] i wanted to drop you here i can get a bit pretty good uh place to go just just knowingly you know the most real food you can get put my super joe 90 glasses on these are good like these because they're uh just they just take the edge off of cool that's great thank you thank you so you can go hours with nothing followed by uh you know a mega couple of hours where you're busy or like then i've just come out from something to eat bang pretty much straight away i've got a hand and i'm on to a job again because a lot of people just imagine okay 16 hours you know times your hourly rate i could earn like 500 quid in a day or something like that or whatever number they pluck out of thin air and i know we're in a pandemic at the moment so things are a little bit slower but even pre-covered times it wouldn't always roll the way you wanted it to roll you would have like an hour where you knock out like three four jobs like really quickly and you think oh my god like everyone in the world wants a cab and then you'll go two hours without a job and that's what these videos i'm trying to do with these videos so hopefully i can communicate that well in the edit you know i'm out here i've been out for eight and a half hours now so my plan is now it's 20 past eight i'm gonna wiggle through the west end a little bit maybe nine o'clock ten o'clock people start finishing meals and things like that but i'll have a little wiggle through you know traverse him north west and then if i don't get much luck i'm just gonna head head north at the connaught hotel there's quite a few cars parked outside so it could be busy it'd be a good chance to stretch the old mystics here we go you might have me a job let's see who's walking over street no [Music] worry [Music] cool there we go yeah because the kobe closes this is as close as always forget to do that drive right there is just any time of day always keep his doors locked and would always insist on interviewing the passenger at the window before they got in and that's pretty it's a pretty good bit of advice really because you pick up some of the day doesn't mean they're not going to be aggro or hassle so yeah do it with time obviously at night you your chances that increase as people get a bit drunk or whatever um so yeah it's just best to keep them locked because once you get them in can't get them out but hopefully i'm not gonna be about much longer i'm
