are you confused about reading files in Java did you even know it was possible well if you watch this video you'll know exactly how to read in a file and even export those contents into a new file what's up it's alex back again helping you learn java on this channel I make Java tutorials just like this every week so if you're new here consider subscribing here's how to read a file in Java first you open the file next you read the first line you read the second line and you read all the way down until the last line so first make a new Java project we'll just call it our file reader okay finish we'll throw a class in here by right-clicking going to new class and we'll name it file reader 3000 because 3000 is way cooler than just file readers we'll say public static void main and hit finish step one is to read in the file and it's really easy to read a file in Java they do it for you let's tell Java we want to open a file by typing file name our file just file with a lowercase and we'll say equals a new file just like that there are some red lines just hover over it and click this import file Java dot IO and that'll tell Java hey we're going to be using a file opener to use it we pass in the path of the file as a string if you want to learn about strings I made a video on it'll be on the screen now if you let check that out I have an example file that you can use and that is at this URL so let's open that up paste it in here and this is just a sample text file with a bunch of lines that we're going to put into Java to save this just right-click on the webpage and click save as I'll save that onto my desktop for simplicity sake let's go back into eclipse and now we just need to give it the path one way to get the file path for me I'm just going to do get info and right here is that path users Alex Lee desktop so go into Java I'll say users Alex Lee desktop their capital D desktop in the name of the file is capped and my DN dot text so that's step one read in the file step two was to read the first line and to do that we create a scanner since it's called the scanner we'll bring that scanner in we'll call it scan equals new scanner just like that da equals da da and we'll import it just like before this is just telling Java hey we're gonna be using your scanner you built for us a scanner scans across each line in something this could be the console when you type in something it...
