hi everyone i'm kirsten heim thank you for joining me for your january 20th acl weekly update last week the january apple core was delivered within this issue conservation commission chair paula weiner discusses the updated bluegill creo limit for the bigger better bluegill program the new creo limit is simple and easy to remember only eight over eight as in only eight bluegills over eight inches may be kept out of the 25 total daily limit lake consultant joe rush wrote a supplemental article titled bluegill reproductive behavior on page 40 of the apple court that highlights the importance of this program as it relates to bluegill reproductive patterns the 2021 assessment packets were mailed out just under two weeks ago within this packet you should have received voting instructions and a ballot to vote on the 2020 amended and restated declaration and bylaws the legal commission is asking that you cast your vote by mail dropbox at the office electronically online via electionbuddy.com or scan in your vote signed by the voting member by february 5th for those that would like to see the changes made in the documents please reference the town hall page on the website appointments that can be made curbside pickup or pay in person when booking please be sure to select the right type of appointment for your needs and now i would like to introduce sean nordly our general manager with the gm update hello this is sean northey general manager here at apple canyon like this we're going to talk about a couple of different subjects i'm going to start with the ballots i've been a couple weeks now with the ballots and you should have your packets now with your written ballots in there some clarifications for you you get one ballot for the bylaws and one ballot for the declaration so there's actually twice that you'll have two times that you'll have to vote and then if you own multiple lots you get a vote per lot so if you own two lots you'll get two ballots for the bylaws two ballots for the declaration just so that you understand how that works uh also uh we are asking that you submit your your votes by february 5th now the special first special meeting is february 6th so at that meeting which is one o'clock on february 6th if we reach a quorum then the vote will be closed okay but if we do not reach a quorum then we extend that meeting another 30 days which would be march 6th so on february 6th for the bylaws the quorum is 20 percent of all membership so if we get over 20 percent of voting members voting at that time we will close the voting on the bylaws for the declaration it's all voting members so we actually need 1 830 affirmative votes or the equivalent of that for negative votes or non-votes so if we reach that february 6th we'll close that but if we do not reach that quorum we extend to march 6th and then we could keep extending until we reach that quorum so what we're saying is the legal commission would like you to send your your votes in by february 5th by then hopefully we reach our quorum and we can close this off and be done and get the documents recorded and get in place for the season but if we don't reach those quorums the vote will continue so i hope that clarifies for that if you have any other questions on that please give me a call or email me i'm happy happy to talk to you about that for those that are looking for the changes that were made in the documents the bylaws and the declaration you can look in the september october november and december apple cores we've got the strikeout versions in those versions of the apple core we also have it on the website applecanyonlake.org and on a there's a town hall page so if you look at the red line at the top of the page hit the link that says town hall and about halfway down it's going to have the documents and you can look at the strikeouts there and that'll show you any of the changes there's also a made simple document for both the bylaws and the declaration that you can look at that points out each change and then why those changes were made so i hope that works and i hope that helps you if you're trying to decide how topic i want to talk about is covid we've had some changes in our restrictions here the past week on friday night we went to tier two and actually last night we went to tier one what does that mean the biggest thing it means is that indoor dining is now allowed for up to 25 people it'll be tables of four only and only 25 people so basically have six tables in the pro shop for people to eat at bar service is still not allowed but you can sit in the dining room now and eat we do ask that you wear a mask into the dining room and if you go to the restroom that you do wear your mask to go to the restroom it also means that we can now meet again in person for up to 25 people so committees and commissions will start meeting again in person if they choose now if people guests or members of those committees commissions still are not comfortable or don't want to attend in person zoom is always an option for all of our meetings so we will continue to do that it also means that once we get into activities and events that we can get up to 25 people uh for those two so and the next phase that we move into would be phase four and we're close to moving into that so hopefully if the numbers continue to go down and positivity rates go down we can move into phase four sometime in february and which means even more people can get together and then possibly into phase five as soon as uh as soon as possible which means that we can start offering more events and more activities and bigger numbers for that too so we'll keep you updated on those changes as they come but that's two exciting changes for now with some lessening of the restrictions for covid so we're excited about that have a good week and take care as of monday january 18th joe davies county has been moved back into tier one of the restore illinois kova 19 plan for us this means indoor dining will be allowed with up to 25 capacity however bar seating is still unavailable this also means board and committee meetings may begin to meet in person again keep in mind face masks and social distancing are still required at all acl buildings and facilities the annual hit or miss sledding party was an utter success this past saturday in years past we haven't had enough snow to host the sledding party but this year was an exception many sweaters took to the hill on hole number nine of the pro shop dressed head to toe in snow gear many sledders then enjoyed some delicious cookies and cocoa courtesy of the pro shop though many strides have been made towards cracking down on covet 19 a few of our early events in 2021 have felt its lasting effects as a reminder the mid-winter gathering of the happy campers will not take place this year due to coven 19 concerns though an early reunion isn't in the cards the campground commission and acl look forward to seeing everyone in the spring additionally the annual all-age pinewood derby has been postponed at this time with a new date yet to be determined the recreation department and recreation commission understand how disheartening it is to hear of the cancellation or postponement of an event you look forward to many of these events are offered annually leaving 2020 with a lot of firsts that didn't include our fabulous fireworks display haunted trail or ice cream social as we enter 2021 we want to remind you that coven 19 is still very prevalent and that we will adhere to the guidelines we are given by state and local authorities many of these guidelines include capacity limits which can put us in a bind for many activities especially those
