application provides soldiers the capability to view and update assignment preferences volunteer information and other personal data and is available at WWF our music was developed to increase soldier participation in their assignment process the information provided via s is used by HRC assignment managers and professional development noncommissioned officers to match soldiers preferences and volunteers selections against army readiness requirements worldwide and allows HRC to include aspects of talent management in the assignment process soldiers may also use ask to nominate themselves for priority requisitions to deploying units and select operational units in this video we will help familiarize you with each of the tabs in the ask application log on users must have common access cards or CAC to access the ask application the home page the asked home page provides an overview of ask as well as some specific information on several ask functions such as assignment preferences volunteer for requisitions and personnel data look up the contact tab by clicking on the contact tab you have the opportunity to update your personal contact information this information may be used by your career branch to contact you to discuss assignment and professional development opportunities after entering updated information such as mailing address city state zip code or APO FPO home phone number if desired duty phone number and then click update and verify to save your data the MA CP tab the ma CP tab allows soldiers enrolled in the married Army's couples program the capability to indicate a preference for either simultaneous deployment cycles are consecutive deployment cycles this preference may be considered by their chain of command during assignment and deployment planning princes and volunteer tab clicking on the Preferences volunteer tab allows you to update the locations and special duties for which you would like to be considered the assignment preference area indicates where you would like to be assigned when your career branch identifies you for reassignment the conus link the first to Kona selections are limited to a list of rotational installations and the third selection is an expanded list of both operational and institutional installations that comprise over 95% of all stateside requirements Oh CONUS link Oh Kona's choices include four options which comprise over 86 percent of all overseas requirements the volunteer location link volunteer locations indicate that you would like to be reassigned to one of your choices immediately career branches may use this information when they are attempting to fill last-minute requirements volunteer locations include the expanded list operational and institution installation mentioned previously the special duty interest link the special duty interest area allows you to select a preference to serve in a number of broadening assignments such as drill sergeant instructor and recruiter you may select any number of these special duty interests dependent restricted tour area link the dependent restricted tour area provides you with the means of informing your career branch of your preference for follow-on assignment if you are selected for a dependent restricted tour you may select to a preference to be reassigned back to your current installation or to one of your assignment preferences upon completion of the dependent restricted tour once you have made all desired updates click the submit button to save your data the requisitions tab the requisitions tab is an exciting feature and ask that allows soldiers in the field to see actual assignments for which they may qualify and to nominate themselves for one of those assignments the main screen provides a brief overview of the volunteer for requisition feature as well as a few of the eligibility requirements for the tool the requisition availability link selecting cheque requisition availability brings up a screen showing the assignments for which you are eligible including the report date location and unit name you can click on the select button for any of the assignments shown in order to see additional information such as the number of each assignment available if you choose to nominate yourself for an assignment click the confirm button and then select ok on the final confirmation pop-up once your nomination has been successfully confirmed you will be pended against an actual assignment requisition in the enlisted distribution and assignment system within minutes your career branch has 21 days to review your nomination and either accept the assignment or request a rejection of your assignment to be approved at the branch chief lieutenant-colonel level currently approximately 65% of nominations are approved and the majority of those rejected are based on the strengths of the soldiers losing unit or the soldiers professional development needs if you are not eligible to participate when you select cheque requisition availability you'll receive a message that you are a no-go and the reason why for example you only have 4 months time on station if you are eligible but no assignments are available for your MOS and grade you'll receive a message stating so come back often as new assignments are loaded daily back on the main screen for requisition you can select check history which will display information on any previous ask nominations that you have had be on assignment tab clicking the assignment tab provides assignment information if you are currently on assignment instructions the background tab clicking on the background tab displays information on your most recent centralized background screening if you have had a background screening conducted by Human Resources command within the past three years background screenings are commonly conducted when soldiers are being considered for positions of trust such as drill sergeant recruiter and sharp advisor the personnel data look up our PDL tab the personnel data look up our PDL tab enables you to view data directly from the personnel database of record the total army personnel database there are several areas of data that you can access to ensure your records are accurate and up to date if you find any errors or discrepancies in your unit s1 to resolve them the goal of ask is for soldiers to have more input in their assignment process either by providing valuable information on assignment and Duty preferences or by nominating themselves for actual assignments hopefully we have been
