everybody in this video I'm going to be showing you guys how to create a quarry or at least you know look through a quarry based on information in your table that's already there so if you don't have a quarry already you're going to need to make one and I have another video on how to make one so don't worry about it but once you actually have your quarry open this is what you do to basically what we're going to be doing is searching for what's known as criteria and specifically we're going to be searching for the first letters in our client name column so and you can you know use this same method of operation to search through each other column or field so what that means said let's open up our Access database and look at our business table and everything so first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to close out of my client quarry because it really doesn't matter now I'm going to create another one anyways and we can delete it so now we're just going to open up the client table so that we're in here and we see all our data and we're going to go to the create tab quarry wizard we're going to go to simple quarry wizard click OK and just bring everything over all the way 100% everything so make sure it still says client up here so we're searching through the client table click Next click Next click finish and then then we have our quarry so what we want to do is we want to right-click this and save it really quick make sure nothing gets lost and then we're going to right click on the quarry over here and go into our design view I want to search for a criteria based on the clients last name and I basically want the two clients whose last name starts with G R so I will be showing you how to do that you can use this builder up here to type it out for you if you really want but I've already memorized the syntax of the you know the parameters or whatever so we're going to be entering those in manually so just remember the builders here if you need to use that and what we're going to do is we're going to type in like and then space open quotations capital G lowercase R and then the star which is above the eight key to sit shift and eight and then close your quotations and then we can run the thingamajig the the quarry and as you can see we have client named grant antiques and grantor found eight or Granger foundation so that is how you search based on last names in someone or in your database so you know on a quarry hope you guys enjoyed that and I'll see you next time
