if you're working with male clientele i have tips for you especially for those who are young and those who are single don't miss it hello everyone welcome to my channel if you are a new girl boss if you're a female entrepreneur business lady businesswoman whatever category you fall into these are nine tips you're not going to want to miss number 10 you know that we are still sort of living in a man's world and as women i just feel like we are really in a place where we have to work that much harder to be taken seriously i think that sometimes people project a sense of fragility or like feebleness and you really have to make an effort to just put that much more in so that you can be put on the same level as with your male counterparts especially if you're going to work with like corporate or large companies you're going to have to be able to stand your ground and hold your own and show us that you are really capable of this you know are you worthy of this title people might try to sort of push your limits you know see how far they can get with you and you just need to remember who you are and why you're there and make sure that you deliver if you have to meet a client um in person you should be in control of the location so you should pick where you go and meet you should pick the time you should be in control of that do not let the other person find a place for you guys to sit especially if it's a place that you don't know it needs to be a place that would be conducive for the meeting and a place that won't give a different impression if you're to be spotted out you don't want to mislead anyone who's looking on not that that really matters but you really want for the you know the energy to be professional and for you to be able to have if it's your computer your notebook out and so that you can also focus you don't want something that might be sort of like a distraction or something that you know like a restaurant with music and whatnot i mean user judgement so i personally recommend the dololo boardrooms or a cafe called prestige it's very airy and open and you can work there there's a lot of people around and you'll be safe like don't let him pick for you because he's gonna he could pick a place where you can't really get any work done he's gonna pick some type of a club or something or somewhere where he has the upper hand make sure you always have the upper hand you should pick the place number eight make sure that you have your own transport make sure that you can get there yourself the last thing you want is to have him maybe pick you up and you have transport to get there on your own and back the last thing you want is for him to have hitched you a ride and now if you find that you are not in control the situation you can't get away easily enough perhaps it's too far from where you could get a taxi make sure that you forever have the upper hand make sure that you're able to get out of there if you need to number seven is dress appropriately i know that we're kind of living in this climate where we're holding men accountable for their actions and we're sort of trying to remind them that they're not they're not animals you know they do have self-control they can control themselves but at the same time you as a woman don't want to appear as though you may have other things in mind yourself like you wouldn't want to be responsible for prompting certain thoughts in his mind and so i would just say without you know trying to control anybody i would recommend that you dress appropriately you know cover up your lady bits you know don't wear something with a plunging cleavage or neckline obviously like if he's weak that's where he's going to be at and you really you know the last thing you want is to be objectified during your meeting and so you don't want to distract from the task at hand so i always dress as professionally as i can you have got to be assertive i can't say this enough be assertive and lead the discussion lead the whole thing do not let him try to veer off course or you know go off on a tangent on something else unrelated i have so many story times with regards to this where we would have agreed that we were meeting to have a consultation and it would be about their business but all of a sudden we're talking about uh what he's looking for in a wife or like a you know relationship we're kind of like how did we get here so when he tries to take it that way just bring it back to where we're at you know this is what we're here for i like to play dumb i become very literal if i see that things are going in a place where i don't want them to go so i pretend like i can't tell that he's flirting or i pretend that i can't tell that he used like an innuendo or like a a naughty pun or anything like that like i just i i play stupid so it helps to sort of again get back on track if if you miss it like he might be forced to repeat himself and like it would be too late to really like go on that you know you don't give it momentum like just stifle it right there and then so i play dumb all the time end it when you've reached your objectives or when you've received the information that you need don't still sit there lingering because that only opens the door for discussions to go in directions that are unnecessary so after you've found out whatever it is he needs from you after you've told him everything he needs to know about you and what you offer after you've discussed objectives and whatever and you're done and the picture is clear get out of there you don't need to still hang in there and talk because very little good comes out of there i feel like when the conversation turns personal it almost immediately turns towards courtship type energy and like dating type vibes or you know his problems or whatever it is and this goes for like male and female but just like if you're trying to be clever about it i would say get out of there the second that you uh have everything that you need obviously politely i'm not saying like abruptly just what number are we on i don't remember pay attention to the buzzwords that he uses or doesn't use in the conversation in the in the messaging phase of things so uh depending on how you find your clients maybe they dm you maybe they email you just you can usually tell how serious someone is going to be or you can usually tell if someone is legit just based on how they approached you and what they wrote and the way they wrote what they wrote so i can usually tell fairly quickly in my own dms if someone is just sort of being as vague and as general as possible without really pinpointing exactly what it is that they want with me or from me i i filter a lot of people out in the dms already like if he if he's not being specific he doesn't seem to know what you offer he doesn't seem to be wanting to really understand what you offer you asking him like if he has a business what is the business what's the problem and you know because i often get like someone that just says no i want to see how we might be able to collaborate or how we might be able to work together on on you know our brands together you know such funny things and when you say well like what in particular or how how do you think because obviously you approached me like i imagine it's because you looked at what i was about and you formed a picture in your mind as to how you know i could come in and if you're still just you know vaguely putting it out there the chances are you're going to waste my time and i'm not about that recognize that your time is billable do not leave your house for free or don't leave for consultation for free if you're like a freelancer you're providing a service or whatever if that person would like to talk to you in person if they're insisting that they want to talk to you in person rather than say speaking on the phone charge for your time per hour do not leave your house for free and that's just sort of in case you know when you get there and you know he had nothing to do with business all along maybe he just was trying to find a way to talk to you at least you have a little something in your pocket you know it wasn't a complete waste of time so make your hours billable i have a friend he's an older friend i think he's actually in fact i would call him a mentor really he's he's my parents generation and he said that you need to use what you've got you need to use all the tools that you've been given all your assets and if somehow you're able to get the attention of be it men or women it's fine that in that in and of itself isn't wrong you should use that but don't let them get their way without you getting your way first so if someone's trying to buy you a dinner make sure that he's signed you know has he signed on the contract has he paid up has he you know booked a package um not a moment sooner use what you've got if someone really wants to work with you and also buy you a dinner yeah okay just make sure that he's signed first make sure that money has come into the account first before anything else like not a moment sooner wow last but not least background checks so do your research before you meet with someone you might learn something about them that deters you from moving forward with them i know sometimes people just say things and it's just your say but at least it's in the back of your mind and you can move forward having made an informed decision i hope these tips are useful so until next time i will see you again subscribe
