hi guys welcome to my channel my name is sheri and today i'll be sharing with you guys my experience on how i added my social security information after i became a u.s citizen during this pandemic so the first thing i did was to call my local social security office here in virginia so i asked him what are the documents i need to send he told me i need to fill out the form ss5 which is the application for a social security card and he asked me if i have one because if i don't have one he will mail a form to my address so online you can check this form just type it in the ssa.gov and under the menu bar just click that in forms so the first form will be the application for a social security card just click that and there are five pages so the form itself is on page five so using this computer you can actually fill this out so my name is sherry so i'll show you the other way how to find this ss5 phone so basically you can just type in ss5 form and it will pop up this one it's on page five so i'll be sharing with you guys so i'll be sharing with you guys the documents i sent so i actually included a cover letter explaining that i just became a u.s citizen and i need to update my social security information with them and i include my contact information so they can contact me whenever they need something more so yes and then of course the social security form um the ss5 for application for a social security card then my original naturalization certificate my passport book and my social security card this is just my own experience um other people said they only asked them to send the ss5 form their original naturalization certificate and they actually just sent their driver's license or their passport card and then they don't even have to include their social security card so i really recommend that you should call your local social security office first before sending anything just to confirm everything you know so here's my timeline i mailed in my application using the usps priority mail with tracking number on june 27 2020 and on june 30th 2020 they received my application and on july 10th 2020 i receive all of my documents back on my naturalization certificate passport book and my social security card so i wasn't expecting a new social security card before because i haven't heard anything from anybody's experience so on july 22nd 2020 i received my new social security card um with my first name middle name and last name because my old one only showing my first name middle initial and my last name so yes that's all guys um hope you find this video helpful and congratulations on becoming a u.s citizen good luck...
