[Music] hey everybody father mark here again with another update update with father mark uh here inside again this week although it is getting nicer i'm sure you're like me and and have enjoyed getting outside the last couple weeks as the weather has gotten nicer i know my last last couple mondays on my off day i was able to get home and many of you remember that my family we farm and was able to get out and be with my dad and help out help them out in the fields with planting and running around with my nieces and nephews outside and so even played some golf on last last week and i played at hinsdale and played really really well and so those of you that are golfers know that when you play well you kind of get the golf bug and you want to play again you're looking forward to the next time you play well that was me all week set up another time did not go as well all right did it not did not play well my second time out compared to my first time out and so yeah that golf bug not there as much um this most recent time was at roost lake and it didn't it wasn't very nice to me so i think i like kinsdale golf course better than ruth lake at least so far typically at these these updates i have a number of different things to update you on to talk about i just just want to talk about one thing this week and that is as it relates to our confirmation program and some changes we have coming up with confirmation first first thing to say is you know the confirmation age is there's no throughout the church in the country or the world there's no the church doesn't say confirmation needs to be you know sophomore in high school eighth grade whatever there's churches even like the eastern church that still confirm that confirm they do all their sacraments of initiation baptism first communion confirmation all when the one the person gets baptized so it's all at once here at notre dame the custom is as you know we confirm at sophomore year in high school and we've been confirming notre dame's been confirming it a sophomore in high school since 1991. and as i've been here now for 11 months as your pastor and kind of get in the lay of the land and seeing how things operate and assessing things and you know one one thing's very very clear from my 11 months here is that you know we have great catechists very faithful men and women who who who do a great job with teaching our faith and yet even with great catechists there there seems to be um a lack of receptivity or a lack of confirmation resonating um with our with our teens when confirmed at sophomore sophomore...
