in this tutorial I'll be demonstrating how to use the radio buttons and also the checkboxes using the NetBeans IDE we go to our project name right click jframe form class name new jframe finish and we're going to put a title here so let's get our J label and the Edit our font we're going to click right here in our properties go to font just click it a lot of times new roman' boat let's put it 36 okay right click edit text I'm gonna call this Arsenio's ice-cream so let's get that ice-cream center of that make this look good we're going to use a couple of panels so let's put our radio buttons here when I have three radio buttons since I'm making a ice-cream place I'm going to name these vanilla strawberry and save the best for last chocolate so to change the text you just right click edit text vanilla also let's edit the prices right now so let's say vanilla is $1 $1 okay and say strawberry strawberry is I'll say a dollar fifty and finally chocolate let's say chocolate is $2 it's got to be $2 it's the best all right line those up that looks good and we're going to edit our panel so we just click our panel make sure it's selected we're going to change our border so you go to the border down here in properties simply click it and we're going to put a line border and wallah you have a lie so now we're going to add our check boxes let's put our check boxes here so our check box is we're just going to have different selections of toppings you can add to your ice cream so let's right click change our name let's sprinkles and let's say sprinkles as an extra 25 cents edit text let's say peanuts peanuts is an extra 50 cents and finally say fudge I say fudge is 75 cents alright lion-o's it let's put a panel here make it look better then we line them up I also want to do the same thing with the border let's put stretch it out a little bit okay this is giving me some problems alright that looks better our border let's go to Lyon border okay now we're going to add three text fields so let's put those here it's going to be subtotal jlabel just going to be text and finally total now we're going to edit our J labels so let's call this subtotal tax and total clear out of tech skills edit text backspace I'm going to do this for all three edit text backspace and it takes backspace all right slide is back up and we're going to make our text fields not editable so let's uncheck all the boxes and we're going to add three buttons so this is going to be our calculate button our reset form button and our exit button so let's rename these edit text calculate reset for and exit alright now let's let's say let's check out our GUI first let's set our exit button just double-click and system now exit zero and semicolon now we go back to our design let's see how our GUI looks let's do both file and this is hard GUI looks it's ok couldn't be better but this is just a tutorial to show you how to use these buttons now if you see now when I click these buttons all of them are selected once we have the code end you will only be able to select one and checkboxes checkboxes you can select as many as you want so we're going to do all this now so let's go to our let's going to set our re reset form button so we double click it if our reset button we're simply going to set all our checkboxes radio buttons we're going to select those set those to false so we just have to remember our variable name so vanilla rad dot set select it and false chocolate right that set select it false let me call okay we're getting that error see what's going on says I don't have a chocolate right field let's go back to our design check our variable name so we make sure chocolate is selected we go to our code okay so I accidentally made the first letter capitalised let's change that to lowercase and the error is gone so let's go to strawberry read that set select it false same thing with the checkbox we have to remember our variable name so remember for our check boxes we use our toppings so sprinkles check that set select it and this in here is just our boolean expression so it's false boolean expressions are true false statements so our next was peanuts check yeah false and our last one was fudge check those now for our text fields we're going to say our text is was subtotal text field that set text will have empty string here I'm going to do this for all three of our text fields of text text field that set text and total and I forgot textfield care we go okay now let's set our radio button so we go up here back to desire double click vanilla to set our vanilla button and what we do here is if if statements so if vanilla rad is select it okay enter chocolate you know we can actually just copy these so let's go up here and let's copy chocolate and strawberry and put those right under here so you're going to do this for every radio button so this is stating if vanilla if our vanilla radio button is selected the other two are false which means they cannot be selected
