hello and welcome to another zodian session how about that but you didn't expect that to happen huh today is saturday and that means today according to the schedule we're supposed to be doing game development but yesterday we started a pretty interesting topic we started a topic on memory management in c and uh we implemented our own malloc and free implementation you can actually find the previous episode on on youtube uh yeah so the source code of this implementation is going to be available in the description as usual uh and yeah here it is finally i made a good enough video for youtube algorithm to actually recommend me recommend me back it it happens quite fairly but uh sometimes it does in fact happen so uh so let's put it like to focus this weight so this is my sauce face uh all right so previous episode uh something like this uh malloc and free so uh and uh one of the things i wanted to do with malekin free uh implementation is implement a garbage collector on top of um on top of them so the idea is gonna be the following right so you have a heap right so where's the hip here's the hip right of a particular capacity and all of the uh allocations and the allocations happen within that specific heap right uh and i had the following idea what like since we know all of the chunks of the heap that are allocated and the also chunks that are deallocated we can go through each individual allocated chunk and try to find within the allocated chunks something that resembles the pointer right and uh see what this pointers point and if it points to something within the hip and especially something that is allocated on the hip we can mark the uh pointed chunks as reachable and by going through this the entire hip we can determine which allocated chunks are reachable and unreachable and automatically deallocate them so that was my idea uh but but unfortunately yesterday i just didn't have enough time to implement that idea so um i decided to do the second episode of this memory management series and finally implement that garbage collector so uh but before we go and start implementing the garbage collector i would like to talk a little bit about memory alignment because i think memory alignment will make like a um you know handling properly memory alignment will make our life a little bit easier on that part so let's actually recap how i planned to implement uh you know garbage collection step so i'm opening my paint so it usually takes a little bit of time because it's written in very fast programming language called python uh everybody knows that it's super fast so that's why you have to wait a little bit so here's the heap right so here is your heap and essentially i want you to...
