we all love diversity right I mean we take pride in being a very welcoming country as long as people follow the rules and do their part to make this a great nation all are welcome Americans have diverse hairstyles we have diverse musical tastes diverse fashion choices then of course diverse food preferences yuck but is the u.s. one of the most diverse places in the world not even close atop the world's most ethnically diverse countries are all African nations where there are many many tribes and groups with their own languages and customs when measuring ethnic diversity the United States ranks towards the middle worldwide were slightly more diverse than Russia but slightly less diverse in Spain Canada and Mexico or more diverse and we are Believe It or Not South Korea and Japan are in the bottom three the least diverse country North Korea you can imagine why of course when you measure diversity you could measure way more things than just race you can measure diversity in a number of factors including religious diversity gender diversity age and education well address those but today we're gonna specifically measure ethnic and racial diversity and because we're doing such a positive video we got a major sponsor to pay for our research so no driving today yay as such sit back with a drink in your hand as we spend a lot of somebody else's money and fly to our most diverse States and the USA and I told about equality and it's true either you're wrong or you're right if you're thinking about my baby it don't matter if you're black or white as we come in for a landing we realize where we are and this is quite a surprise or in Georgia but when you look at the numbers it makes sense here's why in the United States the racial makeup is as follows 60% white 18% Hispanic 13% black 6% Asian and 1% Native American and some other smaller races now in Georgia the racial composition is quite different here the african-american population is very high at 32% and the white population is 52% Hispanics make up almost 10% now let's compare that to our least diverse state in America Maine where it's 93% white a real big difference so we scored some fried chicken awesome and a ticket to paradise or hell depending on how you look at it as we pull into Miami International Airport and Florida our 9th most diverse state in the Union while in Georgia it was the black population that made a diverse in Florida it's the Hispanic and Latino population which makes it so varied here Florida's 53 percent white 26% Hispanic and 17% african-american that's a racial stew plus Florida has the nation's largest Cuban population which makes up 7 percent of the state's total population that's a lot of course like Florida this channels pro diversity after all our correspondents include mappy who's white nappy who's black Juan and of course mrs. mappy who's Jewish I'm not Jewish yes you are karen i love racial diversity i think we all need to love one another and appreciate our differences i know you feel that way mappy that's why you're liked more than anybody else on this channel and because of Florida's high elderly population it ranks first in the us for generational diversity meaning the gap between the young and old is the biggest in Florida that makes for some interesting conversations I'm sure time to catch our flight while we listen to some amazing Latin music we heard while in Miami as we zone out until we look outside and realize we're in New Mexico our eighth most diverse State New Mexico's numbers look like this notice that New Mexico is also one point eight percent Asian these 1.8 percent must have to learn to love tacos as their typical food choice ramen probably gets boring after a while right other interesting factors New Mexico is also the sixth gayest eight in America we're point five percent of the population is gay it's also the most Hispanic state in the Union and the fourth most Native American state - very diverse down there in New Mexico good for you guys sticking together and making it work and all so we picked up some amazing jewelry while we were there thanks to the very diverse craftspeople of the New Mexico culture and then we head out to our next stop hello New Jersey here in the Garden State God planted a lot of different seeds the racial breakdown is as such which shows that our nearly four major races here since the Asian population stands at 10 percent New Jersey has America's largest Italian population and there's also a lot of Jews in New Jersey six percent of Jerseyans are of the Jewish American population good for the third highest population in the u.s. hey mrs. mappy have you ever thought about moving to New Jersey rather well then map II would have to make a lot more money then but she certainly could be on that show since her so much drama and all we leave New Jersey with a bagel really that's it as we fly from Newark all the way over to JFK sure we could have driven but it's other people's money so why do we care of course New York's one of the most diverse states this chart shows just over half of the populations white notice New York is also 2.6 percent mixed-race which is also really high New York summed the nation's largest Dominican population - but New York City alone is what makes this state so diverse in many ways within New York City there are more ethnic racial and cultural differences than anywhere else in the US this map shows just how diverse the city is broken down by race and that's not even taken into account the number of ethnicities here another interesting fact ten percent of New York City are either Muslims Hindus Buddhists or Jewish I need diverse like you Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya Ya I need diverse like you yeah yeah so in New York we picked up this awesome I watch somebody on the street said it was real so that's good enough for us now it's time to take a quick flight to Maryland Maryland's the second least white state we've seen so far after New Mexico here half the populations white Baltimore is the big reason Maryland has such a high black population Baltimore's 63 percent black which makes it the fifth most african-american is city in the country going back to 1940 Baltimore was eighty percent white that's a big change Maryland also ranks fourth in the u.s. in terms of income diversity there's a lot of really rich and a lot of really poor people here a nappy have you been to Baltimore no okay then last time I asked you anything while we were in Baltimore we almost got jumped so we didn't have any time to do any shopping but that's okay we still have our dignity right sit tight fellas we're getting ready to land in the great state of Texas here in Texas it's pretty much a white or Hispanic state of course over time Texas has become very Hispanic this chart shows that over the last few years the white birth rate in Texas is shrunk to 33% and the Hispanic birth rate has risen and is now 47% but across America the birth rate for Hispanic women is fallen by 31% in the last ten years why that's because now two and three Hispanic women were born in the u.s. today's American born Hispanic women are less likely to be poor and more likely to be educated than their immigrant mothers and grandmothers and are more often delaying childbearing so they can finish school and start careers hence in many areas of America the Hispanic population boom is slowing one are you gonna make any more babies soon you know after you made one just a few videos ago great country this is yes alright he doesn't want to talk about the scandal in case you're wondering what that's all about a while back mrs. mappy had a baby she named Ricky and he was of questionable descent all right we pull up to our third most diverse state where are we New Mexico again Nevada what what makes Nevada such a diverse place it's less than half white for starters the Las Vegas metro area makes up a quarter of the state's population due to this city's international flair it's a big draw for people from all over the world it has a large Filipino population and 5% of Vegas is population is of mixed descent off we go as we catch a quick flight to our second most diverse state in America California we want a little bit of money in Vegas but then we lost it all again same as it ever was of course California's diverse and at the rate things are currently going California will be atop this list at some point soon when you look at this ethnic mix you can understand why there are more various languages spoken in California households than in any other place in America while most people assume California's diversity stems from the Hispanic population boom in fact it's the asian population that's stemming a majority of the growth here this chart shows that Asians have far surpassed California's recent immigration swing as such California has the nation's highest Chinese population - as you can imagine California has the most foreign-born residents 27 percent of California's population was born outside of the US in West Virginia that numbers 1% up up and away we go everyone this is your captain speaking and guess what we're about to land in our final destination if you look outside your window you'll notice we're in Hawaii yeah I love coming to ye yay even though I'm broke after that whole Vegas thing Hawaii takes the diversity cake look at these numbers there's also a few Native Americans here too nice did they canoe here Hawaii is interestingly the third most economically diverse state -
