hi everyone today I am going to talk about case statement in lookup so as you know already KS you have used in past anywhere like CAC plus plus Java or SQL as well so how we are using case in looker I'll just show it right away so taken scenario we have a country and Country wise Revenue we have for error for now we have only two but let's assume that we have more than two so any n number so we want to compare us and with other countries so I want to make like if USA country is USA then USA rest also others so I I'll have the two rows only but rest all company will be grouped together in the USA uh sorry others so how I'm going to make case statements so I'll go to the view file I'll see the dimension country so I'll take it here anyway we can make down the line anywhere between the view so I'll just write dimension and then country group any name we can give then type type I could say I'll take string and then SQL so SQL is a similar SQL case statement you have to write it and then we are going to make base condition based on the country so I'll take just table reference and then country equal to towards USA then I'll just take another name so we'll make we will be able to make difference here United States okay then else or I'll make others okay then I will close it with the end so I'll just save and now I'll go to my explore I'll just refresh it and once I refresh uh I'll just open and see in that particular view I could see country groups I'll just select the country group and I'll run it once I run I could see the changes here use USA is United States and UK's other so if we had any other here also it will come under the other so if you want I can remove this and then just run just for the cache removal or instead of map I'll take columns so you can see here the United States and other and then any other cosmetic changes you want you can just go here you can put value you can also do the formatting of value format you can change this uh if you don't want this x axis I'll just go to the x-axis disable x-axis name and then I'll just go here and I will save as a local add to existing dashboard so this is how we are going to use a case statements where we can apply the condition based on certain bad hope you understand thank you
