hello everyone Mike Rempel from Excel bytes with today's Excel bytes blog post today is gonna be a really quick tutorial and I'm gonna show you how to enter multiple lines of text in one cell so let's see how we can do that in Excel so here I have three lines of an address that I want to enter into one cell and if I went ahead and entered the first line and just hit enter it's gonna drop down to the next cell and that's not what I want so in order to enter multiple lines of text into one cell what you do is instead of hitting enter you hold on your Alt key and hit enter and it just moves it down to allow you to enter another line so I put in what I want alt enter and then when I'm finally have everything that I want entered into it I just hit the enter key and it will enter all those lines into one cell now it appears in the formula bar that it only shows the first line but if I just drag that down you'll see all that data is entered into that single cell and it does appear in the formula bar now one thing to be cautious of is if you enter numbers for example and you want to use those in a formula Excel treats those as text so if I took equals this times five I'm just gonna get a value error because there is no way to show those as true values Excel just recognizes those as texts but that's how you can enter multiple lines of data into one's self so thanks for watching this tutorial if you found it beneficial please share it like it or give it a thumbs up and if you haven't yet please subscribe to my blog at my website excel - vice.com or any of the social networks you see below have a great day and be excelling
