have to open it up - ooh oh my gosh you guys I'm gonna to open these up because there are surprises every page I turn hello Harry Potter fans Peter Kenneth here welcome back to the Potter collector channel where we are a community of collectors a might win or is this just magic okay anyway so my schedule has changed for those of you who have been watching for a while you know that I release videos on Tuesdays I am now going to be releasing videos on Thursdays so I have some books that arrived while I was out of town if you haven't seen my video of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter tour in Orlando Florida check it out I'm excited about these two things right here because they complete a set so I'm gonna show you what that set is after I open them I'm gonna put this away from now okay there this is very exciting this is a German bucket that I've been looking for for a while and an Instagram collector offered to sell it to me okay guys are you ready for this some of you will know exactly what it is when I open it some of you will not but that's okay because that's what I'm here this is an alternative cover for Harry Potter and the half-blood Prince German translation before the German books were released when Carlson the publisher did was they held a vote for the covers of ink order the phoenixes when they started it order the Phoenix have footprints and Deathly Hollows a vote for what what the cover is going to look like and this was one of the contenders this was the final cover as as most of you have seen this and know this but this was one of the contenders for the actual cover so for those who voted they did a giveaway and printed a limited amount of this dust jacket so it's just a dust jacket it's not actually printed on the book and I don't know the exact number if someone knows the exact number of how many of these were were given away put it in the comments below but it was a limited amount and and you were if you voted for one of the covers you were given you were entered into a drawing to win one of these books with the dust jacket so they did this for half-blood Prince and Deathly Hollows they didn't do it forward of the Phoenix but I think they did the vote for the Phoenix if I'm not mistaken correct me if I'm wrong in the comments below but they did do the giveaway for have a prince and deathly hallows the Deathly Hollows one is fiend fire the cover art was being fire and of course we know that the final cover is oh yeah it's um the final cover was the forest scene when Harry goes to meet Voldemort so that was the final cover that was chosen one of the contenders was the fiend fire scene and you can find that that's I think that particular one only had like a hundred printed so it's super rare if you have it I mean you can send it to me what was I talking about oh so the yes the fiend fire scene they're only about a hundred of those I know that there were a lot more of these printed these come up a lot more often I mean it's still pretty scarce but so that's the story behind this book very excited to finally have it I've been looking for a while thank you very much for selling me your book it will have a very happy and healthy and good home here I actually had to take out of the box because I needed the box to send something else so no but I didn't unwrap it I'll unwrap it for I'm just I'm God Touche okay so let's pop it open this is an American box set of books one through six in hardcover formats still sealed which was a non-negotiable for me and I'll show you why in a second and as you're probably guessing this is one through seven boxes set and since I told you that's my non-negotiable was that it be sealed this one's sealed too oh no it's a box within a box alright well it's not ok this this set is really really fun if you haven't seen it before so here is the the trunk that it comes in deliver to Hogwarts as these handles on the side then when you open up the trunk there's below latch when you open up the trunk inside our Harry Potter books I love the diamond pattern that they used on the inside because it mimics you know the diamond pattern that they used on the American Harry Potter books and then inside of the trunk is this boxed set of 1 through 7 and again it's sealed why do I want boxed sets that are sealed Scholastic started to release the American hard covers at Prisoner of Azkaban they did not do books 1 & 2 because chamber secrets was released June 2nd 1999 and Prisoner of Azkaban was released September 8th 1999 so there was only June July already so there was only three months between the release of the two books so it would have been pointless to do a box set of 1 & 2 when they knew that Prisoner of Azkaban was coming out 3 months later so when I purchased this sealed box set of books 1 through 3 I thought to myself so why don't I just get all the box sets of the original American covers and so one through three one through four they release the box sets after every single book release one through five one through six all of these box sets have cover artwork on them and then there's JK Rowling signature which is printed on which brings up something that I'm going to be talking about in a little bit the only sad thing is that 1 through 7 box set does not have any artwork on it it's just blank because you know the artwork is actually be the trunk that it comes in because they don't expect you to take out the box from the trunk you know so it's just brown on all sides which is alright this actually looks a little bit because Harry Potter on the front so this will look really nice on the top of my shelves along with all these other box sets the British ones are a lot harder to come by and a lot more expensive when you find them so that will probably be a slow process but I think I would like to do the the Bloomsbury hardcover box sets next and they started with Chamber of Secrets so you can find I'm actually two versions of Philosopher's Stone and chamber secrets the Bloomsbury box set you can find it with a fourth printing philosopher's stone and a seventh printing chamber of secrets or a fifth printing Philosopher's Stone and printing Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets I don't think I've ever seen a sealed one through to Bloomsbury boxed set available so that will actually be really hard to find and come to think of it I don't think that they did a one through three box set you can find the TouchSmart editions in a one through three box set there isn't the Bloomsbury one through three box set so I mentioned the printed signatures on the boxed sets that I just showed you which brings up something that I wanted to talk about that's really important so I get a lot of emails and questions about these books right here about whether the printed signature on the top of the slip case is actually hand signed it's actually printed as a decoration so a lot of people see this signature through the wrapping and think oh my goodness JK Rowling signs at the top of this book not true scholastic just printed you know this signature on top as they did with you know the the other box sets that they released so if you see these books these are the slipcase editions of ward of the Phoenix through Deathly Hallows unfortunately they didn't do the other books they started at order of the Phoenix and then went through Deathly Hallows it would have been nice if they had kind of released the other ones in this slipcase format as well but they didn't which is okay if you see these for sale and it says signed it's not actually signed even sellers get confused some sellers are dishonest and know that it's printed and try to trick you into purchasing it thinking that it's signs about when it's actually just printed onto the subcase itself but some sellers don't actually know that it's it's just printed because it's sealed they don't want to open it up they don't want to ruin the value of the book so they just assume that it's actually hand signed so these slipcase editions are not signed every single one has an identical printed signature on the top of the slip case so don't be confused if you see this for sale they're still really cool to have I mean there's still you know collector's editions books five through seven and I definitely recommend these two to any a Harry Potter book collector if you see him for a reasonable price pick them up what's a reasonable price they sold for $65 in the store that is way too high now you can get them unsealed for about 10 to 15 dollars on eBay I wouldn't pay any more than 15 to 20 if you really wanted them for an unsealed copy and like 25 to 30 for a sealed copy you'll see a lot of them priced a lot higher just wait for one to show up it okay they will show up actually I'll show you the ISBN numbers so that you can do like an Abe books search you just type in this number in the search and then it will bring up all of the available books for sale my half-blood Prince is not sealed I still need to find a copy that is sealed Oh guys I just noticed something whoa I because I've never had them open I haven't noticed this so one of the cool things about these books that I forgot to mention was that they have different artwork so for example half-blood Prince I mean well for one it's look at that gorgeous black all black book that nice underneath the dust jacket so half-blood Prince has this artwork by Mary grant pray it's the gaunt house when Harry and Dumbledore are in one of the memories so that's the artwork for half-blood Prince order the Phoenix is 12 Grimmauld place it's beautiful look it up on Google and then another gorgeous one they're all beautiful Deathly Hallows is Harry Ron and Hermione line away from green dots on the dragon but what I just noticed when I opened up half-blood Prince was that on the front end paper is the artwork that we all know printed on the the front end paper how cool is that I want to pencil on the back in paper too oh the back cover is on the back end and paper so I wonder if that's the case for for these books as well if anyone has a copy of ordered Phoenix and Deathly Hallows that are open and check that for me and let me know if you know this this cover art is on the inside cuz oh look at this hey what's going on here sorry making all these discoveries like as I'm talking about these I've never really looked at these as closely as I am now so on the slip case of both or the Phoenix and deathly hallows they have the original cover art on the front and back but on half-blood Prince they have the new cover art on the front and back of the slip case how interesting anyway okay so ISBN number for Harry Potter and the half-blood Prince have to open it up to oh oh my gosh you guys I'm gonna to open these up because there are surprises every page I turn look at this piece of art by Mary grant pray this is Narcisa and Bellatrix where they see the Fox and they actually kill the Fox because they think it could be an or so many surprises so I wonder if there's like special artwork on the other ones as well so if you know if you have these available let me know in the comments you know what's what's inside of these ones I may have to find used opens copies so that I can see what's inside anyway the ISBN number for half-blood Prince is right here what okay I'm gonna have to open these up and do like a video just on these books on the back of half-blood Prince there's a chapter art illustration showcase where all of the chapter arts cool is blown up larger than it then it appears at each chapter look at this so cool well these are a lot cooler than I thought that they were oh my gosh oh look at that wait what when there's a quote okay guys I'm gonna have to make a video of just these books and so alright I'm not gonna go any further because I'm gonna make a video about these and I'm gonna find opened used copies of these guys to go through in that video there is there's so much that I want to talk about right now but I'm gonna save it for another video thank you so much for watching if you have any questions about Harry Potter books or what you saw today except for the silkiest editions because I'm gonna do a special video about those let me know in the comments or send me an email or you can send me a message on Instagram at the Potter collector so now it's time to like dislike comment and subscribe whatever you would like to do is fine with me and until next time keep collecting [Music]
