How safe is a digitally signed PDF document?
Can't afford signNow? Get signNow for less | ZDNet [ http://www.zdnet.com/article/cant-afford-signNow-sign-get-keepsolid-sign-for-less/ ] In signNow [ https://www.keepsolid.com/sign/ ], a big attention developers pay for the user’s data safety. That is why the main security features are: 1. Peer-to-peer. Using powerful protocols, so all data is stored and transmitted in encrypted form and is decrypted strictly after authorization on the user's device. Accordingly, only users are aware of the decrypted files, and no third party can invade and decrypt the data. 2. Data is transmitted over a secure https channel. We transfer data only through reliable and authorized sources, therefore bringing to nothing possibilities of man-in-the-middle attacks. 3. Multi-level data protection. We generate strong random keys and use the AES+RSA encryption combination. In such a way, we provide an additional layer of protection to our users regardless of their password strength. 4. Data distribution. The encrypted user data is not stored in one place, but distributed over several servers without the possibility of its partial full or even full interpretation. When some parties intercept your data, they will not be able to restore, decrypt, and aggregate it. So, using the app, you may be calm for the data safety.

Do VCs steal the IP from applicants that they've turned down (the vast majority of applicants), to give it away to the companies
Of course they do! It’s not exactly stealing though. You are giving it to them, aren’t you? They’ll share it not because they have turned you down, they’ll do it as soon as they receive it, mainly because from day one they won’t invest in your company if they have already invested in your space. They will also do their best to make their portfolio company succeed. If you were the portfolio company, wouldn’t you expect them to do exactly this? They also do it because the founders of that portfolio company in your space are their “trusted advisers” in your field. Remember they were sold on by those founders some time in the past, so there is respect and recognition of expertise for them. So this is all very legitimate and you would do it too if you were in their shoes. The best you may hope is that they (and the portfolio company founder) love your work and offer you to join them. Which in most cases is not what you want. If they have already funded a company in your space, your mere existence is at best “annoying” to them :) Many argue that you should not worry sharing your stuff, because only execution counts or that everyone signNowes the same ideas etc…. that’s all true, yet even a very small “lesson” can be extremely valuable, especially if you tried a market and concluded something, which may be in your slide deck. That would be for instance testing a market segment with a given product. Why giving that away for free? I had multiple VCs and angel investors in 4 funded startups in the past and all with no exception had shared these type of decks with me, it’s normal practice, I was happy to receive them and learn about what other entrepreneurs are doing and how they perceive the market. Action items: 1. Always check a VCs portfolio company before sending them anything. They won’t invest in two different companies in the same narrow space. Save time. (if they do, it will be with the intention of merging them). 2. Check their “rival” VC. The one they are often compared to. If they have not already invested in your space, there is a high chance they would want to. Go with them. 3. If despite some overlap with a portfolio company you decide to send your deck, send a teaser first. If you manage to get a meeting, first thing to ask is how do you position us vs. that company in your portfolio. Then either pull out or share more based on what you perceive from their answers.

Is e-signature safe?
Electronic signatures are used on a daily basis by businesses to bind agreements. It can be in any form be it a PIN number or just an OK click. These days even emails are considered as a legal binding agreement. This is so because giving your permission onto something digitally is way more convenient and secured than the traditional process of written signatures. E signature solutions are a great method to not only track the entire documentation process but also to ensure high-end security with no chance of forgery in it.Are They Safe?Electronic signatures are backed by digital signatures which are protected by several encryption levels. In case of tampering, this happening will automatically invalid the digital signature and so will it be the same case with electronic signature. Electronic signatures are rendered by professional electronic signature service providers that offer streamlined package where all the information is compactly transferred into a secured package.E Signature is hence often termed as a digital finger print of the signee. They stand equal importance with that of a written signature just the difference with e-signature is that they are much more secured. There has been a tremendous growth in the use of electronic signature for dealing with agreements. This is so because every agreement is interacted through encryptions which prevent tampering of data or the signature at any level. This way the sender and receiver can ensure that all the information provided in the document stays the same throughout the course of signature. If at all a change is seen in the transit it will be flagged to both the parties.Another distinctive aspect of using an electronic signature is that it has a legal standpoint in the court of law. So at the time of dispute between the sender and the recipient the court will consider electronic signature as a proof. Hence they are safe to use even from a legal point of you. Therefore it is correct to say that using e signature solutions for any professional or personal dealing is entirely safe plus there is an added advantage of cost reduction that earlier were made around printing and storage. So for corporate it’s a win-win deal!!!

Will 1Password ever support YubiKey?
[Disclaimer: I work for 1Password. This answer was updated September 4, 2018.]You can use your YubiKey to sign in to your 1Password account. However, even without a YubiKey, every 1Password account is protected by your Secret Key in addition to your Master Password. From our “About your Secret Key” support article:Your Secret Key is 34 letters and numbers, separated by dashes. It’s stored on devices you’ve used to sign in to your account, and in your Emergency Kit. Only you have access to it. Your Secret Key works with your Master Password – which only you know – to encrypt your data and keep it safe.If you’re familiar with two-factor authentication, you already know the benefits of having a second factor in addition to your password. Your Secret Key can be thought of as a second factor, but unlike most two-factor authentication systems, it is a true encryption factor. This makes it much stronger than two-factor authentication systems which rely solely on authentication.Your Secret Key isn’t sent to you from an authentication server, so it can’t be reset, intercepted, or evaded. It encrypts your data before your devices send any data over the Internet.Because you need to memorize your Master Password, it can only be so strong – about 40 bits of entropy on average. Your Secret Key doesn’t need to be memorized, so it can be much stronger. It has 128 bits of entropy, making it infeasible to guess no matter how much money or computing power an attacker has available. We call this approach to multiple factors Two-Secret Key Derivation, and 1Password is the first and only password manager to offer this level of protection. If you also want to add traditional two-factor authentication on top of that, 1Password offers that too, and you can use your YubiKey for it.Learn moreWhat are the benefits of a 1Password membership?About your Secret KeyUse your YubiKey to sign in to your 1Password account1Password Security Design White Paper [PDF]
