signNow is the most widely used and accepted eSignature vendor. It also has a number of industry certifications like ISO 27001 which make it easy for lawyers and bankers to accept signNow documents.Another point of consideration is to always use a solution that's already accepted by big Financial Institutions and Investors. Google Ventures, Ameritrade, Lincoln Financial, LPL Financial and GE Capital all use signNow (and that's just he ones that we can publicly talk about). There is obviously a bunch of other considerations points but I'd probably start with those. Disclaimer: I work for signNow.

What are the best electronic signature (e-signature) solutions on the market, in your opinion?
[full disclosure: I’m VP Digital Transformation at Solutions Notarius Inc., a company that supplies electronic and digital signature solutions]It completely depends on the requirements. I do not believe there is a uniquely better e-signature solution for all scenarios. For example, if the type of documents to be signed require low to medium reliability only, most modern e-signature platforms could be ok, subject to meeting legal requirements in the applicable jurisdiction, but if the document must meet stringent regulatory and statutory requirements that include high reliability of identity of signers, those platforms do not typically meet that threshold.Ideally, you would analyze, define and obtain agreement as to what constitutes the minimal acceptable legal reliability threshold you are willing to accept - or that readers of that document will accept. Next, define the technology requirements that correspond to that threshold. Finally, research e-signature options that meet these requirements and provide the best combination of price, features, scalability, etc..Finally, it should be noted that higher legal reliability e-signature platforms and solutions can always accommodate lower reliability documents while the converse is not true…

What is one Internet-related problem that hasn't been solved by technology?
What is one Internet-related problem that hasn't been solved by technology?Ubiquitous encrypted messaging (e-mail).I keep expecting to wake up finding that someone has solved the general problem of sending encrypted personal e-mail. I know, you can use bolt-on solutions to get encrypted e-mail (like PGP, Virtru, Encrypted Zip, etc.) but it’s hardly simple or straightforward enough for Grandma to use it, let alone trust it.The “big problem” is identity. I want to have encryption where there is a guarantee of who I am. That it is really “me” sending this message and not someone else. To get that, I am willing to get keys, have them signed, have their provenance documented. But the cost of this is either high on the technical side or high on the cost side (both of which aren’t reasonable for Grandma).Ubiquitous encrypted messaging would mean that when Grandma got an e-mail from her bank, it had been encrypted or, at least, signed at the bank, and she could trust that it wasn’t sent from a scammer in Nigeria. At least as certain as she is when she securely connects to her banking web site using HTTPS.And, just like HTTPS the solution could reasonably require companies to get the provenance (just like they get the certs for their web sites) but Grandma should be able to get her cert cheap (organizations that have a stake in protecting their clients could offer cert services like churches, fraternal organizations, banks, etc.). These certs could be in the form of cheap USB sticks, devices like Ubikeys, or her phone, which Grandma takes home and registers with her OS or e-mail application, which thereafter signs everything that comes out, and encrypts when it knows the recipients certs. The signature would be essentially anonymous except to those she wants not to be anonymous (family, the aforementioned bank, etc.).I worked with a CPA at one point and was shocked to discover that all of the communication flowing between the CPA and their customers was unencrypted, including attachments (and many of these were banks, and not little ones!). When I suggested using encrypted e-mail I got a blank stare. “E-mail is secure, isn’t it? I double check the TO address on the e-mail.”Forget the flying car, where’s the encrypted messaging?

How do digital signatures and electronic signatures differ?
Many people think that electronic signatures are the same as digital signatures but that is not the case. In fact, digital signatures are a highly secured way to implement electronic signatures.Digital signatures use a public and private key generation framework, signature algorithm and a verification algorithm to match public and private keys and validate the authenticity of electronic signatures.Ever since the passing of the E-Sign Act in 2000, electronic signatures have acquired as much weight as the traditional wet or ink signature. As a result, electronic signatures have become widely used to conduct business online. This term is quite broad however, and not all electronic signatures constitute as digital signatures, which are guaranteed to fulfill the requirements decreed by the E-Sign Act. These terms include:– The customer’s intent to sign, as well as the consent to sign electronically– The software’s ability to maintain document integrity through unique identifiers– The company’s responsibility to retain all documents for legal purposesWhat does it mean? In a nutshell, every document requiring a digital signature has, in effect, a unique key attached to it. This is done using a public key infrastructure (PKI). Public key is generated & attested by the operator of the PKI called a Certificate Authority, and is held by the document owner, who can then pass on copies to his or her clients. Once the client signs, a unique key (private key) message becomes embedded inside the document. If anyone tries to tamper with the document, the software algorithm will detect it and invalidate the document.Due to increased identity theft in recent years, it has become ever more important for documents to be signed under a watchful eye, whether that be through digital or in-person witnesses. Companies that value your security will enact several layers of protection to ensure that every document is using digital signatures and is legally secure. At signNow, we use industry-standard encryption, time stamps, in-document visibility control, and e-mail authentication to discourage electronic forgery. signNow complies with the E-Sign Act, as well as UETA, HIPAA, and more.

In your opinion, how are electronic signatures better than handwritten “wet” signatures?
First of all, digital signatures offer a much higher security and convenience factor - most digital signature software out there comes with quite a few encryptions to keep your documents secure, there are digital trails that track every change that happens to the document (such as signature added/removed, or any other alteration), quite a few applications also show a progress bar of how the signing process is going, you can assign signatures, add remarks and stamps - all on your mobile device. There is no need to track the person to get their signature - just wait for them to sign. This is incredibly efficient compared to the ‘wet’ signatures. So, the main factors are security, speed, audit trails, process monitoring and the ability to do all these tasks on the go and on multiple devices/platforms.If you’re in the market for such an application that offers all these features and more, I suggest checking out signNow by Kdan. It’s intuitive, user-friendly and besides being highly secure, it’s a good fit for both small and medium-sized companies, individuals, start-ups and all kinds of businesses. While there is plenty of e-signature software out there, signNow stands out due to its well thought-out tools, well designed and user-friendly interface and it’s multi-platform, so there’s no need to compromise on anything.Disclaimer: I am part of Kdan’s team, and my answers might be a bit biased.

How difficult is it to forge a signature?
It is quite difficult to succeed at forging a signature. You can try. But most graphologists would easily see the distinctions between your efforts and those of the original signer. There are many signature characteristics that we as amateurs don’t even notice. The slant, the placement of the letter forms, above, below the line; placement of crossed T’s, capitalizations, hesitancies, where you dot your i’s and how. All of these create the unique signature that is yours or someone else’s.Even if you traced the signature to create a forgery, there would be telltale signs observable to a professional.
