How valid is a PDF document that I signed on my computer (image of my signature) vs my actual signature on the printed document?
Although every state has passed laws that involve e-signatures, under the federal ESIGN Act, your electronic signature on a .pdf is just as valid as your physical signature. The ESIGN Act provides that a contract or signature “may not be denied legal effect, validity, or enforceability solely because it is in electronic form.” This simple statement means that electronic signatures and records are just as good as their paper equivalents, and therefore subject to the same legal scrutiny of authenticity and burden of proof standards that apply to paper documents. So unless your signature was forged, given under duress, or you refused to sign via electronic means (or there's some other reason to invalidate the contract), the executed .pdf copy may be enforced against you.

Is there an industry standard e-signature software that insurance companies use for online life insurance sales?
Many insurance companies use signNow for their e-signature needs. It has the best online link/forms solution in the esign industry so that you can integrate new enrollments directly from your website. There's also a flexible API for integrations as well. If you want to send documents in bulk for esigning, like customer renewals, you can do that too. There's also an in-person signing feature for clients right in your office. signNow just integrated with Salesforce and has payment processing capabilities as well. signNow is easy to use, cost-effective and has great customer service if you have any issues. You can sign up for signNow's free trial on their website and request to see a webinar to check out how it will work for your requirements.

Why is paperless office, despite decades of promise and hope, remain out of mainstream? What are the reasons?
There are number of possible reasons:- technology has come a long way towards the conversion of paper to digital, but there remain factors that have not yet been overcome in a robust way. For example, some office documents simply can not be signed digitally due to regulatory or industry restrictions. The tools to determine if a digital document has been tampered with are not readily available, making a paper document, stored in a safe environment more secure (for now). - since the tools to go paperless are not yet completely available, and a regular part of our daily life, there is still a generational factor that leads to reluctance to move away from what's known. Paper is still tangible. - capturing signatures on paper is simple and an accepted practice. The tools to capture that same signature digitally are only now becoming accessible. That means the original copy is still needed, even if it is also stored digitally. - you can't staple digital copies. That may seem odd, but consider that a stapled package of papers will have some obvious consistencies to it. A multi page digital document could be modified in any number of ways and it would be difficult to detect a change from the original source. I live in Canada and the government is starting to go more digital. This is a good trend and will make it easier for businesses to also modify their paper archiving requirements. Places like the Apple stores have virtually eliminated paper from their systems. The move to paperless is underway! The necessary technology tools are becoming more pervasive and we are probably only a few years away from having more examples of completely paperless offices in North America.

I'm looking for a solution to collect someone's signature online
Many businesses actively collect e-signature online while working with partners and customers in order to add one or more signatures to an already typed document by using some specialized tool that easily integrates into a document workflow. For many use cases, it is needed to sign an already typed document and avoid signing digital documents by hand - which is tedious otherwise cause you need to print, sign and scan all that stuff - that’s why such electronic signature tools are used - and, in this case, it is better to use a specialized tool, like Draw Your Signature Online and Sign PDF - ...

How do you sign on the electronic signature pad with your finger since it looks like scribbling?
A signature pad is a device that is used to esign documents. It is a combination of electronic signatures and handwritten signatures. To sign a document using a signature pad, you need to write your signature on a digital pad using your finger or a pen-style stylus, which then captures your handwriting and converts it into an electronic format. This electronic signature [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electronic_signature ] is then added to the document, along with a graphic that shows your handwriting. Thus, the signature pad is somewhat similar to a wet ink signature. Most esign software solutions also offer a biometric interpretation of the signature. This means that the software will scan the signature and match it to the specimen signatures that are on file. It will also analyze specific details of the signature, including how hard the pen is pressed, the writing speed, the angle of the pen against the surface, and so on to match the signatures, then the identity of the signer is safely authenticated. You must have the following to esign documents [ https://www.esignly.com/ ]: * A signature pad * eSign Software that enables the signature pad. A variety of vendors supports Signature pads from Interlink, Topaz, and any WinTab, etc. You need to install both hardware and software on the end user's computer. To store sample signatures and compares all new signatures to the samples, usually, there is a server-side. Signature Pad signatures require a certain level of overhead to create and maintain and are more useful than digital signatures. In general, large organizations that need legal signatures from their customers, such as banks, are good candidates for Signature Pad signatures. Benefits of Digital Signature Pad for your organization - * Front and back end operations are optimized. * It controls and store documents electronically * It reduces document loss. * Improve Operational Efficiency by eliminating print consumable costs and paper storage needs.

Are there any alternative easier/free ways for electronic signatures for documents?
In an era when most of our documents, driving directions, and Groupons can get pulled up on our smartphones, most of us no longer own printers or scanners. Forthrightly, we don't miss these space-sucking products – that is, until we get an email asking us to return a document with our signature. Short of going to and paying for the services at a Kinkos, or waiting till you're back in the office, you may think you are out of luck. Fortunately, there are several electronic signature apps you can use to sign documents electronically. Most companies may let you sign using a secure digital signature, but this is a different realm altogether. What is a signatureA signature is simply someone demonstrating their intent to approve something—it could even be a written "X" instead of a sign. The e signature solutions hold a similar legal weight as physical ones on paper. You can also email your client a contract document. You can also write in the email, "If you agree to the attached contract, reply in an email confirming your approval." Their emailed positive response will count as a legal approval equal in weight to a signature in the court of law. Same thing for PDF form documents that they write their name into, save, and email back to you."Signing something using your computer is much more convenient than validation a hard copy.Alternatives to electronic signatureRegrettably, the whole world is not as tech-savvy as you, and there may be certain people or businesses that don't know how to use the electronic signature service. There are commercial operations which will record your data, then print an electronic marker on a document to confirm your identity. There are of course tick boxes for less essential documents. If there is any question of identity raised, a court will decide if a contract has gotten correctly executed and if the form of execution was adequate. Also, there may be stipulations in legislation as to how the particular document must be signed using the electronic signature software. You don't even need a third-party application.

What is the best way of pasting an image of your signature into a PDF document on Windows?
Do you (i) just want to paste the image, or do you want to (ii) tie this to a digital signature? You can do it either way with signNow Pro. (i) If you are just pasting the image then use the Comment markup tool called 'stamps'. In Acrobat 9 Pro this is accessed via Comments %3E Comment & Markup Tools %3E Stamps %3E Create Custom Stamp. Here you can select the page from any existing PDF file and use that as your image. There's also a shortcut if you just want to past an image file, as Joel Geraci points out: "copy your signature to the clipboard, open the file in Acrobat, paste. The image will become a 'stamp' that you can then size and position as needed." (ii) Acrobat digital signatures allow you to configure an image to be used when signing with a public private key pair. The advantage is that the document is protected from tampering by a cryptographic hash. The tools for creating a signature appearance are found under Preferences %3E Security. Look for Digital Signatures %3E Appearance, click New, select Imported Graphic and click File. You then select the page of a PDF file, just as you did with the stamp tool. Note that you'll need a certificate (public private key pair) to use with this feature, but it is fairly easy to create your own self-signed certificate. How do you turn the scan of your signature into a page of a PDF? For a bitmap result just drag the image onto Acrobat, or open the image file using the Acrobat File %3E Open menu command, making sure to select 'show all files' in the Open dialog. If you want a nice line art signature you will need to trace your signature and save it as a PDF. signNow Illustrator has a great trace feature that can be used for this purpose.

What is it like to attend an SSC stenographer skill test?
I am sharing my experience on the process and steps which happen in the day of my ssc skill test for the post of stenographer Grd C and D. Hope some beginners, before skill test gets some knowledge. This experience I am sharing is of 2014 exam's skill test in 2015 and may or may not be valid this year.1) After the written results are out, within few days admit cards for the skill test are sent to respective candidates by post and also available online.2) Those who qualify for both grade c and d then the candidate has to give two skill test in the same day but in two different batches as the candidates are divided into batches(normally 4 or 5 batches). this will be mentioned in their respective admit cards.3) On the date of skill test, the candidates were given seats and they will be called for signature, left thumb impression, etc and they will be given preference option form for grade c and d combined. The candidate has to think before hand( means, as the option form will be most probably available online, as it was in my time, the candidate can think and put their preference in home itself.) and at last putting the signature on the option form and waiting in their seats to be called for Document check.4) Original documents are being checked and self-attested xerox copies are taken and for date of birth, 10th certificate is checked, caste certificate and their cut off date, validity is checked. Then they take the option form from us and put the final preference online in front of us and it is electronically sent to main office. They print our details, like name, roll no, category, etc and paste it in a brown colour big file like envelope in which our educational certificate xerox copies, our particulars will be sealed and sent to the respective office.5) Then they will call students for skill test in another room, full of computers, if less computers are there they will have to wait or another computer room will be allotted. The candidates are provided with Shorthand notebook and we have to sign in all the pages and write our roll numbers and then the process of skill test starts. In front of the computer, the candidates have to take the dictation and transcribe/type.= Firstly, the candidates are given two trial passage of both 2 minutes so that the sound gets familiarized to us and if any difficulty in speech of speaker or quality, or pronunciation, then candidate can tell the speaker. They are very cooperating. 1 or 2 professional stenographers will also write take the dictation with us so that all things go fair.6) Then the actual 10 minutes dictation takes place after the two trail passages of 80 or 100 wmp speed. After the dictation, 10 minutes will be given to use for reading in mind, our written strokes.7) The actual typing takes place after 10 minutes of reading in mind. the software in which we will type has its own timer so as soon as the invigilator tells us to enter our roll no. and click the start button, we click and then the count down starts and we are provided with blank space for typing the matter. After time is over, automatically, the keys will be disabled.8) Then we are kept seated, have some chit-chat with fellow candidates in silence that "tera kaisa gya, me to fail yaar", like that. By that time, the staff members gets all of our typed matter printed out and given to us for signature and then taken back. then we submit our Shorthand notebook and printed copy of our typed passage and then we leave the hall and another batch enters the hall.
