What is the best PDF editing app?
If you’re use Mac or Windows and own an iOS or Android phone, stick to signNow. Go for signNow on your Mac or Windows with the annual subscription and use signNow on your iOS and Android device. However if you use a Windows PC and have a Windows 10 Mobile device then go for Foxit products. Foxit PhantomPDF Business on Windows with CnnectedPDF and Foxit MobilePDF on Windows 10 Mobile make the perfect pair.iOS and Android users with Foxit PhantomPDF Business subscription can use Foxit PDF Business & Converter on their phones too, but I don’t recommend it because it isn’t exactly stable on them, it’s especially unstable on Android. It’s really weird considering the fact that it’s highly stable on Windows 10 Mobile.Of course if you’re too used to the ribbon UI of Microsoft Office 2016 then Foxit PhantomPDF would feel more familiar to you. While the UI of signNow can often feel odd-ball to some users, especially the new versions of signNow.

Is there a way to install Office word 2016 only?
Here’s one more to go with all the:YES you can, andNo you can’t …responsesFrustratingly most all of them appear to be correct. Here’s Microsoft’s position on the subject:In Office 2016 and Office 2013 you can’t custom select which Office applications you want to install. However, you can delete shortcuts to applications you don’t plan to use. Also, you can only install Office on the system drive where your operating system is installed. That’s usually your C: drive. From: Can I do a custom install of individual Office suite applications? And here’s what you get if you try to uninstall only some titles withing the subscription product:Or in other words there no option “…way to install Office word 2016 only…” unless you purchase the Word retail product.

Why does Microsoft require you to purchase a Windows license with each laptop but Apple's macOS is a free download?
Huh?macOS is not a “free download”. The macOS 10.14 Software License Agreement (https://www.apple.com/legal/sla/...) is crystal clear about this.2. Permitted License Uses and Restrictions.A. Preinstalled and Single-Copy Apple Software License.Subject to the terms and conditions of this License, unless you obtained the Apple Software from the Mac App Store, through an automatic download or under a volume license, maintenance or other written agreement from Apple, you are granted a limited, non-exclusive license to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer at any one time. For example, these single-copy license terms apply to you if you obtained the Apple Software preinstalled on Apple-branded hardware.B. Mac App Store License. If you obtained a license for the Apple Software from the Mac App Store or through an automatic download, then subject to the terms and conditions of this License and as permitted by the Services and Content Usage Rules set forth in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions (Legal - Apple Media Services - Apple) (“Usage Rules”), you are granted a limited, non-transferable, non-exclusive license to download, install, use and run for personal, non-commercial use, one (1) copy of the Apple Software directly on each Apple-branded computer running macOS High Sierra, macOS Sierra, OS X El Capitan, OS X Yosemite, OS X Mavericks, OS X Mountain Lion or OS X Lion (“Mac Computer”) that you own or controlI’ve bolded the most important part here. You have to have purchased a Mac already in order to be entitled to install macOS. “Free with the purchase of” is NOT FREE in any sense of the word. It’s marketing malarkey, nothing more. (Mental exercise: Would Porsche proclaiming “FREE 3.0L flat 6 engine with the purchase of every Porsche 911!” sound stupid? Yeah it would, right?)Besides, Apple doesn’t even offer macOS as free a download on their web site, as people like Roberto Santocho routinely falsely asserts on Quora. You can sign up for an Apple Developer Account and download macOS disk images that way, yes, but you have to pay for that. You can, of course, get new versions of macOS via Software Update or the Mac App Store, but this is all done internally to macOS — it’s not a downloadable link on their web site. You could use the “macOS Mojave Patcher”, which is a third-party hack to enable installing Mojave on otherwise unsupported Macs. This program does have a facility to download a copy of Mojave that can be used to create a bootable USB stick. It works, but let’s be super clear here: this goes against what the macOS license allows. And yeah, you’ll see a lot of guides online, like this one from Linus Tech Tips, that show you how to install macOS without paying for it:But again, as Linus Sebastien states in that video, these are all violations of the macOS license. If you go down this route, Apple is under no obligation to provide working updates to you. Worse still, they may decide one day to say “hey, let’s fuck these freeloaders over” and format the hard drives of every Hackintosh or weird VM-based setup out there…. well, that sure wouldn’t be nice, but that’s a risk you must accept.Let’s contrast this with what Microsoft does with Windows 10.They have a public web page called: “Download Windows 10”. From there you can download the Media Creation Tool, which will let you create your own USB stick or ISO image:When you install Windows off this image, you will be prompted for a product key…. but you can hit “Skip” and the installation will finish and you will have a running but unactivated copy of Windows 10.Now, you are expected to pay for Windows — so you either need to type the product key for your license of Windows that came with your computer, or you need to buy a digital entitlement through the Microsoft Store, which becomes permanently associated with your Microsoft Account. Then, in the future, all you have to do is log into your computer with that Microsoft Account, and Windows is activated automatically. There are, of course, various tools available that will activate Windows 10 without a product key. This has been the case since the Windows XP days when “Product Activation” was introduced to reduce the rampant piracy of Windows 2000 product keys. But if you do that, you’re in exactly the same position as the so-called “free” macOS. This is disallowed by the Windows End User License Agreement, and Microsoft is under no obligation to provide you with a working computer on an ongoing basis.Frankly, if you don’t want to pay for your operating system, you shouldn’t bother with either macOS or Windows. Get Linux or FreeBSD instead.

Which OS is better, Windows, macOS, or Linux?
Which OS is better, Windows, Mac OS X or Linux? I've used Windows my whole life and recently put Arch Linux on both my laptop and desktop. For the most part, I would say I'm a casual user (and still familiarizing myself with Arch at that). With that in mind (and do keep that in mind because some points will become more or less relevant as your expertise increases and you learn how to do more with your OS), here are some (mostly superficial) pros of Windows and Linux (specifically Arch Linux).WindowsVisually pleasing. Linux is highly customizable and gives you a lot of choices when it comes to appearance (starting from your selection of a...

Why do so many tech people seem to dislike Windows?
I use Windows all the time. Though I hate it less as time goes on, I have a ton of gripes that leave a historical distaste in my mouth. Windows is not for engineers, and they make it clear all along the way.Shell. Until the recent introduction of bash, no compatible-to-Unix shell. Yes, there are the Cygwin add-ons but the Command Prompt and Powershell were just gratuitously incompatible. Work done scripting in Unix would have to be fully ported to work on Windows.Profound fragility. Minor problems in the Registry caused by botched program or driver installs could demolish the whole system. Better since WHQL and signed drivers, but I spent a lot of time untangling wildly broken systems. Ask me about right click context menus, or invasive video drivers that hook keyboard shortcuts.Abysmal security. In the name of backwards compatibility, Windows had used a fully insecure OS file system until Windows Vista, maintained a terrible multiuser and privilege escalation model, a super vulnerable kernel space, and insanely bad file sharing. Disk encryption is STILL not standard. All much better in Windows 10 than Windows XP, but still well short of world class. It took forever to get free, basic antimalware protection natively into the OS.Hostility to standards.Internet Explorer borked the Web for years with it’s half-hearted and broken standards support and its crazy ActiveX model. I was pleased to see it crushed by Web 2.0.It took 40 years to support VT codes in shell. Microsoft is making the Windows command line a lot betterActive Directory and CIFS are all closed up tight and lock out interoperability and multi-platform applications.Unicode support? Screw you, you’ll take what we give you. Here, have some Windows-1252.Not exactly Windows, but Outlook and Exchange are grotesque abominations that have done immeasurable damage to Internet email with their insistence on using Word as an editor and endless hacks like WINMAIL.DAT.Hacks upon hacks. Install .NET 3.5! No wait! You also need a Visual C++ library. Don’t forget to add Java! Hold on, get Silverlight, too! Did you get the right version? If not, I will crash in a weird way! This was improved slightly with Side-by-side assembly, but what a mess.Deep crapware. Microsoft’s OEM model encourages manufacturers to install lots of crap to make extra money, up to and including spyware like Superfish. Recovering to a clean machine used to be almost impossible. Things like “Microsoft Signature” installs and the ability to download a clean installer have helped to alleviate this, as have stronger OEM guidelines. For a while it was the wild fricking west getting a Windows machine. The first thing I do when I get one is wipe it clean and install from Microsoft Media. This has only recently become possible.Predatory business practices. Microsoft illegally crushed competition through unfair processes (United States v. Microsoft Corp.) and immoral ones (Embrace, extend, and extinguish)Outright hostility to user feedback. We’re big. We don’t need to care. Hose off. Maybe slightly better with the whole “Windows Insider” program and Feedback Center, but I’ve had little luck getting bugs fixed. No built in Backup. Nothing like Time Machine. Need 3rd party backup. File History is OK, but the whole software install model of Windows is so broken prior to Modern/Store based installs than anything short of an image backup would recover the system. See: Why I Recommend Macs by Phillip Remaker on Phil's Random BlatheringSummary: Microsoft is getting better, but they have a long, long history of pissing me off. That’s why I primarily use a Mac.
