this is stacy a goal from integrity first technology solutions and in this video we will be reviewing how to redact information from a document if you're starting with a document in Microsoft Word the first thing that you need to do is convert it to a PDF to do so go to file save as select a save location and change the save as type to PDF and select save you can see that I now have my Microsoft Word document as a PDF in Adobe now if you start with a document in Adobe or you've converted your Microsoft Word document into an Adobe PDF you now have to make that document searchable or run what's known as OCR or optical character recognition click on enhance scans and click on recognize text in this file make sure that pages are set to all pages and then click on recognize text this will loop through all the pages in your document and convert the scanned page to searchable images and text all right now that our document is searchable we need to do the actual redaction so to pull up the redact tool go to tools go to the protect and standardize section and click on redact as you can see we now have the redact tool bar pulled up in this example we have a sample contract and we want to redact test Company A or the name of the client from the contract to do so we will click on mark for redaction and say text and images you should get this pop-up that says redaction allows you to permanently black out and remove sensitive content simply click OK and we're now ready to redact to redact the text simply highlight it with the mouse and you can see it is now marked with a red box when I highlight over it it looks like what it will look like whenever it's permanently redacted so you can see it's a red box when the mouse isn't over it to tell you that in fact that text is marked for redaction or when I highlight it it then changes to what it will look like when it's redacted since we have the information marked for redaction we now want to apply that so go to the redact tool bar and click on apply Adobe will tell me that we're about to permanently remove all content that's been marked for redaction once the document is saved this operation cannot be undone are you sure you want to continue select okay and you can see that redactions have been successfully applied it also will ask if you'd like to find and remove hidden information from your document normally I would select yes but in this video we will select no now your final step to apply this redaction is to save the document so go to save select a location and notice that Adobe has done you a favor and...
