How does Phil Libin (CEO of Evernote) organize his Evernote stacks, notebooks, notes and tags?
Thanks for asking! Let's see:One of my favorite things about Evernote is that I never feel like I'm stuck in a particular organizational scheme. I change my mind about how to organize things every few months and it's easy to move things around.Mostly, I don't rely on organization in Evernote; I just search for what I'm looking for. There are some new features coming out soonish that'll make that really nice.As of the time of this answer, I have about 9,000 notes in my Evernote account divided among 45 notebooks. However, the majority of these notes are in my single, default notebook. ...

What is the best LSI keyword research tool?
What Are LSI Keywords And Why You Need ThemBefore looking further into free LSI tools, you might still be confused about what LSI keywords are. If you are already a pro at SEO and are just here for the tools, you can skip this part. However, if not, here we go.LSI stands for latent semantic indexing, and simply speaking LSI keywords are just related keywords. That includes not only synonyms of your topic, but also other words that would often occur when writing about that topic. For example when your blog post is about "Apple", search engines use LSI keywords to identify whether that post is about the fruit or the brand.Accordingly, with the use of LSI keywords you help search engines to better understand your content, which will increase your content’s relevance for a specific topic and thus increases its ranking. If you want to know more, read about how to use LSI keywords!Free LSI ToolsNow that we got the basic information out of the way, let’s not wait any longer but take a look at free LSI tools. These tools are in no particular order. If you are looking for a specific tool, you can refer to this table of contents.1. Keys4upKeys4up is a very simple LSI keyword generator that provides you with around 10 LSI keywords per search query. If you want to have access to the full keyword list you have to register with your mail address. After some more search queries, however, the webpage wants you to share this tool on your social media to further receive the full keyword list, which is quite inconvenient. It is possible to export either the full keywords provided or a selection of those as a CSV file. Further, the tool gives you the option to display LSI keywords containing either 1, 2, or more than 3 words. This makes it easy if you are specifically looking for short- or long tail keywords. A special feature of this tool is the “4Up” index which represents an indication of how often you should include that LSI keyword in your content.Of course, the number of how often you include a keyword in your content should also strongly depend on its length. However, especially for beginners this is a helpful feature.Additionally, this LSI keyword tool has its keywords organized in a visually pleasing manner. So, if you are looking for a simple LSI keyword tool to boost your content, Keys4up might be the right tool for your LSI keyword research.Usability: Very easyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: Unlimited after sign-upSpecial feature: 4Up indexBiggest drawback: Even after sign-up additional actions are needed for continuous free usage2. Twinword Ideas LSI GraphTwinword Ideas LSI Graph is another interesting tool. Instead of a list, it visualizes the semantic relationships between keywords. You get an unlimited amount of search queries without any limit on generated LSI keywords.Compared to all the other free LSI tools, Twinword Idea's LSI Graph generates unique LSI keywords that are able to increase the relatedness of your content with your topic. Read more about how to use this LSI Graph to improve your content's relevance.Additional to the LSI Graph you can also check out trending related keywords including information such as search volume, organic competition, paid competition and relevance. All of that information can be either visualized in a graph or downloaded as an Excel, CSV or Open Document file.Next to that, Twinword Ideas can also generate keyword suggestions for your topic and lets you filter those by user intents such as know, do, and buy.Overall, Twinword Ideas and its LSI Graph can not only find the right LSI keywords for your content, but can also assist your future content creation with its additional tools.Usability: EasyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: UnlimitedSpecial feature: Visual LSI GraphBiggest drawback: LSI keywords can’t be exported3. LSI GraphThis LSI Graph is a simple yet commonly used free LSI keyword tool. Without signup you only get a few searches a day including around 50 LSI keywords each. Even after signup that daily search query limit increases only to around 20 search queries.Further, this tool generates many long-tail keywords, meaning that a keyword usually contains at least three words, as well as questions and sentences that could be used as title inspiration. In the screenshot below you can see that with "avocado" as the main keyword, LSI Graph would suggest to include keywords like "avocado health benefits" and "growing avocados". Those suggestions could be used as the main topic of my blog post. Therefore, this tool can be useful in the beginning stages of your content creation. However, considering the limited number of search queries, you have to be sure of which keywords you want to analyze.Unfortunately, LSI Graph does not give the option to export either the full generated list, or a selection of the list. However, the LSI keyword list can easily be copied and pasted into other documents. As the tool is called LSI Graph, one might have expected some visual presentation of the generated list. But that is not the case. The tool does not have any special features and does not provide any additional information, but is very easy to use and does not require any specific skills or knowledge about SEO.Usability: Very easyNo. of search queries: Around 20 per dayNo of keywords: Around 50Special feature: -Biggest drawback: Limited search queries4. Niche LaboratoryThis free LSI keyword generator crates not only LSI keywords but provides you with a lot more information about your searched keyword. Such as, a list of top webpages, article ideas, long-tail keywords, resources, related niches, a brief competition analysis, and more. Hence, Niche Laboratory can be useful in the exploration stage of content creation. The tool gives you more than 150 LSI keywords per search query, and even more can be unlocked by registering or by downloading the Pro version. Unfortunately, the list can’t be sorted and exported, but it can easily be copied and pasted into another file.Although this tool displays unique information, a lot of it might not be useful for you. Also, the LSI keyword list itself does not deliver any additional information despite being ranked by relevance.Overall, this tool is probably more helpful in the beginning stages of your content creation, as opposed to simply searching for LSI keywords after the full content has already been created.Usability: EasyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: 150+Special feature: Unique informationBiggest drawback: Not every information is useful5. Twinword SEO PluginA very helpful WordPress plugin for your LSI keyword research is the Twinword SEO plugin. This plugin automatically suggests LSI keywords related to your post while you are writing. It also provides each keyword’s monthly search volume, number of results, and KEI (Keyword Efficiency Index). With this information it is easy to choose which words to include. The free version of this plugin supports 2 search queries per day.The plugin has an Auto Keyword Suggestions option as well as a Manual Keyword Suggestions option. With Auto, Twinword SEO plugin scans what you have written so far and suggests other related keywords you can use. With Manual, you can type in keywords yourself and get related keywords and phrases.Due to the keyword usage tracking you can automatically see which LSI keywords you already included in your post, which gives you a great overview.Usability: Very easyNo. of search queries: Free plan includes 5 per dayNo of keywords: UnlimitedSpecial feature: Generates keywords while you are writingBiggest drawback: Limited search queries6. Semantic LinkSemantic Link is another simplistic free LSI keyword generator. Different from other LSI tools, Semantic Link analyzes text from the English Wikipedia to find pairs of words that are semantically related. It does so by using a statistical measure that is called MI, short for “mutual information”. Using this method, the LSI keyword generator provides you with the top 100 related keywords for each query.A big disadvantage, however, is that the tool only analyzes keywords with at least 1,000 occurrences in Wikipedia. That results in this tool not being useful for numerous keywords. For example, the previously used search term "avocado" does not work with Semantic Link.Another drawback is that the generated LSI keywords can’t be exported into a different file and are difficult to copy due to each keyword being a clickable button. All of this makes the usage of Semantic Link inconvenient despite its simplicity.Accordingly, although Semantic Link might be an easy tool for occasional usage on popular topics, it certainly is not the best fit for discovering new topics.Usability: Very easyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: Top 100Special feature: -Biggest drawback: Only keywords with at least 1,000 occurrences in Wikipedia can be analyzed7. LSI KeywordsLSI Keywords is a simple LSI keyword and long-tail keyword tool that differentiates itself from other free LSI tools with additional features and information. For each search query the LSI keyword generator displays up to 5000 Keywords and further provides the monthly volume, CPC and competition information for each generated keyword.Interesting about this tool is that you can not only analyze one keyword, but 10 keywords at a time. This means that you could put all your main keywords into this tool at the same time to generate a more precise LSI keyword list for your content. The full generated keyword list can be exported into an excel, CSV or PDF file. But, unfortunately, the tool does not have the option to export only a selected number of keywords. However, with the help of the search function, you can export a list of keywords containing a specific word.Another helpful option is the country filter, which enables you to choose between either all countries, or one of the following countries: US, Australia, Canada, India New Zealand, South Africa, UK. You can also choose whether you want to generate a list of only LSI keywords, long-tail keywords, or both. While using the tool, however, I noticed that if you decide to search only for LSI keywords, the tool sometimes does not provide any LSI keywords even for easy search terms such as "computer". In combination with long-tail keywords it seems to be no problem, but that is certainly an issue to consider especially if you are a frequent user.Usability: EasyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: Up to 5000Special feature: Can analyze up to 10 keywords togetherBiggest drawback: LSI search does not work for every word8. Ultimate Keyword HunterThe Ultimate Keyword Hunter is a unique free LSI keyword generator that you need to download and install before usage. Unfortunately, it is only available for Windows computers. This tool certainly is more difficult to use than most other free LSI tools and requires a few steps before you get to your LSI keyword list. But, a tutorial is provided on their webpage. With the LSI tool being more complicated than others, it also comes with special features that can be helpful for your content creation. Basically, the tool analyses the up to 50 first websites that come up on google for the chosen keyword.Based on that it generates your LSI keyword list. You can set how many pages you want the tool to analyze from 10 to 50, and you can also select the maximum words each generated LSI keyword is supposed to contain, with up to 10 words.Following, the tool presents you the pages it is about to analyze, where again you can filter out specific sites that you don’t want to analyze. After the analysis has been completed, the keywords have been separated according to their length. Further, you receive the information about how often each keyword was found on all the analyzed pages, and on how many pages it occurred. With this feature comes the option to sort your keywords accordingly.Additionally, you can filter for specific text that the keyword should contain, and the keyword list can be exported into a CSV file. Lastly, this LSI tool lets you directly analyze your written text with the generated keywords and indicates which LSI keywords have not been used so far.All in all, Ultimate Keyword Hunter is a great all-rounder with many added features that can be handy if you are a frequent and slightly more advanced user.Usability: OKNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: UnlimitedSpecial feature: Direct text analysisBiggest drawback: Not available for Mac and needs to be installed9. Answer The PublicYou might have heard already about Answer The Public as a keyword suggestion tool, but in fact it can also function as an LSI keyword generator as it gives you related words for each search query. In total, this tool generates questions, keywords containing prepositions, comparisons, an alphabetical keyword list, and last but not least, related keywords. All of these can be either displayed visually, or in list format, and the keywords can be downloaded as a CSV file, while images can be saved as pictures. Unfortunately, the related keywords section itself is only around 20 keywords, however, with the help of all the other suggested keywords you can find enough related keywords to use in your content.Although the number of different keywords might be a bit overwhelming at first, the tool is easier to use than expected. Also, depending on your preference you can choose between visual presentation of the keywords or a simple list format.Unfortunately, the free version lets you analyze keywords only with data from the UK and in English, which can be a huge drawback when you are targeting a specific country other than the UK.Usability: EasyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: Around 20 related keywordsSpecial feature: Visual representationBiggest drawback: Keywords get analyzed only with data from the UKOther Free AlternativesNext to these LSI tools, there are also several free keyword suggestion tools that can help you with your LSI keyword selection. As there are numerous keyword suggestion tools this blog post only covers a few, but in general you can do this with most keyword suggestion tools. So, in case you already have a favorite one, this section might help you to utilize them for your LSI keyword generation.10. Keyword ToolThe free version of Keyword Tool is, as already mentioned, not a designated LSI tool but can act as a simple alternative. It uses Autocomplete to generate keyword suggestions mostly longer than one word, as well as questions and keywords that include prepositions. As seen in the example below, for the search query avocado, it suggests that keywords like toast, nutrition, tree, and recipes, are keywords I might want to include in my content to increase its relevance to Google and other search engines. The tool can generate more than 500 keywords either from Google, Youtube, Bing, Amazon, Ebay, or the App Store, and is specific to the country and language you choose. This can help you to specify your content for a specific platform as well as for a specific country. Unfortunately, it is not possible to select all countries and languages at the same time, but you have to decide on one.The amount of search queries is unlimited, and the free version of this tool does not provide you with any additional information about the generated keywords. However, you can export or copy either the full list of keywords, or a selection of it, which is very convenient, and you have a search option to filter out keywords containing specific terms.Another additional feature of this tool is the negative keyword function, which lets you exclude unwanted keyword results. Respectively, the free version of this tool can be useful for you despite it not being an actual LSI keyword generator. Specifically, the platform and country filter are helpful to optimize your content.Usability: Very easyNo. of search queries: UnlimitedNo of keywords: 500+Special feature: Platform filterBiggest drawback: -11. KWFinderAnother great keyword suggestion tool to satisfy your LSI keyword needs is KWFinder. Similar to Keyword Tool, this LSI tool generates keywords mostly containing more than one word, making it easy for you to generate the right words to use in your content. The free version of KWFinder gives you only a few search queries per day that include around 50 generated keywords each. Further, you can choose between suggestions, autocomplete, or questions, and you can filter for countries and languages including the option to search for any country and any language. With the help of additional filters, you can include or exclude keywords from your generated list, or filter according to number of words and other factors. The full list of keywords or a selection of it can be copied or exported as a CSV file.As seen in the example below, when using autocomplete for the search term "avocado" the tool provides you with the same keywords as Keyword Tool, which is expected as they both use Google Autocomplete to generate these words. With this tool, however, you can also access additional information such as search volume, Cost Per Click, level of competition in PPC (Pay Per Click), and keyword difficulty, which can suggest you to use some words more often than others.Because this tool also generates questions and general keyword suggestions including Keyword SEO Difficulty scores, it is a great tool during the beginning stages of your content creation or when you are searching for new topics to endeavor. For the topic "avocado" KWFinder tells me that it will be hard to rank high for this topic. It also shows me the currently highest-ranking websites for avocado including lots of information about their website strength. Accordingly, I might decide to either change my topic or to target a more specific keyword. All in all, KWFinder is another all-rounder that can help you with your overall content creation as well as with your LSI keyword research. The only drawback is the free daily limit of search queries with the limited number of generated keywords. So, if you are a frequent user of this tool you might consider upgrading to one of the paid accounts to make full use of this tool’s potential.Usability: EasyNo. of search queries: A few per dayNo of keywords: Around 50Special feature: Keyword difficulty and level of competition in PPCBiggest drawback: Only 5 daily search queries with limited amount of keywordsFindingsSince you made it to the end of the list you might already know which of the tools is right for you. But if not, let me give you a brief recap. In general, it is important to consider how often you will use the tool and what you are going to use it for. The following table compares all free LSI tools.Which Tool Should I Use?If you just want a very quick and easy list of a few LSI keywords to include into the blog post you have already written, you might want to try out Keys4up or Twinword Ideas LSI Graph. If you are still within the early stages of your content creation, LSI tools that provide not only LSI keywords but give you access to more information, as well as keyword and topic suggestions can be helpful for you. In that case, check out Twinword Ideas or Answer The Public. If you are looking for a tool that assists you with LSI keywords while you are writing, you will probably like the Twinword SEO Plugin. And lastly, if you are a frequent user and want a more advanced tool check out the Ultimate Keyword Hunter, or consider upgrading your KWFinder account.Overall, any of these LSI tools can be a great addition to your SEO journey if it fits your needs. I hope this blog post was helpful to find the right free LSI tool for you.Good luck with your LSI keyword research! This post was taken from Twinword’s article on: 11 Free LSI Tools To Increase Your Ranking

Do schools have the legal right to take up cell phones (that belong to students) and require payment to give them back?
Ian, how are you? I looked at the school policy dealing with the confiscation of cell phones where my wife works in fort worth. Its a pretty straightforward policy which you and your parent are required to read and sign before school starts. It basically says that once the phone is confiscated your parent will be called and informed and will be required to come to the school, present proof of ownership, then pay a $15 administrative fee for putting them to all the trouble. Because you and your parent have both been provided copies of the student rulebook you will be required to follow it. Here's my wife's school district rules concerning phones:Cell Phones and other Electronic DevicesStudents may possess telecommunication and other electronic devices while on school property and may use them for instructional purpose under the direction of the teacher. Texting during the instructional day will result in the confiscation of the phone and a fine. The phone will be given to the office staff to secure. The principal or assistant principal will be notified of the collection. The student will be required to pay the fine in order to receive the phone. Fines are paid to the school secretary. Students are responsible for their personal electronic devices. School officials are not required to search for personal electronic devices that are missing during school hours, on the school bus, or at any school related event.Confiscation of electronic devicesA campus administrator must notify the parent that the electronic device has been confiscated within two days.To reclaim an electronic device, the parent must:Present written proof of ownership and a photo ID, in person, at the campus, during posted school hours.Complete a district form acknowledging return of the device.Pay a $15 fee per device as allowed by Education Code 37. 082The $15 fee will be accepted by the local campus administrator to cover administrative cost of processing the confiscated device. The fee may be paid either in cash or with a money order. After 30 days, unclaimed devices will be disposed of by the District. The District is not responsible for the loss or theft of electronic devices following confiscation

Can people tell if I sneak and use their WiFi?
Insanely easy if the Wifi owner knows the basics of their router. Simply log into the router, and access the logs. There you'll see EVERY device that's connected to your router. Higher ends routers will even tell you how much data was transferred and the length of estimated time they were connected to the router, and some it will show websites you've visited. It'll show the device's name as well as the MAC address. In short, any router you access, even for a second, it's safe to simply assume your device's information has been recorded. This includes laptops, tablets, desktop compu...

What moments of brutal honesty from a doctor have you actually appreciated in hindsight?
Honesty is complicated. My son was diagnosed with severe ADHD and moderate autism halfway through kindergarten. This was strange as, for the first 5 years of his life, you could not ask for a calmer kid. Not strangely calm either, just really well behaved. He was social, had no tics or weird behaviors. He was at level or above in academics. Describe an easy kid and this was it. He largely followed the rules, potty trained in a week, rarely threw tantrums, great eater, dressed himself, went to bed easily. We signed him up for various different activities as he got older. When he was 4, he started soccer. This kid, later diagnosed as extremely hyperactive, was the one who would sit in the middle of the soccer field and look at the butterflies and entice the other kids to pick flowers with him while the rest ran around in circles chasing the ball.Things started changing in kindergarten. He was getting sent to the principal’s office on almost a weekly basis for behavioral problems. Nothing mean or aggressive, more things that can be described as not having any concept of proper manners, like peeing outside the urinal or wandering off while someone else was talking. He became an escape artist, but a terrible one. He would leave the classroom. Slowly and unsneakily, but you wouldn’t notice because it was just so unexpected. He just didn’t know he was breaking the rules. He would be able to understand something was wrong afterwards, but still couldn’t grasp why you were mad at him.As time progressed, things got worse. We took him to therapy and they explained to us we just have to learn to cope with autism. It’s not a disease, you live with it and adapt to deal with the world. Behavioral problems are solved with increased repetition and more consistent structure. We tried that. We tried everything. Our frustration was palpable. Every time we would visit the psychologist, we would explain how improvement didn’t really seem to be happening. Our psychologist would chalk it up to dealing with a hard problem who sees nothing but frustrated parents all day.My wife started asking if there was anything else we could do and alternative explanations. He wouldn’t refer us to any other medical doctor, just more therapists. He seemed honest and sincere. It convinced me enough as I had zero previous experience with special needs kids.My son became incontinent later in the year. He stopped reading. He was talking only in sentences with a few words. Our psychologist still thought this was another expression of behavioral problems, but now thought he might have been misdiagnosed. He was showing clear signs of severe autism! We then showed him a video of our son, with “severe autism” from when he was 4. Singing and socializing and behaving as a normal, but highly social 4-year-old. The contrast with his current behavior was stark, to say the least. Autism is not something you catch; you are born with it. You can adapt with it or not, but you don’t suddenly get better or worse. The video did it. We were finally referred to a neurologist and as soon as possible. The battery of tests took a month. First was the EEG. I have reason to believe it was slightly abnormal, but our neurologist chose her words very carefully and said there was nothing that was clearly a problem. She was honest, but in retrospect I get the feeling there was more than she was letting on.The MRI was next. Where the EEG was nebulous, the MRI was lit up like a Christmas tree. There was the problem. After a year of listening to therapists tell us how both we and our son weren’t working hard enough to overcome his difficulties, the stark reality was sitting right before us. This was a degenerative disease. None of this was treatable by behavioral intervention. His brain was being physically damaged and getting worse. At this point we had another symptom and it was exclusionary of what we had been treating him for. The question now was what was causing the brain damage and, even more importantly, how do we treat it.You have never really experienced a roller coaster until your only child has been diagnosed with a white-matter disease. All forms of these are horrible, but some caused by infections are completely treatable and, if caught early enough, can be completely reversed. The others are horrible in every way. Our neurologist told us nothing on the MRI showed permanent damage. We had a kid who we believed had severe autism and were just told there’s a chance he could be cured. We were preparing ourselves for a lifetime of taking care of a kid who would never be able to take care of himself and now has a disease that might be able to be treated with medicine. Time to ride the roller coaster up.Unfortunately we’re not at the brutal honesty part yet. White-matter disease is a very generic term for anything that affects the white matter of the brain. Our neurologist knew exactly what she was doing. His MRI was not specific, though, and while there was a chance it could be caused by an infection, that was an unlikely scenario. She didn’t share that just yet, but sent us for a battery of about 50 different tests for everything under the sun that could be possible. Our son’s brain was actively being attacked and, after a year of doing nothing but the wrong thing, time was of the essence. Both my wife and I had some connections in the medical community and found we had some very high-up resources who were immediately motivated by a kid with brain damage looking for a definitive explanation. Over the next two weeks, I signNowed out to everyone who had any type of medical background doing the trust but verify thing with our neurologist. We felt more comfortable with her than any of our past therapists, but we also now had direct experience of the limitations of a medical diagnosis and the risks couldn’t be higher.I managed to get the help of a retired Fortune 500 CEO who got us direct access to specialists at Stanford who were the guys to talk to. Turns out our neurologist was already in contact with them and they had the same conclusion that more tests were needed. On another contact, our old neighbor’s cousin was a head of radiology and he gave us another breakdown of the MRI. His recommendation was that if he saw this, he would never have let his kid leave the hospital after it and would have had them start treating him for an infection. We started to freak out. We were at the top of the roller coaster and going down fast. Was this treatable and were we just wasting time? We made a late-night call to our neurologist. She picked up. We’re still not at the brutally honest part yet but, at this point, she explains to us the MRI wasn’t really presenting as one that would have an infection as a source. It just didn’t fit the other typical presentations either. Our son had a rare disease or a rare presentation of a more common disease. Still she said she put a rush on the more definitive tests but, since they weren’t back yet, she would schedule us for another far-more invasive MRI the next day that would require sedation and be the path to start treatment for an infection.Hours before we left to go to the hospital, our neurologist calls us. Another one of the tests results had come back. It was positive. It was also definitive. Our son had the gene for adrenoleukodystrophy, a degenerative neurological disorder. There is no treatment once symptoms present themselves. It can be treated with a risky bone marrow transplant, which is highly effective if done before the slightest sign of behavioral problems. But if done after symptoms start, at best your body rejects the transplant and you die quickly; at worst, it leaves you in a partially vegetative state blind, deaf, immobile, and with very advanced dementia, but your body is otherwise healthy and can live on virtually indefinitely. Our son is now mostly blind. He doesn’t talk, can’t understand language, has virtually no emotions. All the unique things that made him the little person he was were the first to go. His dementia is substantial. There is no comforting him from an emotional standpoint. He doesn’t seem to recognize anyone on his best of days. This actually makes it easier on him as he didn’t care when he went blind or care about his other numerous issues. He largely doesn’t show emotion unless he has physical pain.He is largely a zombie. He can still move around pretty well and feed himself, but doesn’t care what he eats like a typical kid would. He won’t eat mac and cheese anymore, his favorite food, as it’s too soft, but vegetables, rice cakes, any food whether it has sugar or not, as long as it’s the right consistency, he eats mindlessly. This is where the brutal honesty comes in. This disease is horrible. About as bad as it gets. It takes years and you just decline throughout all of them. It takes your soul, then it takes your abilities. Then you die. There are no experimental treatments. There’s not even hope of experimental treatments on the horizon for his state of progression. The cures are for the thing that causes the brain damage, not the brain damage itself. No one in his state in all of human history has ever had a good outcome. Everyone asks, “Have you gotten a second opinion, have you pursued X?” It’s not like that. There’s nothing. It’s just bleak, but it’s clear. All the puzzle pieces fit together perfectly and you don’t need to be an expert to see the big picture. That bleakness is comforting in that way. You stop worrying about whether you are doing the right thing. You are just doing. You don’t have to choose palliative care. It’s chosen for you. Your options are persistive vegetative state kept alive by machines — or death. It is definitive and, unlike so many other diseases, there aren’t Hail Mary options with extremely unlikely cures that are extremely painful and then you can die anyway. Our neurologist was anything but honest until she had to be. Once the diagnosis was confirmed, though, there was no sugar coating. I understand why she did what she did when she did it and hold her in very high regard. Especially relative to our earlier experts. At the end we did get honesty and it was brutal. There is one path we have now and while it’s about the worst one you could ever imagine, at least it’s known. Not knowing made life even worse. We put our son through hell in his last lucent year thinking he had autism. We can’t make him better now, but we can make him feel better and by knowing what’s in store, when it’s time, we can make sure he dies quickly rather than artificially prolonging his life on false hope. While there are no words to describe how it feels to know your only child is destined to die a horrible death with little quality of life left, it’s far less stressful than knowing that’s a distinct possibility, but holding out hope and constantly searching for a diagnosis with no end in sight. I feel guilty about it, but I appreciate the brutal honesty of a definitive death. This is my son. He may look perfectly normal in this photo but when this was taken, he was anything but. He had already lost all ability to understand language among other things. This was the last time I saw him really laugh. It’s a priceless memory and one that I have only because we knew his path and weren’t pursuing therapies that were useless to him.EditAdrenoleukodystrophy (ald) can be tested for at birth with a simple and relatively cheap blood test. It is now required in only a handful of states, but not others. It is an x-linked genetic disorder where girls are carriers and boys have a 50% chance of getting it from their mothers. 1 in 18,000 are affected. It is on the list of recommended tests to get at birth by the federal government, but still not done routinely in many states. If you are pregnant ask your doctor if an ALD test will be performed as part of the screening at birth. Pay for it if your insurance won’t cover it. It’s around $100. We had no family history of the disease. We followed every recommendation of our doctors before he had any symptoms. We had no reason to suspect anything and a perfectly healthy 5 year old until we didn’t. Getting the test at birth would’ve made the cure viable.

Since iOS and OSX had the most vulnerabilities of the year, why do people say that its more secure?
I don't use iOS but there's a thing.Apple certifies the apps that can be sold on App Store, while on Android you can find all sort of crap. Not surprisingly, most malware around is targeting Android devices right now, because that's where the money is.People can pay bills with a phone (if they're so out of their minds to do that), perform banking transactions (you can scan a check, send it to your bank and pay with it...).Why's that? Android devices aren't as hardened as computers do.As to macOS, most vulnerabilities are proofs of concept. There's no real viruses for Mac around, because infections can't work the same way. It's mostly adware/spyware/Trojans/worms, which have been using vulnerabilities hidden mostly in Java and Flash. You don't enable Java (I haven't done it in years) and that stuff can't be executed. Then UNIX/Linux systems are HIERARCHICAL.If you don't have permissions to a file, you can pretty much shoot yourself: you're not gonna access it.You don't click Continue such as in Windows, you need to enter an administrative password (and also a username, if you're on a limited account). What's more, Apple has introduced System Integrity Protection so no one, even having root privileges, can now tamper with macOS system files anymore. Thanks for the A2A, but I'm not very interested in these philosophical dissertations.Use what you think can be most suitable for you.As to myself, I stick with UNIX/Linux and I'm very happy this way.

What are some examples of presentation softwares other than PowerPoint?
It varies by the focus and style of the presentation, but here are the ones I use on a regular basis:Prezi.com…great for quickly mapping your presentation using their predesigned templates and preprogrammed movement. Love the ability to edit the path and add additional info where I want it, and to create presentations that run continuously (I often use them while people are arriving to set the stage for the presentation).HaikuDeck.com…easy to use with a focus on images with minimal words on the screen…need to either be able to present online or export to PowerPoint or a PDF. Love the preformatted layouts for words on the screen…makes it very easy to quickly build a presentation.Keynote…essentially the MAC version of Powerpoint that works great for those who are more comfortable in the MAC world.
