hi everyone thank you for joining our webinar today part 1 of mailing 101 a crash course on how to bulk mail I'm a beetle area for Melissa and joining me today is our mailing expert Tony Deacon Tony will give you expert tips on everything you need to know to do a bulk mailing even if you've never done one before this webinar is part of our ongoing series of mailing training courses before we get started I want to encourage everyone to submit questions today you can type those in at any time during the presentation well answer all your questions at the end this webinar is being recorded so if you missed anything or want to forward to someone you'll be able to do so so we have a lot to cover so I'll get this presentation started I'll passing over the mic to Tony Tony thanks Abby hello thanks everyone for attending today we're gonna start this series going over some of the basics about mailing just to explain some of the terminology and then just give the gist of it though we'll go into greater detail and in future once again my name is Tony Deakin so bulk mail as weak as it's called is when you're doing large quantities of mail and mailing all at once so usually buy a full tray of postal tray if they will be considered bulk mail and the USPS offers discounts for when you're doing large volumes of mail and sort it for them organize it for them doing part of their job so they offer discounted pricing all mail can be right for you if you're only doing a few hundred pieces at a time a few times a year or if you're doing a one-time really large mailing it could save you enough and postage to justify doing some of the work yourself many mailers do pay single price single piece price like full price first-class fifty cents a letter even though they could be paying far less most just don't understand that it's actually quite easy to do it yourself what will I need to get started basically you will have to get a permit from the USPS and that in there that has an initial fee though if you do fully automated mailings they waive the annual renewal fee we did this recently as a test and it took maybe 5-10 minutes went to the post office and ten minutes later we were done ahead of put a permit so doing a mailing you'll have to have a permit you'll have to pay the postage you'll have to decide what type of piece you're gonna mail and what can be the cheapest for you or the most effective for your business it's also necessary to make sure that all of your addresses your mailing to are accurate and correct and standardized to the USPS requirements and to ensure the greatest discount you would also...
