[Music] hi everyone i'm dr zia i'm a clinical psychologist specializing in transgender care welcome to my channel someone recently asked me is it possible to have to justify your transcendence for a period of time where end result is that you end up developing complex and that complex is causing you a very deep sense of insecurity and the answer is absolutely yes not only is it possible it is sadly incredibly probable uh to develop a complex in relationship to your gender what happens is when we start transitioning we come out right and when you come out to other people there's going to be people in your life who are not going to believe you there's going to be people in your life and there are already now people in your life that are not only not believe you but are constantly questioning you uh in a way kind of like policing your sense of identity asking you are you sure how can you know for sure maybe you're being highly influenced maybe you're being brainwashed maybe uh you're very confused maybe you need to explore your sexuality uh maybe this may be that maybe you know so many maybes there's gonna be people who are gonna be pointing out things from your past especially people close to you they're gonna be pointing out well you can be trans because look in the past you've done abcdf and oh you can't be trans because you never brought it up when you were little and you can't be trans uh because uh look at the way you presented for the longest period of time you can never be trans because i never saw any clues or any signs of you being transgender they're going to bring up all of these things as if they are somehow our confirmative clues to how you feel right now what they're not realizing is that gender uh tends to be multifaceted and that people cope and people do especially you guys do an excellent job of pretending uh that you are comfortable with your biologic sex within your reality you are incredibly miserable you are in incredible internal pain and you are in incredible internal turmoil uh but you do a great job all of you are you know if i had to um give out a word i'd give it to all of you because all of you have done a great job and i understand for all of you this is nothing to be happy about because this great job you've done wears off and this great job you've done is later on can be really hard to um to remove yourself from so as a result of justifying and this justification happens for all of you that's where again you have to prove yourself or you have to defend yourself if you will to people you have to explain to people no i'm really trans and the reason why...
