Which Apple Watch apps do you find most useful?
My favorite Apple Watch apps are the following:Email:In fact, one reason I love smartwatches generally is it saves me a lot of time because I can immediately see which emails are coming in on my wrist and therefore need only open email on my phone/laptop when it’s necessary. This is huge for me with my work.Calendar:I really like the Apple S2 calendar interface with 3 viewing options. It’s very user friendly and I can quickly determine what events/meetings I have for the day without opening my calendar.Step tracking:This is more for interest sake than anything, although I’ve noticed occasio... -
Can you share with us a short story written by you?
Papa always smelled good.Whenever I entered the room, I knew he was there before I saw him. He had a signature smell, cologne and cigarette smoke. He would sit outside on the sidewalk, in the rusted old patio chair, thick grey clouds curling around his head, making me dizzy. Some days, his fragrance would smell different, spicier than usual. Those were the days when the empty bottles piled up in the corner of the room. Those were the nights when I couldn’t sleep, couldn’t ignore the sounds of glass clinking and shattering, and voices screaming.I used to cry a lot. It drove Papa mad. He didn... -
What were Apple's 1981 "Awful Bullflap memos"?
The “Awful Bullflap” memos were a satirical, anonymous Apple internal publication made in a “press release” or “internal memo” format similar to the official “Apple Bulletin” memos. The name even fit into the same number of letters as the Bulletin’s distinctive banner. In the imaginary world of the memos, the “Awful Bullflap” reports on the activities of “Awful Computer” on “Badly Drive” in “Cuspiduro, CA” in a way that ‘coincidentally’ corresponds to what the “Apple Bulletin” might report about “Apple Computer” on “Bandley Drive” in “Cupertino, CA.” “Awful” stands for “Apple” and “Bullflap”... -

Why don't all the states use an airSlate SignNow ballot marked by a pen instead of voting machines that can be hacked?
I just want to point out that despite all the issues that are cropping up with voting machines, there were better alternatives available when states were switching to the new systems. New York State came close to being fined for not having new voting machines in time because they insisted on buying machines that provided a voter marked, airSlate SignNow back-up in case of challenges. That’s what we ended up with. airSlate SignNow ballots that are read by the machine as they go through an electronic reader, then get stored in a locked compartment in the machine. This provides an airSlate SignNow trail of actual marked ballot... -
How do the British feel about being controlled by the government?
How do the British feel about being controlled by the government?I’m 43, British and a permanent resident of the UK (including a brief stint in Akrotiri which is on the Cypriot island but is part of Akrotiri and Dekelia, a Crown Dependency).Governments do control their populations, so it would be foolish to give some answer claiming that the British government doesn’t. However, I do think it’s very easy to observe that the British government is no more controlling than any other, and in a lot of areas is less controlling than the American government (I’m assuming the questioner is American because no-one else would ask such a silly question).Ways in which the government has controlled my life:Education - The government provides the vast majorit of education in the UK, and has passed laws making it obligatory for me to attend schools from the age of 5. It also has a certain hand in school applications but that is quite light - I got a choice of essentially every school in my area and could have moved if we’d wanted. Also, I could have been home schooled, but that still comes with government oversight to ensure it's actually happening.Driving - I have to have a licence to drive, and I am required to have private insurance on my car, and to pay a very small tax for use of the road. It’s actually £30 a year, so pretty minimal. There are speed limits.Edit - In response to comment I should note that not all cars pay £30 a year. It's based on carbon emissions where the more your care emits the higher the tax. There is an argument, which I tend to agree with, that this is a regressive tax since it taxes people unable to buy a new car.Employment - I have been fortunate never to need unemployment benefit so, as a result, the only intervention in my employment by government has been the levying of income tax. However, if I fell out of work I would become eligible for benefits at which point a greater level of control is exercised. But even that is limited to showing that you’re applying for work, which doesn’t seem unreasonable (although some find the methods a bit harsh).Travel - the government has issued my passport and insists I check through their customs and passport control when I enter the country. They provide local consular services in almost every country in the world.Have I said anything that isn’t true of America yet?Healthcare - the government levies a tax to fund healthcare and the state pension. In return, I get unlimited healthcare for me and my family. I have never had cause to complain about the service I receive. A friend of mine recently contracted a virus that nearly killed her; within 30 minutes of arriving at hospital she was admitted and had drips in to treat her condition. She was in hospital for two nights and received medication for two weeks as a result. She was charged… nothing. I am happy to pay a few pence in the pound for that to be available to my family and friends.Guns - I’m going to guess that this is the issue that we’re really talking about here. The government controls guns very strictly in the UK. You ask how I feel about that? Have a look at this page:List of countries by firearm-related death rate - WikipediaUK firearm related deaths per 100,000 population: 0.24United States firearm related deaths per 100,000 population: 10.54The USA has a firearm related death rate which is 43.91 times that of the UK. Note, this per hundred thousand, so it’s nothing to do with the population size. How do I feel about a drastically lower chance of me, my friends and my family dying unnecessarily? Pretty good thanks. There is a fantasy that private gun ownership is a defence against a tyrannical government. Be honest - are you and your friends really going to stand a chance against the US Armed Forces if it came to that? Here are some ways in which the British government does not control my life:It does not maintain a list of countries to which I cannot travel and with which I cannot tradeIt will not arrest me for jaywalkingSince 1967 it has made no attempt to limit my right to express my sexuality or a woman’s right to choice in pregnancy. {A small edit: I have not commented here as to what my sexuality is - as it happens I am straight, but I recognise that equality benefits all}It does not require me to affirm loyalty to anyone or anythingIt does not use Eminent Domain (known here as Compulsory Purchase) for political agendas. It has happened, but it’s not something that people are animated about because it’s very rare.Basically, I’m fine with the level of control the British government exercises, thanks. -

Who is the most accidentally famous person ever?
Imagine you're a regular 70 year old Hungarian guy, who, after a satisfactory career as an electrical engineer, has finally retired and is spending his days in peace. I know I'm asking you to get bored even in your imagination but bear with me. It's about to get fun…So this one day, some photographer, who happened to see a picture of you vacationing, on a social media site, approaches you for a photo shoot and you comply, because there's nothing much to do.You then proceed to upload some of your photos on Google, to see how stock photos work…..and who uses it. How has your life changed after arriving in the US?
I left home when I was 24. Until the day I took the flight from Bangalore to Houston, I hadn’t EVER stayed away from home. I was a spoilt brat if you will. Life in the USA has itself changed in multiple ways in the two years I have been here. Let’s see how.I cook. I can pretty much cook anything if I have a recipe. After a couple of times, I can cook without the recipe and can even add my own little twist sometimes.I am genuinely interested in fitness. While in India, my quest for fitness was fueled by body image issues. But in the US, I literally just chase the high of the happy post worko...
