[Music] how do we quote stuff guess what catapult I just emailed Isaac this morning I'm like how would you feel if I built your quote on my blog to show everybody how we price stuff out he was like dude do it approved let's get it Thank You catapult for letting me do this I am the co-founder of a video production company a while back I made a video called how to make money using YouTube skills I didn't actually make any money in that video which is funny ass but I liked it so much but this is actually how we do make money and how I've made money for the last five years I want to show you how we do it all of our pricing info is on our website so this isn't really any new information I just want to like get into the theory of how we've got a quote and why we do it this way and then and then see if we can get this job all right so how do we build quotes let me show you this is some crucial information whether you're in video whether you're starting up any sort of business you need to figure out how do I give somebody something to give them an estimate of the cost to say this is how much I'm gonna charge still get the job and then get to work on it but also make money in the process something that it's taken me a long time to figure out I still don't even know if I totally know but this is where I'm at I want to show you how I do it let's get this thing I'm using something called 17 hats I don't love it I don't hate it it just says what it is I go here to add standard quote item so the first thing that we used to forget to charge for is pre-production it's just all the planning that goes into videos this video for catapult is going to be two videos first one's going to be a 30-second overview video based off of kind of one of their mottos the second one's gonna be a little bit more of an explainer but hopefully not super complex so we can try to keep it within their budget I think we actually have shot list build crucial crucial pre-production all right 795 that makes sense yes then in order to keep this in their budget I need two people to be able to shoot this in one day so add item production and full-day two-person crew save we're at $2,600 ideally Isaac wants me to keep this around $4,000 so we're getting up there because now we have the edits so the 30-second edit is fairly more cut-and-dry I think the shot list for that's gonna be super rad I think their slogan is math measure make I think is what it is which is cool so just gonna be super quick like measuring a poll like sugar measure map make maybe measuring a poll whatever exporting the deliverable it's gonna be radical but if I type it edit 30 is 0 to 30 seconds 11 95 yeah 30 second or less edit taxable so that's for that one and then this one's the one that's so this is a non complex three-minute edit which is going to be easier hopefully to create then like a complex three minute so a complex 3 minute edit is like there's multiple 60-minute interviews that you're trying to splice down into three minutes like it just takes a lot of work this is gonna be very well prepared scripted probably a voiceover which I think I might have forgotten to add into this so maybe I'll add a voiceover into this so I'm hoping that we're not gonna lose money on this piece but if we lose money on something it's gonna be this if we can't nail this on the first or second try when we're sending revisions to the client all right you've gotten bored hang in there with me okay let me show you it's drizzling a little bit but since this backpack this backpack is waterproof or resistant the one wheels like water-resistant my camera's water-resistant I was like I should do this today's vlog is gonna be a little bit different more of a tutorial as you know by the two title fit to title this is a tutorial blog to titled appropriately 2.53 up to three minute edit right and normally that's 2675 but to keep it in their budget I'm gonna go 1875 which basically just means what is that $800 that I just removed from it which for us if you base things off of $150 per hour is what 150 150 150 150 for it's like five hours when you do this you just have to make sure you really plan out that project so you don't need to go back and forth in editing that's what really ends up taking time and that's where you lose money so we're gonna just plan it well that's what we got to do up to three minute edit and I'm just gonna put a description thereof to further explain the process but still fairly high level so we're up at five thousand eight hundred and ninety three dollars which is over their budget do I have everything that I wanted to put in their pre-production shoot Oh music licenses so two videos two standard licenses one hundred bucks and that includes everything from actually having to pay to license music but also just picking music having to go back and forth of music charge for stuff like that you got a charge for stuff like that right right under six thousand dollars which is fairly over budget but we're gonna have to send it because basically in my mind this is as low as we can go without losing money and your clients need you to be making money your clients need you to be profitable worst thing that would happen is they use you they love you they call you for the next project in four months and you're not doing it anymore because it's not sustainable you need to make money price yourself in order to make money we base it off of $150 per hour per person whatever makes sense for you start there but realize it's probably too low you most likely need to be charging more everything costs more money than you think it's gonna cost taxes are more than you think they're going to be charged what you're worth and then maybe add a couple percents you know what I'm saying it's just we charged way less than we should have charged for the whole first three years of doing business and we're only just now starting to realize what we need to be profitable but we're also trying to creep back up from from making that mistake for those three years and it's making it really hard for us so from the get-go charge about your worth plus some okay get it done sell it let's do this thing I hope that this was helpful let me know if it was man it's starting to look like bull with all these leaves down wha and by fall I mean autumn please just remind me to never say fall ever again collabs want to know one of my favorite pieces of the brevity bag how does this buckle work this buckles magic like it it closes like this that's close but then you can't open it up and let's just slide it sideways okay it's not magic it's just awesome brevity if that buckle gets you as ant as it gets me feel free to purchase this bag with my affiliate link down below founder I found amber she's right down there hi sweetie [Music]
