Notarize signed payment

hey this is Kendra signing agent basics and in this video we're gonna talk about how you get paid as a signing agent [Music] being a signing agent has a lot of great benefits including job security the ability to work from home and have a flexible schedule the ability to take time off for yourself or your family whenever you want without having to ask a boss for permission and a better work-life balance just to name a few and while all of these reasons are great the main reason why just about all of us work is to make money in fact it is possible to make six figures 100 thousand dollars or more per year as a signing agent I've got a video where I tell you all about it and if you want to check out that video just click on the link right up here but many new signing agents still question exactly how do you get paid as a signing agent well in this video I'm going to tell you what to expect and what you need to do to make sure you get paid a fair amount and get paid in a timely manner now as I stated before being a signing agent is essentially running your own business not a job as a signing agent you are an independent contractor not an employee so many of the processes and protections that you are used to having as an employee simply do not exist for you as an independent contractor there is really no such thing as a minimum wage for an independent contractor contracting companies are not required the same way regular employers are to pay you a fair or minimum amount for any work that you do for them there are also a very little protections stating within what time frame a contracting company has to pay you as an independent contractor you must protect yourself and your business by asking questions being proactive counter offering and even refusing requests if the terms and the amount that is being paid to you is not what you consider but before I go any further new signing agents is getting paid one of the things that you have questions about if so do me a favor and give this video a thumbs up right now also veterans signing agents do you have any tips or tricks about how to get paid a fair amount and how to keep track of payments that are owed to you if so go down into the comment section right now and let me know now the first thing you will need to know when it comes to payment is how much the contracting company is agreeing to pay you for an assignment this amount is usually but not always listed in the initial requests that you will receive you will definitely want to make sure that that amount is high enough to cover your costs and make you a profit check out my how to determine costs and profits video if you need a refresher about that and I've got a link to that video for you right up here if your mount that is initially quoted to you by a contracting company is lower than the amount that you require then you can always reject their initial request and give a counteroffer amount instead however just like you are not required to accept their initial offer the contracting company is not required to accept your counteroffer but whether you agree to the contracting company's initial offer or you and the contracting company agreed to a counteroffer to mount get the amount that you are to be paid on the assignment in writing if you don't get that information in writing at the end of the day you may or may not get paid what you expect now if you get the documents or a full assignment information from a contracting company and there is substantially more work involved than you were initially told then don't be afraid to counteroffer for an increased fee some examples of times that you might choose to counteroffer is if you get the loan package and it has an exceptionally large page count or if the signing location is much further away than you are originally told or if you see anything else that you believe will cause you to have to put in substantially more time or effort to complete the assignment now you are not required to counteroffer however if you do decide that you require higher payment to complete the assignment once you have complete information about the assignments contact the contracting company immediately to discuss this tell them the additional payment amount that you require and explain to them why the contracting company is not required to accept your counteroffer so they may decide to remove you from the order and reassign it to another signing agent who will accept the lower amount however if the contracting company does accept your counteroffer make sure that you get that acceptance again in writing if it isn't in writing getting an increase after the signing is done may be difficult if not impossible another thing you'll need to know when you accept an assignment is the contracting companies payment terms some companies pay within 30 calendar days some companies pay within 30 business days some companies pay on a particular day of the month on the month or two following the completed assignment some companies pay within two 45 60 90 days or more also make sure that you are aware of how the contracting company will pay you some companies pay with a mailed check some companies pay with an e check that is emailed to you that you print out and submit to your bank some companies pay by direct deposit and some companies pay via another payment method such as PayPal some companies require that you submit an invoice to receive payment and some require that you fill out a completion report online each contracting company has its own payment terms and payment request processes never assume that you will get paid within a particular time frame or in a particular way always make sure that you clearly understand and accept the contracting companies payment terms before you accept an assignment and be sure to promptly submit any documentation that the contracting company requires to get you paid also you will need a system to keep track of your work completed and your payments received this could be something as simple as an Excel worksheet where you list your completed assignments payments that are due to you and payments that you have actually received or you could use accounting software such as QuickBooks or you can use an app or software that is specialized for notaries such as notary gadget or notary assist there is no right or wrong way to keep track of this information it is purely personal preference I personally use a combination of an old-school Excel worksheet and QuickBooks to keep track of my payments due and receipt take some time to check out all of these options to find out which will work best for you and your budget I got links to QuickBooks notary gadget and notary assist down in the description box last while it is not the norm non-payment by a contracting company for services that you have already provided does sometimes happen however there are things that you can do to avoid companies that do not pay and there are things that you can do if you get stiffed by a contracting company for services that you already provided I'm gonna go over that more in future videos so make sure that you subscribe and hit the notification bell so that you don't miss it so signing agents was this video helpful if so go ahead and hit that thumbs up button right now also if you find my videos helpful and you want to know how I can help to train you to be a more productive and profitable signing agent go down into the description box for more information about my signing agent training program and if you're not already following me on Instagram LinkedIn and Facebook make sure that you do that today links to all of my socials are down in the description box and no matter what make sure that you hit that like button hit the subscribe button and then hit the notification bell so that you don't miss any of my upcoming videos this is Kendra with signing agent Basix hoping that you have a productive and all day [Music]
