hey guys welcome back to the Ellie Channel today we're gonna talk about my favorite store pet smart that's Ellie that you guys just saw originally she was the one gonna be doing this video but she kept talking about the pet smart credit card so I just had to cut her off and take over but all joking aside guys I understand how scary and frustrating credit cards can be in fact when I first got my first credit card back in 2010 almost 10 years ago I didn't use that card for about three or four years because I was just really scared I was scared I was gonna go to credit card debt just by swiping my card I know it's irrational and I didn't know that much about it so the more I learned the more I understood about credit cards I understood that you can't go into credit card debt if you're buying things that you normally would buy with cash so with that in mind I came up with this four card system I started this back in 2015 but now it's completely finished so I thought I'd share it with you guys I think you guys will find huge value with this system covers four areas there I think almost everybody spends on one card is for grocery stores the second one is for gas station the third one is for restaurant and dining and the last one is for everything else this system is super easy to use and only one of the cards has an annual fee so it's not expensive to run at all but keep in mind that I did come up with the system based on my spending and where I shop so if a couple cars don't make any sense to you or you don't want to keep them you can always just switch them out for a different credit card if you guys don't have a different credit card that you want to replace it with just ask me in the comments below and I'll be more than happy to recommend a card for you based on your spending habits so the first card is the gas station card it's only right I start with this card this is the car that started it all this was the first car that I've got to build this for card system and that's to Chase Freedom Card this card gives you five percent cashback on categories that rotate every three months or so currently the categories gas station so why would I consider a rotating category card as my gas station card well the reason it's actually pretty simple since I've had this card for five years I've noticed that Chase includes gas stations as a category at least once or twice in a year so you're covered three to six months out of the year and then the rest of the time they're gonna have things like groceries or Walmart and what I typically do is I just go to the grocery store and I buy a gas gift card so that way I'm still getting five percent cash back at gas stations by using that gift card keep in mind that gift cards are free to buy at grocery stores the only time you have to pay for a gift card is if it's something like a Visa gift card so that's why I consider this my cash back for gas and this five percent is actually gonna be worth seven and a half percent and I'll talk about this more later when we get to the third card which is gonna be the one that we're gonna use to increase the cashback of most of these cards that we have in our line up my second card on this four car lineup is my grocery card we do almost all of our grocery shopping at Whole Foods so for that reason I pick up Amazon Prime card which gives me five percent cashback at Whole Foods it also gives me five percent cashback on Amazon we do a lot of shopping on Amazon things that we need for the house leave them buy dog food on there we buy our coffee there's a lot of things we buy so this card makes a lot of sense for me I think the average American spends about $100 a week on groceries so if you multiply that by four that's four hundred dollars a month on groceries and if you're getting five percent cashback that's about twenty dollars a month getting cash back on things that you already gonna buy groceries so that's a really good way to do that but if you're somebody that doesn't shop at Whole Foods or Amazon just let me know in the comments as I mentioned earlier more than happy to recommend a different credit card for you that you could use at grocery stores as well number three out of this four car system is the chase freedom unlimited this is a car that gives you one and a half percent cashback every time you swipe this car so there's no categories for this card at all and it's one and a half percent it's actually gonna be worth 1.75 when you combine it with card number four with that being said card number four is a car that you guys have seen multiple times on this channel before and that's the Chase Sapphire Reserve this is a car that rounds out everything really nicely and I think you've heard me talk about this before this is what's considered the chase trifecta the chase trifecta includes the chase freedom chase freedom unlimited and the Chase Sapphire Preferred or reserve so the way that works is you can take all your points that you aren't and your freedom on your freedom unlimited and send them to your Chase Sapphire reserve and when you redeem it to the reserve it's worth 50% more that's why I mentioned earlier that that 5% is actually going to be worth seven 1/2 percent also that one-and-a-half percent is going to be worth 1.75 percent when you use it through the chase reserve and that's what I typically do all the time I haven't had to pay for a flight out of pocket in a really long time because I all I do is I use all these cards together and then I transfer all my points to my reserve and I can book flights hotels and everything for a really good price and I'm using points to do all this so I'm using points from shopping on everyday things like gas groceries things that I would normally use cash for and that way I'm getting free flights and free hotels on a sense and that's how you do it guys that's the for card system but there's a bonus card for those of you that stayed this link and that's gonna be the fifth card this card I don't have just yet I do plan on getting it sometime this year once my credit score normalizes a little bit then I'm gonna take it out and that card is the chase ink business cash card this card gives you 5% cash back on office supply stores and internet phone and cable services so I'm gonna be using this to round out my four car system so it turns into a five
