[Music] hello boys and girls so good you're back for another sunday school sunday's a wonderful day a day of rest a day when we don't have to think about school i don't have to think about work but most importantly we can remember something amazing what can we remember jesus is alive god sent his son he came into the world the lord jesus he died on a cross but on the third day what happened he rose again isn't that wonderful he rose again on the first lord's day and every lord's day sins we can remember that jesus is alive and jesus is saving sinners and jesus is still at work today so as we begin sunday school what do we do pray so i'll pray i'll thank god for the lord jesus christ we'll be thankful for all the wonderful things he did and he's still doing and will ask god's blessing upon sunday school do you remember the drill one two three heavenly father we come to you a kind a good and a loving god we thank you that you are so loving you sent your son into this world to die for sinners thank you that he came he lived a perfect life he went willingly to the cross and he died for sins not his arm and he was put in a grave though a terrible thing that the son of god died for died but lord we thank you that on the third day he rose again it was said he is not here for he is risen thank you lord heavenly father there he is risen he is alive forevermore and he's still at work still saving sin and still giving eternal life still speaking and lord we pray as we have sunday school today that we might hear the voice of the lord jesus christ and we all might listen and obey help us in these things bless us be with us and may all be done to your glory we pray in the name of the lord jesus christ amen one two three four five so we're going to hear about the lord jesus christ today but what do we need for sunday school our bibles so make sure you've got your bible how's it going with the memory challenge have you learned those verses already psalm 121 verse 1 and 2. let's give them a try together see if you can do them without looking at your bible are you ready i will lift up my eyes to the hills from where comes my help my help comes from the lord who made heaven and earth well done if you got it right if you're not sure check it up in your bible you'll need your bible anyway for the next two verses that we're going to have a look at this week verses three and four he will not allow your foot to be moved he who keeps you will not slumber behold he who keeps israel shall neither slumber nor sleep who is this he it's the lord isn't it the lord that we were thinking about last week in the first two verses the lord who helps us when it says he will not allow your foot to be moved it means that he will always help us if we belong to him even our foot won't slip we won't slip away from the lord if he is holding us we will be able to trust him all the way through our lives and into eternity isn't that a wonderful thing and then it tells us that we that he who keeps us he who keeps you will not slumber what does slumber mean slumber is when you're ah falling asleep and you can't help it do you think god is like that does god fall asleep is he so busy that he gets tired and sleepy and falls asleep like we do oh no no no god will never slumber god will never sleep he will always look after us and he will never let us down isn't that a wonderful thing let's have a look at verse 4 behold he who keeps israel shall neither slumber nor sleep see it goes even further that behold means listen again i'm really meaning this behold he who keeps israel israel means all of god's people not just you and me but all of god's people and he can look after the whole lot of them the whole lot of us without being tired without slumbering and without sleeping this is our god who will never let us down let's try those verses we'll read them again he will not allow your foot to be moved he who keeps you will not slumber behold he who keeps israel shall neither slumber nor sleep i won't say those again with you now see if you can learn them by next week and we'll go over them again then i'll see you then jesus loves me this thing [Music] boys and girls all around the world who can't or who haven't heard about jesus while ct heard this and he thought what are we doing about it i've got the truth i know jesus i must take him to africa now his wife was sick his daughters were at home needed looking after his mom said don't go in fact ct himself was ill but he didn't listen to their voices because he heard the voice of jesus in the bible saying go into all the world so he knew he must go someone said to him it's going to be difficult why are you going ct replied if jesus christ began and died for me then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for him he was saying if jesus died for me which he did then there's nothing i can't do for him he gave it all i must give my all so he went now you know he's already been to china and back to england and then to india and back to england and now he's going to africa to a place called the congo and he arrived he left his family in england what do you think he did when he got there he started to tell them about jesus of course he did he set up mission stations so that people could begin gospel works and he went round telling them that jesus christ had died jesus christ came into the world two die and he died and he rose again for sinful people and guess what just like in china and just like in india the lord was working people were being saved at the first baptism in africa by ct 12 people were baptized 12 people stood up and said before their family and friends i'm a christian amazing the lord was working but then ct heard some news his wife was sick in england so he rushed back to check how she was and to be with the family she recovered thankfully now ct what did he do he could have stayed at home and said i'm going to look after you now but he knew in his heart he must go the work wasn't finished so he left his family again and went to africa and he didn't see his wife again for 11 years he carried on the gospel work he carried on telling others about the lord jesus christ in africa many became christians and in 1927 his wife came to visit and he was only a brief visit because she left and when she was in spain two years later she died his wife priscilla went to be with her lord you see when a christian dies he goes there he or she goes to heaven priscilla was in heaven ct was still in africa he must have been sad but he carried on he told many and in this time he now translated the bible into the local language people had the new testament and they could read about jesus but ct had heart problems he had breathing problems he had a disease called malaria was getting harder and harder and harder and at the age of 70 it's a long life ct died ct left this world and it wasn't the end because he too went to heaven he saw jesus he saw his savior it said that his last word was hallelujah what does that mean praise the lord praise the lord as he was dying he said praise the lord he was going home that's the life of c t stud but we haven't mentioned the clock you see ct probably the most famous thing he ever wrote were these words only one life it will soon be passed only what's done for christ will last you see ct knew he had one life and the clock would stop and he had to live it for jesus cricket doesn't last money all his fame only what's done for christ will last boys and girls is jesus your savior are you living for him you might think what can i do for jesus you know boys and girls can do something for him too something small something big do you remember the little lad who came to jesus and gave all the bread only what's done for christ will last seet he was a great man but he had a great savior and he did it all for him only one life it will soon be passed only what's done for christ will last i week we're reading from the book of luke and luke is in the new testament of the bible that's the second part of the bible it begins with matthew then mark and luke so if you can find luke in your bibles and then if you can go to chapter 19. and we're going to read from the first verse down to verse 10. so if you're ready we'll begin then jesus entered and passed through jericho now behold there was a man named zacchaeus who was a chief tax collector and he was rich and he sought to see who jesus was but could not because of the crowd for he was of short stature so he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him for he was going to pass that way and when jesus came to the place he looked up and saw him and said to him zacchaeus make haste come down for today i must stay at your house. so he made haste and he came down and he received him joyfully but when they saw it they all complained saying he has gone to a get to be a guest with a man who is a sinner then zacchaeus stood and said to the lord look lord i give half of my goods to the poor and if i have taken anything from anyone by false accusation i restore fourfold and jesus said to him today salvation has come to this house because because he also is a son of abraham for the son of man has come to seek and to save that which was lost thank you for listening children jesus was going to jerusalem where he will be accused falsely and crucified passing through jericho jesus of nazareth was passing by knowing the heart of man he knew those who were in need of him in jericho what is the greatest need of every man the greatest need of every man is to have our sins forgiven by god in jesus work on the cross luke chapter 19 verse 2 and there was a man called by the name of zacchaeus he was a he was a chief task collector and he was rich zakiya's names means pure and innocent he wasn't pure and he wasn't innocent he was hated by the tube because he was working for the enemies the task collector and he was a crook and a fifth zakiyas were given an amount he's supposed to give to the romans but what he will do he will charge his old people more in that way he was making more money and he was becoming rich and people from his community that you they hated him he was considered as a worse sinner zacchaeus had learned you can be rich and not be happy you can be wealthy and not be loved you can be successful and not be satisfied zacchaeus had a bad reputation luke chapter 19 verse 3 psyches was trying to see who jesus was and was unable because because of the crowd for he was small in stature zacchaeus had a problem though he wanted to see jesus he was a short man he tried to stand up on his tiptoe imagine him imagine zakiyah trying to stand up on his tiptoe but that doesn't help he start pushing excuse me i got to get through when people turn and see it's zacchaeus they act like they did not like his present probably they spit right in his face or on the floor do you think they were going to laser key as the task collector through he was a rich man who was the most hated in town why did zacchaeus wanted to see jesus so badly he wanted to see who jesus was he wanted to figure out what it was that made jesus different from anyone anybody else all his wealth did not make him happy he did not have a true joy that only god can give and he knew only jesus could help him so this made him so desperate that he will do anything to meet with jesus he knew jesus was different than anyone so he wanted to see him it is very important to desire to see jesus it is a very important moment in anyone's life when he begins to want to see jesus it is the starting of your new life to look for god for mercy to long to become a christian luke chapter 19 verse 4 so he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see him for he was going to pass that way imagine a little boy this is a big man a grown-up and a rich man imagine a little boy running to watch for example a sunday parade so you can picture zacchaeus he was running a shoot man running fast to see jesus in verse 5 and when jesus came to the place he looked up and said to him zacchaeus hurry and calm down for today i must stay at your house indeed zacchaeus was acting like a little child he was a perfect example of jesus word that whoever does not receive the kingdom of god like a child will not enter it at all he climb into the tree one can just see the crowd calling him and making fun of him laughing at him maybe the probably say get down little man but he enjoyed the mocking of the people for what he says is the most important as verse 5 tells us though jesus was surrounded by many people jesus took time for individual for those who are seeking him in truth and sincerity which i will say in faith faith what pleases god without faith it is impossible children it is impossible for anyone to please god jesus knows those that belongs to him he knows his sheep as he tells us my sheep hears my voice and zacchaeus wanted to know more about the lord jesus and he wanted also to be known by him he looked up and said to him jesus looked up and said to zacchaeus how did jesus know who zakia was and he said zacchaeus hurry and calm down for today hamas stay at your house can you imagine the joy in zakir's heart he knows my name and he's telling me to calm down and he's going to come to my house sakias was full of joy it was like i can't i can't believe that he just called me you know what the bible says behold i stand at the door and knock anyone who hears my voice and opens i will come in and dine with him you know the same thing god knows your name he knows my name and he cares for you and he cares for everyone and he's knocking at the door of your heart asking you to repent of your sin and to accept him as his lord and savior he wants to change your life he's inviting you because you want to change your life you want to be your savior i'm going to read um verse 7 luke 19 verse 7 i'm sure you have your bible with you but when they saw it they all complained and saying he had gone to be a guest with a man who is a sinner you know they just came to see jesus and they get very mad that jesus wants to be with sinners because they call zacchaeus sinner and they complain and they didn't like that behavior they wanted jesus to reject sarcasm because they rejected zacchaeus then zacchaeus stood and said to the lord look lord i give half of my good to the poor and if i have taken anything from anyone by forced accusation i restore fall forth i have a question to ask can a person change as quickly as i cares and the answer is absolutely jesus can change you you can't change yourself i can change myself he can change me this was the fruit of her heart that has been changed he said he wants to give half of his possession you want to give it to the poor we praise the lord for zacchaeus for his testimony most who are safe cannot can testify many christians who are saved can testify of the lord's goodness jesus came to seek and save those who were who were lost he came again i'm gonna repeat again jesus came to seek and save those who were lost we we are lost in our sins he came to save us zacchaeus is a murder to everyone of how to receive jesus i want to read something i heard somewhere which can encourage you jesus receive receive jesus by seeking after him with real effort receive jesus by humbling yourself receive jesus no matter how sinful or hated you are receive jesus as invite you by name receive jesus without delay receive jesus by coming down to him receive jesus himself receive jesus into your life your home your family receive jesus joyfully receive jesus despite what order says receive jesus with repentance and restitution don't look around don't look around at your friends or people zacchaeus didn't care about what people think of him he wanted something nobody could give him only the lord jesus could give him he wanted to change life how do we know that zakiyah wanted something to be changed because zakiyah was seeking because nobody could see what was going on in his heart but jesus could jesus has to pass through jericho because someone needed him someone needed to be saved jesus is so merciful it's so kind he was on his way to jerusalem he was going to die on the cross but before he death before his death there were people who needed to be safe so zacchaeus is a great example that no one is too sinful so you will not be forgiven no jesus is a picture you know of grace even when sin is abound is too much god's grace abound even more so i pray that the lord will bless you the lord will keep you the lord will open your eyes as he has opened my eyes and many people's eyes we are sinners we need god's grace god bless you jesus met a man who couldn't see not because he was blind because he was little but zacchaeus met the lord jesus christ and isn't the lord jesus christ wonderful full of grace we heard grace is a wonderful thing getting what we don't deserve and that's the lord jesus christ giving what we do not deserve eternal life and forgiveness of sins do you know the god of grace boys and girls do you know the lord jesus christ that zacchaeus met and we've seen that he's met so many john the baptist his enemy guests at a wedding he met two sisters last week he met his friend on the water a few weeks ago and he met so many others you can read about them in the bible find out who because next week we're going to do something different we're not going to do the series jesus met we'll have a new one we have to come back then to find out and of course we'll have a viable memory challenge and i do hope you're learning it boys and girls you can print the sheet off on the website color it in and stick it on your wall and the next one and as you can see boys and girls it builds up and eventually you'll have the whole psalm on your wall and of course you can send it in to us too and the postman might make a delivery so that's something for you to do open your bibles and see who jesus met print off the sheets and learn the psalm and come back next week for a new series but that's all in the future right now what can we do pray we can pray and thank god for the time we've had together the things we've learned about ct stud2 and ask his blessing on the new week never slumber or sleep you're always looking out for us caring for us and working for our good and lord we thank you for the lord jesus christ who meets with sinners and saves them and is still meeting with sinners today again i pray for all listening all the children all the families parents brothers and sisters whoever might be listening to this might know the lord jesus christ might come to know him and love him and then serve him and do wonderful things and that you might have the glory for yourself because you have done it all lord we praise you we ask your blessing on this new week
