[Music] [Music] hi everyone welcome back to kidding around my name is melanie smith and i am thrilled that you are here with me today for another thoughtful thursday today we will be talking about hugs long distance hugs did you know it was possible to hug someone long distance before we do that though if you like what you're seeing here and want to follow along with all of kidding around videos please make sure to subscribe to our youtube channel below each video click the thumbs up and also if you like what you're doing here please share us with your friends thank you very much okay so moving on to hugs according to my holiday a day calendar today is national hugging day isn't that a perfect day for a thoughtful thursday i know because of a lot of things going on in the world right now that it is quite possible that you have not been able to hug everyone that you would like to hug recently and that's okay because this time will pass but until then i think it's really important to still be able to show your love and affection toward those people that you would love to hug in person so because of that today we are going to make a long distance hug i think maybe you can't see how long distance this is so i'm going to kind of squish it up to show you these are my two hands and then in the middle i have some hearts and the ribbon that connects all of these things is the length of my arms so hopefully if someone were to receive this in the mail they would be able to wrap it around them and feel my love do you think that would happen i think it's quite possible so let's get started making these so you can start sending your love through the mail too to do this you will need just a few supplies you will need some ribbon it can be this curling wrapping ribbon or it can be actual fabric ribbon you will need a hole punch and a pair of scissors and then some paper and this paper is up to you it can be patterned or it can be plain it can be construction paper or scrapbook paper whatever patterns or whatever type of paper you like that you want to put in your hearts and your hands it is up to you all right so the first thing that we are going to do oh you know what i also didn't mention you need is a pencil or a pen to trace your hand and we're going to start with that so that's why i just thought of it i'm sorry i always seem to forget that writing utensil don't i all right so the first thing that we need to do is we need to trace our hands and i will tell you this can be kind of tricky and it's really tricky to then trace the hand that you normally write with right well i have a little bit of a secret for you we only need to trace one hand and we're going to be able to trace the hand that we normally don't write with so it'll be a little easier even if it's still just a little bit tricky you can of course ask for help maybe you have an older sibling or an adult around that can help you as well if this is just a little bit too much too soon but give it a try first okay so what you do is you take the paper that you want to make your hand prints out of and you fold it in half you're going to fold it like a hamburger so the short way and then once you have it folded you're going to put the hands that you don't write with on top of that paper and then you are going to push it down push it down really hard because you don't want your fingers to move as you're tracing around all right then once you have it pushed down really hard you have to keep it pushed down you're going to take the pen or pencil in your other hand and you are going to then start tracing around your hand it's best to go slow and remember to keep that pressure on the hand that you are holding on the paper all right and then you know what if you slip or your finger moves that is totally okay just try again you can if this is double-sided paper you can actually just flip it right over and try again or you can erase your marks if you're using a pencil i would recommend you use a pencil but because i forgot mine i had a pen so that's what i used all right so now you have one hand and then you are going to take your scissors and because your paper is folded over you can just cut this one hand and you will end up with two all right so i am cutting around my thumb and again does this need to be perfect not at all do you think the person that you are sending this hug to is going to say oh they didn't cut right on the lines of course they're not right so you just get close to the lines as close as you can depending on your age this might be easier or harder it is totally fine to do what you can do right now and everyone that you are sending love to completely understands that you are sending this made completely with your love right all right so now i have cut out my hand and i am going to just kind of round out the bottom right there you can include your wrist if you would like it's totally up to you all right so now when i flip over that page you can see i have two hands and they match the right orientation so this is perfect all right so we're going to set those aside and then i am going to cut my hearts here in the middle i have these hearts that i think send just an extra bit of love again you can do these in the same paper you can do them in different paper totally your call i'm going to show you an easy way that i know to cut a heart so it again involves folding over the paper and then along the folded side now this is really important along the folded side we are going to draw a half of our heart all right so i am going to let's see i want this heart to be probably not super huge about this big so i am going to put the point of my heart that's this part of the heart that i'm going to start drawing i'm going to put that point on the fold remember it has to be on the fold and then i am going to draw up and then i am going to draw straight down into the fold just like that and then you will see that once you cut this it becomes a heart so this is going to be my bigger heart so i have cut that right along the line and there we go we have a heart now i'm actually going to show you also how to do these smaller hearts and you know what you don't even need to draw this half of a heart for the smaller ones so what you do for these is you're going to grab the paper by the fold so your hand should be on the fold this is the hand we are going to cut around our thumb but you need to make sure that when you're holding the paper like this you're on the fold because if you're over here you're going to get two halves of a heart and i think you want the whole one all right so now i am going to just cut a little bit out but along my thumb and then just cut around up here and then let's see if that makes a heart all right so you see i'm cutting around my thumb and i am coming down i'm cutting and what do you think there we go it's a great heart all right and then i am going to because i love re love using as much paper as i can before i recycle it i am going to do the same thing right here so again i'm holding this fold and then i am going to cut around my thumb i need to be really careful when i do that right i don't want to accidentally cut my hand so i'll be very careful but if i cut around my thumb there we go i have a heart all right so now we are going to put all of these together and it is super simple to do let me just clean up just a little bit here so that you can see it all so now we are going to fold back our hearts and we are going to take our hole punch and punch in about that far this will allow the ribbon to go through and then we are going to do the same with this heart you see i'm i don't know is that like a centimeter in where i'm punching my hole and then i'll do that here and then on our hands we are going to do the same thing so we can punch them separately or punch them together i'm going to line them back up and then i am going to punch in about a centimeter on this side and then flip it around and punch in about a centimeter on that side so now with my pieces punched i am going to cut the length of ribbon that i need now i like to actually cut the amount of ribbon that my arms stretch to this is up to you you could make a smaller one if you wanted to but i love this idea of this is actually the length of my arms that i am sending you so i just stretch it out and then i hold that where it was and then i'll cut it right there okay so now i'm going to start stringing all of these items on my um on my hug right so i'm going to lay them out the way that i want them i want that bigger heart in the middle the smaller hearts on this side and then of course i want my hands on the ends now i'm going to try to keep the thumbs up as i do this because obviously as i stretch out my hands my thumbs are up so this is how i'm going to start it now i have another decision to make i need to decide if i want the ribbon to go across the pattern or if i want the ribbon to come behind the piece of paper so if i want the ribbon to go across the pattern i will take my ribbon and the first place that i put it will be under the paper and so then i will pull it up through the bottom and go down through the next hole so that would put my ribbon right there if i decide that i want my ribbon behind the paper then the first thing that i do is i start with my ribbon going down if i can get it through there and then i comment over to the other side and i find the hole and i pull it up so then the ribbon there is on the back so it's your call you could mix it up you could match it it's whatever you want i think that i like it better this way so this is how i am going to uh to do mine so once i have my hand laced i am going to pull my ribbon all the way through and then i am going to come over here to the end and i am going to tie a great big knot here in my ribbon so that the hands stay on the ribbon it can be a little bit tricky to tie a big knot because what you have to do is actually tie the same knot or tie a knot in the same place over and over again this gets better with practice if this is um if this is creating an issue for you hopefully you have a grown-up around that you can ask for some help with that all right so now i have my knot tied and i am going to start lacing so i find my empty my empty lace and then again i want my ribbon to go in the back so i am going to go down right down through the heart and come back up i'm hopeful not to get tangled over here all right and then i will go up down through the heart gosh i almost did it across the front which would be totally fine of course but i just like the idea of the ribbon being in the background all right and then i am going to part of my problem is i'm turning it around all right so i put that down and now you can see that i have my hand and i have my three hearts laced and now i am going to do the end one with my hand so i am going to remember i want my thumbs up so i am going to go down through this top hole by my thumb if i can get it in there and then i am going to come back up there we go through the bottom and there we go so now i hold out my my arms and my hug so now i'm going to come to the very end of this ribbon because again that represents my arm length and i am going to tie another big knot here so i'm going to loop it around my finger and then there's that hole that my finger left and then i'm going to take the tiny end of the ribbon and pull it through that hole and again trying to get four knots in a row can be kind of tricky it just takes practice give it a shot you know what this even if you don't get it today the practice that you get today will help you the next time that you are trying to make a great big knot and you can see even me with years of practice i still sometimes struggle all right so there we go we have our completed hug and you can you know fix these up however you want you can stretch them out so they're exactly centered and your hug is ready to be mailed to whoever you want to send your love to so that brings me to another interesting topic do you know how to mail something in the mail i thought we would take just a quick moment and talk about how we address an envelope that way once you're done with this you can put it right in the envelope you can put a stamp on it which we'll talk about and then you can put it in the post office box so that the mail carrier can take it right away all right so there is a format that you need to follow when you're writing an envelope out when you're addressing an envelope the person that you're sending this to their information so their name and their address goes right here this should be the biggest information that you see on the envelope and then you are going to put your return address up here so we are going to send this to my pretend friend mary smith all right so her name is mary smith i should also mention that you should always use something that's permanent as you're addressing things so no pencil on the front of an envelope make sure to use a pen all right so i wrote out mary smith and i wrote it very legibly right you know computers and machines are actually what read most of our mail and it's much more likely that if the machine can read it it will get to its destination as quickly as possible okay then i need to write her address her street address so you live in a house or an apartment and it has a number probably associated with it so we are going to say the number of her house is 123. so we're gonna say one two three but then she also lives on a street and the name of that street we're going to say is main street so i will then write that out 123 main street so her name goes on the first line and then her house number and the road that she lives on goes on the second line now if you live in an apartment or you have a unit number associated with your house that would go here so we are going to say that she lives on 123 main street and she lives in unit 1 a and then we're going we're going to go to the next line and the next line is the city that she lives in we're going to make up a funny name we're going to say any town any town so you write that out and then comes the state code so we live in one of 50 states and each state has a code associated with it it's a two letter code i live in washington so we're going to say that any town is in washington and i happen to know that the state code for washington is capital a capital w capital a so if you don't know the state code of the state that you're sending it to you can look it up online or you might be able to ask an adult they might know them it's usually the first letter and the second letter of the state but it's not always so don't depend on that and then we're going to put her zip code the final piece of information that you put on this envelope is a zip code so we'll just use my zip code 98074 so we have her name on the top line we have her street address and her house number on the second line and then we have the city the state and the zip code on the third line all written very legibly in pen okay so now the post office knows where this is going and so then we are going to write up here our return address this is in case something goes wrong and they need to return it to you so if you forget to put postage on it they might return it to you or if for some reason mary has moved and this is an incorrect address they might return it to you and then that way you would know to contact mary another way to get her current address so i'll put my address up here so we have melanie smith that's my name right and then we are going to put the address so this is kidding around address so it's 704 228th avenue north east number 174 in sammamish that's where i live that's kind of a funny word isn't it sammamishwashington98074 so you can see that the formatting is still the same it's my name my uh you or my house number this isn't actually my house number this is a post office box but this is the same as right my house number this street and then the unit and then i have my city my state and my zip code and of course all of this works in the united states if you are sending something internationally or if you don't live in the united states the formatting is relatively similar in most places but you should definitely check that out before addressing something you can look that up online and there are many places that you can search and they'll tell you exactly how to address an envelope that is going to a country other than the united states all right so it is all ready to go now it needs a stamp because we need to pay the post office to get our letter from one place to another right so then you take your stamp and uh then you put it on your envelope i'm actually not going to put it on this envelope because i want to be able to use the stamp and this is a fake address but the stamp goes up in the right hand corner and then you will be able to send it if it's an envelope like this and the envelope is you know only has a few pieces of paper in it and isn't bulging one first class forever stamp will get it there if it's bigger if you send it in something like this or if it's really thick then you'll need to check online or you can go to the post office and they can help you know exactly how much postage you need to put on your uh your letter if you wanted to put something more in here or your hands are bigger you can put them in a bigger envelope and the formatting is basically the same we would write the name here mary smith and then we would write 123 main street and number one a and then any town washington nine eight zero seven four so this is the most important information when you're sending something so that's the most visible and then again up in the left hand corner you write your return address and i won't make you wait for me to write that all but just pretend that i have written it all out and it is exactly the same and then you put your stamps up here but again because this is bigger you would need more postage than just one forever stamp so you would need to talk to someone at the post office or look it up you would need to weigh it and then look up the um the postal chart and it could tell you exactly how much postage you need to put on it but again it goes in the same place just like up here the upper right hand corner and before we finish up i realize i didn't exactly explain how the stamps work so i just want to let you know about that of course if i put this letter in my box outside my house and the post office carrier comes and picks it up and then takes it to the post office and it gets sorted and sent to the right place i should pay for that right because someone is doing a service for me so the way that i take care of that is with these stamps and the way that you buy a stamp is that you can go to the post office and you can buy them in like this this is 20 at a time you can buy them one at a time you can buy them 100 at a time and they're all the same cost and then when you take this stamp off and you put it on the envelope the post office knows that you have paid the right amount to get this letter from my box to my friend's box wherever it's going so that's kind of an interesting thing i know when i was young i didn't quite understand how stamps translated to money so you pay it ahead of time and then this is just the proof that you have paid hopefully that makes a little bit more sense well i hope that you have had fun making your long distance heart i have to say i think i'm a little tangled here but i hope that you have had fun making them and i would love to see pictures of you holding up your long distance hugs before they go in the envelopes on to their final destination thank you so much for joining me thank you for spreading kindness and love around the world thanks for kidding around with me i will see you next time you

What is an electronic and digital signature?

To understand the difference between a signature stamp and electronic signature, let’s consider what electronic signatures and signature stamps are. An electronic signature is a digital analogy to a handwritten signature, while a signature stamp is created using a method called hashing to formulate a unique private and public key. Both are legally binding. However, electronic signatures are much more convenient from an ease-of-use point of view because signature stamps require several keys and a digital certification for each signature (e-stamp) applied.

How can I incorporate an electronic signature solution into my workflow?

We recommend using airSlate SignNow, it’s an eSignature solution suitable for organizations of all sizes. Create an account and upload the documents you need to eSign and share. Establish teams and include your employees and partners for better collaboration when negotiating on agreements, templates, and contracts. Moreover, embed airSlate SignNow electronic signature into your app or website using its easy-to-integrate API.

How can I sign a page and combine it with another PDF?

It is not difficult to sign one page and then combine it with another, but you face the risk of making your document invalid. In short, an eSignature confirms that a person got acquainted and agreed with the contents inside a PDF before signing it. To combine separate documents after signing can be seen as voiding an electronic signature. What that means is when merging, you create a new document that loses all the timestamps and IP addresses of its originals, turning the legally-binding signature into a simple picture attached to the document. airSlate SignNow’s Document History keeps records of all changes taken to a particular file. What you should do for a more streamlined, time-effective experience while negotiating on contracts is Merge documents in airSlate SignNow before you sign them or send them for signing.
