[Music] hello and welcome to code Pro your source for helpful and effective programming tutorials today we're going to be continuing the iOS tutorial series covering the UI text field and how we can use text fields in our iOS application to receive and process user input so before we get started let's go ahead and take a look at what we're going to be building today all right I've got my iOS iPhone 6 emulator open here and you can see I have a little input form with a couple of text fields a button and then a text view below where we're going to paste the results from the input field but before we go ahead and run this let's go ahead and check one thing with your simulator selected go under the hardware tab here at the top in the menu go down a keyboard and make sure you toggle the software keyboard so that when we click into a text field the virtual keyboard comes up if you're on a simulator if you're on a real device you don't have to worry about this but let's go ahead and then go ahead and add some characters in here I'll just do code Pro for the name and I'll go ahead and hit the return key to dismiss this one enter a password just do something a BF and we've got another field here for phone number and you can see that this is a different keyboard that comes up it said new it's a number-pad keyboard so I'll just do 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 oops ok and I'm going to since it doesn't have a return key click out of the keyboard or a data field to dismiss it and then go ahead and err a little button here and you can see that we're facing in exactly what we entered into the text view below alright alright so to get started go ahead and open Xcode and create a new iOS single view application once you've done that we need to go ahead and first to get our interface set up so let's go over top over into our main storyboard here and we're going to open the assistant and actually not just yet we're going to go add our text fields to our view controller so we'll select the starting View controller and we'll go down to the object library here and them right let's look for a couple text fields so we'll see we've got some here let's just drag them over onto our view controllers view and we're also going to use a text view to display the results and so we'll also want to drag a text view as well onto our view controllers view finally we need to add a button to process our results here so we'll look for a button and we'll drag that onto the view controllers view now let's go ahead...
