in this video i'm going to demonstrate how an adjudicator will communicate the adjudication fee to the parties and how the parties can pay the fees after an adjudicator consents to adjudicate the adjudicator and the parties must negotiate the adjudication fee once the parties and the adjudicator agree on a fee then the adjudicator will communicate that fee to the parties on the system to formalize the fee agreement and the parties will receive an email from the system saying that there's a new update on the system so once the parties log in they will have a notification that says fee agreement and retainer please click here to formalize the fee agreement with the adjudicator and to view and pay the retainer once the parties click on the fees tab they will see the adjudication fee that was communicated by the adjudicator it might be a flat fee or an hourly rate and there will also be details of a certification fee and a referral fee where applicable for information on the different types of fees please refer to the schedule of fees it's available at odac.ca under claimants or respondents schedule the fees and there's information on the adjudication fee on the referral fee and the certification fee the adjudication fee is split between all the parties so a thousand dollars for the claimant and the respondent this example there's no certification fee in this case but if there was there it would be split between both parties and if there was a referral fee it would be payable by the claimant as per the scheduler fees if the adjudication was perceiving based on an hourly rate then the retainer that's calculated will be calculated based on an estimated 60 hours of work the parties can then click on consent to fees to formalize the fee agreement with the adjudicator and after clicking on consent to fees the the retainer line will be updated to show it's ready to pay and there will be a link to pay the retainer via credit card the retainer can also be paid by electronic funds transfer or by check and if odac is asked to set the fee then the parties will not have to consent to the fees since they were set by all that the financials tab contains information about the retainers and invoices that are created and there are also links to pay the retainers or invoices as well as to download a pdf copy of the invoice once all the parties approve the adjudication fee amount an email will be sent saying that there's a new update on the system and on the system there will be a notification that says all parties approve the education fee on the fees tab the status of the retainers will say ready to pay for both of them meaning that both retainers were approved if someone makes a payment via credit card then there will be a notification on the system as well as a corresponding email saying that there's a new notification on the system and the notification will say that the retainer was paid and that click here to give you a summary of the payment so you can see payments were received and payment style status as paid and there will be payment transactions added for the retainers that were paid if a party downloads the retainer after it was paid the pdf will contain a watermark that says paid for further information on fixed retainers and payments please visit our website odac.ca and under claimants or respondents face retainers and payments you will find further information if you have any questions please email us at authority obac.ca
