here we're going to have a look as the unit end of Bearcats UBC one two five it's a handheld scanner and it's particularly useful for both air band and marine monitoring it also covers other frequencies PMR etc and of course how much radio you hear you see the accessories you get you get a USB lead a mains AC adapter a pair of rechargeable batteries and the rubber duck antenna on a carry strap it's quite a smart radio as you can see here six evening to Palm hand it's nicely built and get a fill in that it's quite rugged so in that respect no worries at all so here we have the radio with the keypad on the front there built-in speaker on top there is a rotary encoder control there which acts as putting control spots control and also as the means of switching between channels the antenna is a B and C fitting if we turn it over back there we have the battery compartment and it takes a couple of ia cells yeah and the on/off button is there Press that and there we are it lights up and we're ready to go one of the most important things of course is how all the radio works and for air band monitoring I've got a standard reference point I'm about four miles away from South India port and I get a reasonable signal from the air traffic information service but with sort of gentle background noise to me that is the standard for which I expect so receivers to work so let's I've tuned this radio to the South End our frequency so let's just switch it on and see it works well that's about what I expect from a year against on radio I'm quite happy with that so let's see how to enter a frequency now one three six just small Oh sized and there we are that frequencies now in the memory and the EBC actually works so by storing frequencies into it so he knows well the UBC one to five seems to work quite well and as you would imagine there's a lot of other features on it it's got very comprehensive scanning facilities you can look at certain channels it's got CT CSS honest and so forth far too much really for me to cover in a video but it is a comprehensive scanner and you won't be disappointed the one thing I would say is that the rubber duck aerial rather like any other scanner you care to mention that's got a rubber ducky Ariel has limited performance because it's probably resonant somewhere but it's highly highly unlikely it's going to be resonant where you particular interest is so for example I concentrated on the air band the rubber duck with the one to five certainly is written on the air band there's a very easy fix for that and that is to get a dedicated...
