of a number is simply the number that comes before so if from a number if you subtract minus one you get a predecessor successor of a number is the number that comes after so from a number if you add one you get a successor right so to date predecessor of a number just simply subtract minus one to date a successor just add one let's look at a few examples find the predecessor of 23 867 right if you subtract one from this number you will basically just get 23 eight six six right so 23 eight six seven minus one you will just subtract seven and one right so 7 minus 1 will be 6 and this remaining digits will be the same two three eight six six find the predecessor of 100 million if you subtract one from 100 million right you have to keep on 18 boards right in the subtraction so you a four digit number while we want the five digit number so we simply exchange 0 with the next number it is so instead of zero one will make this one zero and that will be the smallest five digit
