Write assorted number
hello is super second graders welcome to math today i'm super excited to talk to you today about our four ways that we write numbers and we did this a little bit last week so this is just review and then we're gonna kind of dive a little bit deeper and we're gonna use some examples that go a little bit bigger than we did last week so um as a refresher just so you remember we have four ways that we write our numbers and the first way is standard form is that and that is where we use the digits or the actual numbers to write it and we put them in the correct places in our place value so for our number example right here we have 76 our seven is in our tens place and our six is in our ones place we write it in word form that's our second way using the letters to spell out seventy six seventy six and then we have expanded form and we really um worked on this last week expanded form is where we take the value of each number in its place and we write it out in a number sentence so we know our seven is in our our tens place and so seven tens is 70 and we can do that by counting by tens if we want um 70 and then plus our number that's in our ones place which is six seventy plus six equals seventy six then we have our model or our base ten form this is where we use our base ten blocks to represent our number we can use actual base 10 blocks if we were in class or you can draw them out and so on here we have our seven tens and our six ones all right we're going to go through some examples together i would like you to practice writing our numbers in our four different ways while we do this all right friends all right our next number is the number 34 and they gave it to us in word form so let's see what it looks like in standard form we have 3 in our tens place and four in our ones place thirty four then expanded form we're gonna break it down for how much each part is worth our three in our tens place is three tens twenty thirty so thirty plus four ones thirty plus four and then our model form we have our three tens rods and four ones blocks all right on our next one they gave us our base ten so we need to count our base ten blocks oh and these are hundreds squares so we've got our 100 squares here let's count our 100 squares we have 100 200 300 400 500 600 600 do we have any tens no tens i do not see any tens rods on there so we have 600 and then just one two three ones so six hundred three this one's a little tricky because it does not have any tens but we write it in standard form like this six hundred no tens and three ones six hundred three we write it in word form six hundred three and we write it in expanded form 600 plus 3. at any point if you need to pause so you can write this down that is fine all right our next number we gave we have in expanded form expanded form we have 200 plus 60 plus 6. two hundred plus sixty plus six in standard form we write that two hundred sixty six two hundred sixty six we write that in word form 266 and then in model form we have our 200 squares our six tens tens rods and six ones blocks all right now we have 615 600 and that is in our word form so let's look at what that looks like in standard form we have 615 we know we have 110 in 15 so we six one five six hundred fifteen in expanded form we break it down we have six hundreds so six hundred one ten so ten and five ones and then in model form we have our six hundred squares we have our one tens rod because we have one ten and we have five ones y'all are doing such a good job i just know it all right guys this is where it gets a little bit harder and a little bit trickier but you guys are super second graders and i know you can do it this is where we add our thousands place our thousands place look at this number in standard form we have 1 124 and we always put a comma after our thousands place to make sure we know what place value is each so we have 1 124 in standard form now in word form we write that out 1000 one hundred twenty-four in expanded form we look at our thousands place we know we have one thousand so that equals one thousand we have one hundred equals one hundred two tens which is twenty and four ones one thousand one hundred one thousand plus one hundred plus twenty plus four and then if you notice we added our thousands cubes over here for our base ten blocks so we have about one thousand cube one one hundred square two ten squares and four ones blocks all right now we have word form one thousand two hundred one thousand two hundred one thousand two hundred we don't have any tens or ones in this one so in expanded form we just write our one thousand plus two hundred we don't need anything for the tens or anything for the ones because there's zero there there's zero and in our model form we just have our one thousand block in our two hundreds block all right now we have our base 10 blocks to show us we look we have our one thousands block right here so 1000 oh but i don't see any hundreds on there i don't see any hundreds so there's no hundred so it's just going to be one thousand ten twenty thirty forty 40 1040 and then we'll count our ones one two three four five six seven eight so one thousand forty eight is our number and we write it like this in standard form one thousand there's no hundreds so we have to put a zero there you cannot leave that zero out that zero has to be there one thousand forty eight and we write it in word form one thousand and then finally in expanded form this is our very last one guys and you've done an awesome job we write our 1000 value plus our four tens is 40 and our eight ones is eight one thousand plus forty plus eight i want you guys to give yourself a pat on the back and give your brain a kiss because you guys are super smart and you did such a good job now go do your math work on think central and i'll see you guys later
