listen today's topic is I believe it's a fantastic one today's topic is how to change from one brokerage to another in other words you're working for one brokerage a and you want to go work for a brokerage B you want to you want to break your ties with brokerage a how do you do it is as simple as a complicating ready this is the deal but before we get started with that let me let me give you a quote that I found that I think it's fantastic this quote says this and this by a good man toy Robbins I'm sure you know that Tony Robbins and he says don't be afraid of what can go wrong be excited of what can go right so where does it start well this is how it starts number one changing changing changing is it happens all the time it's inevitable it happens real quick story Babe Ruth you know Babe Ruth Babe Ruth one of the best baseball players ever of all time his first five years in playing baseball he played for ready let's see if you know this he played for the Boston Red Sox from 1914 and 1919 those six years you play for the Boston Red Sox only hit 50 home runs roughly 50 home runs not a big deal then soon after he got traded he actually got bought by the Yankees spent 15 years with the Yankees and what the Yankees he hit almost 650 almost 700 home runs oh my god he went from one team to another and what he did was he made himself a legend when he made that change he made that chain from the massa Red Sox to the Yankees became that great Bambino the the swing of Swat he this guy was amazing and that was all based on the change the one from the Boston Red Sox of the Yankees that being said sometimes changes are great sometimes changes are necessary sometimes a change is needed for you to grow that being said a lot of realtors in the real estate field also require a change the deal is this when do we know that it changed unnecessary alright nothing about this when do we know that a change is necessary we joined a brokerage will call it brokerage a and when we go into this brokerage we want to make sure the culture is right we want to make sure the leadership is right we want to make sure the training is right we want to make sure the Commission is reasonable all this package this package that you are expecting we want it to be beautiful but sometimes those that package changes and it's not what you expected as a realtor you thought the training was gonna be great and it's not as great as you thought you thought that leadership would be supportive and guess what it's not as supportive as you thought it was gonna be so all these things start affecting your business your business isn't flourishing as you wish it would so what do you do you start contemplating well maybe this isn't the brokerage for me maybe I need a change nothing wrong with that again don't forget what we said before don't be afraid of what can go wrong be excited of what can go right that being said a lot of us think about well maybe it's time for me to to find another brokerage another brokerage that might be my cup of tea another brokerage that will be supportive and all that good stuff that we talked about it so why do it well of course don't forget one thing you are what we call an independent contractor what does that mean you're running your own business you're running your own business man that means you have to do what's best for you business-wise in other words you got to think with your with your head and not with your heart a lot of Realtors are afraid to leave their brokerage because their heart is attached to that place they got friends there you know that they feel bad if they did leave they feel like they're letting up brokerage down and these people are dear friends I'm gonna tell you it's about you and your independent contracting abilities and you have to go out there and make it happen for yourself for your family and those you love got think with your head and find out which brokerage for you what allow you to flourish or allow you to make it big would allow you to be more successful so you decide to go to a brokerage B now brokerage B decide you pay them a visit and they're willing I don't know maybe to get me more Commission that's pretty damn attractive so don't want to give you more Commission or they have a better training program that's attractive or they have great leadership and the culture is just buzzing it's exciting when you show up well that's pretty damn exciting so you say you know what I think it's time for me to change to brokerage B now how do we do this ready number one well you want to be nice about it you don't just want to cut off your tie it with brokerage and say hey brokerage it how you doing nice knowing ya I'm out not the good way it's not the best way to do things you might want to sit down with the leadership there and let them know that you appreciate them but that you're ready to go out and grow you want to try something different for your own business they'll extremely extremely understand that I guarantee they'll understand now they may want to talk you into not leaving but you already know what's best for you and that would be to go to a brokerage B so you never want to bring your bridges never bring your bridges because in real estate we all need each other don't forget you may need brokerage a one day so you don't want to burn your bridges so you go and join brokerage be how do we do it ready here comes so how do we officially do it rather simple that's actually the easy part the hard part is letting a brokerage a know that you're leaving the easy part is the paperwork now this is the deal there's two ways you can do it number one there's actually a form a form you can get from the d-r-e department of real estate its form 204 got it our e 204 and that form simply is change of brokerage it's a change of brokerage you fill it out have the new broker sign it have the old broker sign it send it in not a big deal the easier way to do this is because everything nowadays is online everything is online to make things easier for everybody you can go on the d-r-e website and on there oh it's there's a tab which is called a licensee you're kidding me this is fantastically easy you go to the e licensing portion and you say I want to change brokerages you go ahead and click on there and answer the question which says are you going to be changing brokerages you select yes and from that point on brokerage a simply has to confirm that you're leaving them you put the new information of brokerage B and it's all said and done that's the message easiest part but I want you to concentrate on is what's the best thing for you to do when it comes to childress their career and sometimes it requires changes and changes are okay man they'll make you a lot stronger business wise and will make you a lot stronger in the real estate world when it comes to developing your skills sometimes we have to change all
