Everyone is trying to be the next multi-millionaire, with three Bentleys in the garage, a private jet ready for takeoff, a summer home in Italy, and hundos raining from the ceiling. Yes, we have all seen those people on the internet. And while on your endless search for the big break that will make you rich and give you the life of your dreams, you probably stumbled upon a little high-income skill called copywriting. But the more you look into it, the more mixed messages you're getting. Why is it that some copywriters seem to be making millions and other copywriters are barely scraping by? Can copywriting really make you rich or, is it just one of those empty promises that only a secret few are lucky enough to achieve? Well, after 10 years of working in this industry, I am here to confidently tell you without a shred of doubt that copywriting can in fact make you rich, and in more ways than one. And at the end of this video, I'll prove it to you by showing you the biggest invoice I've ever sent as a freelance copywriter. Now, I promised I'd keep it 100, so yes, copywriting can make you rich, but there is something that all those gurus aren't telling you out there, that before you can get rich quick, you need an intentional business plan that takes you on a journey of so many ups and downs, milestones, goals, setbacks, and obstacles along the way. That overnight success story is actually years and years of trial and error, plus one night. And those copywriters who are making millions of dollars did not start off by charging hundreds of dollars an hour. The truth is that in copywriting, just like anything else, you get out what you put in. Now, I am not gonna tell you that it will be easy, but I will tell you that if you persevere and work hard, there are five pretty bad-ass ways that copywriting can make you rich. And yes, number five is all about that money 'cause I know you be wondering. And to prove it to you, I'm gonna show you the single biggest invoice that I ever sent to one of my retainer clients in a single month. So here are the five ways that copywriting can make you rich. Number one, freedom. So it's probably no secret that being rich isn't all about the money in your bank account. Now, I promise that I will talk about money later in this video, but first, I want to talk to you about all the other ways that copywriting can make you rich. To some people, myself included, having happiness and freedom is what it really means, because when you're stuck in that nine to five, commuting for hours each day, feeling underappreciated and undervalued, chances are, it really doesn't matter how much money you're making, because you'll feel unhappy and unsatisfied with your life, right? Well, copywriting gives you a way out of that life. So if wanna to sleep until 9:00 a.m or take a two hour lunch break, or just stop working at 3:00 p.m. every day when your creativity falls flat, you can absolutely do that if you're a freelance copywriter because you work for yourself. Your life suddenly becomes so much more balanced, easygoing, and enjoyable. You can work when you want, where you want, and for as long as you want, and it's really hard to put a price tag on freedom like that. All right, number two, happiness. In my copywriting coaching program, one of the biggest reasons that many of my students start looking to get into freelance copywriting is so they can spend more time with their family and their loved ones. The single mom who wants to be at home with her kids, the dad that has traveled for work so much and is missing out on their kids growing up, the daughter who wants to spend more time with her aging and elderly parents, or the 20 something-year-old that wants to spend more time making lasting memories with their friends and travel the world. Hey, and just like in number one, copywriting gives you the ability to spend more time with the people who matter the most to you. And there is no secret here, but when you spend more time connecting with the people you love, you are in fact, a happier person. But, in addition to that, freedom and happiness, copywriting also gives you the ability to jet off to, oh, I don't know, how about Italy for the weekend, what do you say? Which brings us to number three, experiences. So one of my personal favorite things about being a copywriter is the ability to travel wherever, whenever I want, well, before the global pandemic made that really, really hard. But in the last few years, I've been to Italy, Spain, Russia, Morocco, France, Costa Rica, Aruba, Germany, Hawaii, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, the list goes on and on, and I didn't need to put in a single vacation request, get it approved by my boss, or make sure I was back in a certain amount of time because people were waiting on me. All I needed to do was pack up my laptop and take it with me wherever I wanted to go. I've written from cafes in Paris, five-star riads in Morocco, overlooking the Southern Italian coastline from flower-covered terraces, and even from cozy airbnb's on the side of a mountain in between trips to the ski hill. Who says you have to choose between seeing the world or making tons of money? When you're a copywriter, you can have the best of both worlds. And to me, experiences are way better than things anyway. In fact, it is scientifically proven that experiential purchases provide more enduring happiness than material purchases. All right, number four, fulfillment. Okay, so this one might be tied for my favorite part of the job, but it's that I actually make a difference in people's lives. When you're a copywriter, it's literally your job to get good products into the hands of people who actually need them to help them solve real problems. And there is no better feeling in the world than writing copies so compelling that it convinces even the biggest skeptic to buy a product or service that will change their freaking life. So watching my students quit their nine to fives, travel the world, spend more time with their families and find true happiness is so rewarding to me, that is why I do this, that is why I became a copywriter, and that is why I'm a copywriting coach, more than any other reason. It's why I continue to film these videos every single week, host challenges, and teach programs, because watching you guys succeed truly fuels my fire and keeps me going. All right, number five on the list, the one you really came here for, can copywriting make me rich, like money rich? And my answer is yes, of course it can. But like I said in the beginning of this video, you get out what you put in. Don't expect to make a million dollars in your first year. It takes time to build up the experience, expertise, and social proof you need to charge the big bucks. So when I first started my freelancing business after quitting my job at Mindvalley and moved back to Canada, I lived in a friend's tiny spare room and I slept on an air mattress from Walmart and I could barely pay my friend's dad's discounted rent of $400 a month. But now that I've been doing this for 10 years, I've built a business where I could charge way more than I ever made as a nine to fiver, because I have proven my skill time and time again. I've made myself invaluable to my clients and I've become in demand enough that I have a month's long waiting list. And to give you an idea of just how much an experienced freelance copywriter can make, this is the biggest invoice that I've ever sent out as a freelance copywriter.
