We don't have any easy answers to this simple issue. However, the best solution to our problem is a way, however simple, to sign a pdf.
How to Sign an XPS File?
1. Create the PDF you would like to sign using Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat. If you are a first time user, download the Acrobat Reader application from Adobe.
2. Create a New folder and call it XPS Signing
3. Unzip the latest file you downloaded and use your favorite free editor (like Notepad++) to open it. The latest release in this zip was called
4. Make note of the path to the file. You can find it in the file and change it if you like.

6. In Adobe Acrobat, go to File > Properties and click on the Compatibility tab
