Because everything in Hong Kong still runs on paper, and if you email them a letter, they will just print it out.One nice thing about paper is that you run into fewer data security issues, since everything is on paper so you know where your data is.One other thing is that in a lot of transactions, it's important to have everything in a fixed document.  For example, in a lot of legal work and work with the HK bureaucracy, I find that even when people communicate via e-mail, what people will do is to write the document as a attachment, and then use e-mail to send the document.  E-mail is for conversations and not for document submission.Once you are in this mode, then it turns out that if you want to do something, you have to export the document as a PDF, attach it to an e-mail. and the person at the other end, unattaches the email, and prints it out.  The other problem with e-mail documents, is that a lot of Hong Kong transactions require physical signatures, and it's easy to fax a form, sign the document, and then refax the resulting document.

Perhaps not "lesser known", but I've been using keyboard shortcuts for years under "Settings": This probably comes from my vim background, but inside gmail, I almost never use the mouse. E- sign is a new facility provided for GST enrolment. It will enable the taxpayer to sign their GST enrolement application without using DSC. If you are an individual , HUF and partnership then you can file the enrolment application without DSC. You can sign the enrolment application electronically using the E- sign. It will result in cost saving as you will not have pay for the DSC. It will be easier for you as other procedure like registering DSC will also not be required.What is E- sign? How does it work?E- sign stands for electronic signature. It is an online electronic signature service that allows an Aadhaar holder to digitally sign a document. If the taxpayer opts to electronically sign the enrolement application or any other document at the GST common portal using the e- sign services.Following steps will be required to use E- signThe GST common portal prompts the taxpayer to enter the Aadhaar number of the authorized signatory.After validating the Aadhar number , the GST common portal sends a request to UIDAI system to send an OTPUIDAI system sends an OTP to e- mail address and mobile number registered against Aadhar number.the GST system prompts the taxpayer to enter the OTP.The taxpayer enters the OTP and submits the Enrollment Application or the document. Being an eSignature geek myself, I have the same concerns you do about the vulnerability (and enforceability) of eSignature based documents. I can only tell you how we handle this... All WP eSignature signed documents and signatures are kept hidden and encrypted on the server at all times, using a GUID encryption sequence. If a hacker ever attempts to unencrypt a document and change so much as a period to a comma the document will automatically throw a 404 Document not found message and alert all parties associated with the document that their document has been tampered with. If this were to happen you could prove in court that the document was tampered with and not the original document that you eSigned.

Completed legal compliance and requirement is met when all parties to the contract sign each and every page of the written contract.Though signatures are mandatorily required on the last page of the deed in order to make it a binding and legally enforceable contract but it is better that all pages of the same are signed by all parties to the contract.This is so that from such an act it is proved that all of the said pages were read, understood and accepted by all the signatories before executing the same. No page of the contract and be added or taken out from the said instrument as such tampering or cheating is avoided.Best is that all the pages of the contract be spread and signatures of all the parties are affixed on all of the said pages so that a portion of each signature comes on each of the page and forms complete signature when the said sheets are spread out. ( for example act which cancels all sets of the contract.This all adds authenticity to the document and shows the act of execution as a fair play by parties to the contract. Thereafter this seals the chances of the arising of any excuses or arguments by any of the said parties.Full signatures on the last page at the conclusion of the contract seal the fate and complete legal enforceability of the same qua the executors.
