When almost every opposition party doubts EVM and claims it can be easily hacked, why do not ECI take cognizance and do somethin
“Words are wind.”There are thousands of MP aspirants and many more MLA aspirants in India. There are dozens of large national and regional political parties and each has hundreds of people willing to say anything for limelight. The EC is not indebted to hear every tinfoil theory or baseless allegation. The entire “EVMs are rigged” narrative has been around for a long time now. Initially they were legit, and have been actioned on through the addition of VVPAT for people to verify the outcome of their action.Since, then it has become an easy fallback argument for the losing party in any election.Last year, during the state elections in Chattisgarh and MP, Congress claimed that there was EVM-rigging on 1st Dec. The results were announced on 10th, and since Congress won both states, suddenly the EVMs had worked perfectly as intended.Congress leaders @DrAMSinghvi @plpunia @VTankha & @ManishTewari address the media after their meeting with the EC regarding tampering of EVMs in Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. #मोदी_से_EVM_बचाओhttps://t.co/OWba19g6Hd— Congress (@INCIndia) December 1, 2018 During Nov-Dec 2018, five different state elections were held. Congress won 3 of them, but lost in one major state — Telangana. Guess what? They only complained about EVM tampering in Telanagana — Thumped by KCR, Congress grumbles EVMs manipulated in Telangana.Remember when AAP MLA Saurabh Bhardwaj “demonstrated” how EVMs can be hacked by using a cheap replica of the machine likely bought on Amazon?[1] But then when the EC invited them to a hacking challenge, they conveniently backed out. [2]Only the NCP and CPI (M) came forward, but they too backed out at the last minute. "On June 3, 2017, the ECI conducted the EVM challenge wherein only two parties NCP and CPIM submitted their interest in participating in the EVM challenge. However, on the day of the challenge, they said they only want to understand the process.Or when a self-proclaimed techie named Shuja Syed claimed that EVMs were tampered with in 2014 to help the BJP win?[3] He then also claimed the same for the Brexit memorandum proving that he is just another loony limelight grabber.[4]“EVM hacked” is the “Wolf! If monosodium glutamate (MSG) makes you happy, it can't be that bad, right?
If you are part of the vast majority of people who do not have a sensitivity to monosodium glutamate (MSG), there is no scientific evidence to suggest it is bad for you. While many people believe MSG adversely affects a large percentage of the population, the fact is that less than two percent have a reaction to it.MSG has been used for nearly 100 years as a food additive in cooking. It is present in your body. It is present in most of the foods you eat, including the breast milk your mother fed you as a baby. It is naturally occurring and abundantly in foods such as eggs, beef, chicken, potatoes, corn, oysters, tomatoes, mushrooms and peas, among many others. There is no doubt that MSG greatly enhances and intensifies the natural flavor of foods, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it actually makes you happy or has a euphoric drug-like effect on the human body. From the US Food and Drug Administration website:Is MSG safe to eat?FDA considers the addition of MSG to foods to be “generally recognized as safe” (GRAS). Although many people identify themselves as sensitive to MSG, in studies with such individuals given MSG or a placebo, scientists have not been able to consistently trigger reactions.source: Questions and Answers on Monosodium glutamate (MSG)It is unfortunate that MSG has developed such as bad rap, perpetuated by restaurants posting these types of signs (as if it applied to the majority of people). It's the equivalent of saying 'we don't add any salt'. For two percent, the warning is a good thing. For 98 percent, it's a non-issue.More > The Facts on Monosodium GlutamateA Short History of MSG - Good Science, Bad Science and Taste Cultures

What are the consequences of doing a 40 day water fast for weight loss?
There is a fact, and that fact is People havent the sligthest ideea about Body physiology actually functions and what REALLY happens when you cut out Food for such a Long period of time. First there are a lot of misconceptions, and a lot of misunderstandings as People assume stuff that simply is not conform with reality.Let me start by saying that what I consider a perfect fast consists of the following, where the perfect fast is the fast that has a the biggest Impact on health gain possible. And when I mean the biggest I mean getting rid of stuff modern medicine considers untreatable, and currently is “treated symptomatic” – everything from diabetes, multiple sclerosis, cancers, anemias of all kind, AIDS, all and every autoimmune diseases, all and every dermatologic diseases, which goes so far so to completely cure stuff like 100% blindess from end stage glaucoma, and EVEN if every combination of the above is present in the body. You can add you favorite or unfavorite disease in the list.1)A perfect fast is done using as a water source only PURE water. That means distilled water of the highest Quality. Don’t get me even started on using water that has no electrolites, Trust me when i am telling you there is absolutely no problem in running out of electrolites as we will see later on.2)A perfect fast is not 1 week or 2 weeks or even 40 days. A perfect fast last as long as the body has enough energy reserves to burn before starvation occurs. Starvation means all redundant non important for survival tissue has been burned off. When that occurs, and there is nothing left to burn that is non essential for survival, then you enter the starvation period. When this period starts to occur, there are some signs present, like returning of true hunger, which is a sensation in the throath and not in the belly, clearing of the tongue – where the tongue is pink rose, like that of new born babies, no more foul breath. This however make take more time that you might imagine, it could be 40 days, but it may as well be 50 60 or more days. Before this line will be crossed, there is absolutely no danger to the human fasting. For an example, the longest Fast almost of this kind ever recorded was more than 100 days, close to 120 days. So you might argue that 40 days might be only the beginning.I must point out that the most of the data gathered from observing and monitoring fasting patients is either heavily suppressed or very hard to come by, and Med Schools all over the world do not teach a YOTA on fasting. Now let me tackle some false assumptions and misunderstandings.1)Statement. Fasting wastes muscle, because you have no intake on protein. You will loose muscle if you don’t eat that long.Reality: While it is indeed true that fasting consumes a bit of proteins from skeletal and later intestinal muscles, while in the mean time the myocard does not diminish almost at all, it is a fact that in the beginning of the stages, the “seemingly apparent loss of muscles” that is witnessed is only due to the depletion of glycogen reserves in said muscles. This is not neccesarally a bad thing. I will show you why. Allmost 1 third of needed aminoacids, which are the base for protein building and what you truly need, when everyone talks about protein, not the protein itself. are available in a eating individual from the recycling of cells that happens every day. This type of recycling is exacerbated to the maximum in a fasted individual, there is more recycling being done that the body could have ever managed in an eating state. So you would have a very good chunck of Aminoacids ready to be used where there are needed. Then there is the next thing. Most individual fasting are or fell very tired, as the body adapts to these new conditions. Thus probably movement of any kind, is, if possible kept to a minimum. Minimum movement leads in a natural way to muscle depreciation. This is a known rule. You don’t use it, you loose it. This doesn’t mean however that you cannot use your muscles and do heavy stuff that places strain on them. However, during fasting, the EXTRAORDINARALY occurs. One seems to have “more strength” which is by the way always the case. If before the fast you could do 10 pushups, now you find you can do 20 or more with so much ease that you are having time to believe it. IF you could doo 10 pullups you can do 20 now very easily. So the statement that “you are going to loose muscle if you fast for that long” looses rapidly its relevance, because what you observe is a gain of strength. Most men can understand eating to get strong. But it takes a long time to educate them to stop eating to get strong.2)Statement “You would do a lot better doing juice fast. Why? Less muscle loss”Answer. No you wouldn’t. You would do better doing a complete Fast. “Less muscle loss” is for the gullible.3)Statement “The consequence of a 40 day water fast for weight loss will not be pretty. The metabolic consequences of not eating any essential amino acids for 40 days - and relying on catabolizing your own protein for these essential amino acids is that you will lose a signNow amount of muscle mass. Because you can not synthesize essential amino acids, when you run through your body’s stores you will become very sick and you may die”That is PURE bullshit right there.4)Statement “You would die.The human body is NOT designed to starve for 40 days, surviving on water alone.”Not only is this pure Bulsshit of the highest order, the statement “isnt even wrong™”.https://rationalwiki.org/wiki/No...Not only you would not die, you would thrive while fasting. The human body IS in fact designed to – and the word used here, starving is completely misplaced, as no starving occurs – survive for 40 day. It has all the built in mechanisms to do so.The further statement “You should schedule an emergency visit with your doctor or mental health professional. I am not saying this to be harsh; I am urging you to get help, immediately. Do not wait.” It only shows and advanced and allmost uncurable state of chronic ignorance. Don’t fall for it.5)Statement “If you want to do a 40 day water fast please consult your doctor that it's safe to do so.You will need to consume vitamins, minerals and perhaps some amino acids in addition to stay healthy. After consulting with your doctor you will want to consult with a nutritionist for the specific “cocktail” you will need to take. Beyond that you will want to meet with your doctor regularly in this 40 day window to make sure your vital signs are ok.”This makes me facepalm ad infinitum and really show the lack of education and general understanding people have regarding how nature really functions. No, you do not need to consult your doctor, no you do not need to consume vitamins, minerals, and aminoacids. No you don’t need to consume a special cocktail, and no you do not need to visit your doctor regularly in this 40 day window to stress the poor bastard out of his wits, to check for you vital signs. What you need to do is EDUCATE yourself. No one can do that for you. Knowledge is Power. Lack of knowledge is dependancy, and allmost always leads to loosing time and money while you get nothing in return. If you trully want to learn more, you must read this hidden gem written in 1934. Knowledge regarding fasting is old as allmost the human society itself. You cant reinvent what was allready there. Only rediscover it.Happy reading.http://www.loveandtruth.net/shel...

What should Indians learn from the rest of the world?
Stop blaming everything on 'western culture'. And stop following things mindlessly in the name of tradition. From homosexuality to obesity, from rapes to the growing divorce rates, western culture is conveniently held responsible, while the truth is far from it.Divorce is not a taboo! It's better to separate and save yourself from mental anguish than live your life with someone you dont love.Rapes in India happen not because of watching porn, but because of lack of consequences for the rapists.Homosexuality is not an illness. It is not due to 'western influence'. I'm surprised at how many educated and upper class Indians think this way. Please go on a vaction to check out the Ajanta Ellora caves and read about Lord Aiyyapa (born from the union of Shiva and Vishnu).Women on their period become untouchable and impure all of a sudden. I understand this is more to do with religion than the culture. But I am surprised by the myths surrounding it. My house help was afraid of watering the plants as she was brought up to believe that watering them during one's period would cause them to wilt. All this takes place blindly in the name of tradition, and questioning it is equated with arrogance.Another thing I would like to change in India is the habit of groupism. During my school days, our friends consisted of people from varied religions and states. That was not even a criteria for choosing friends. But when I started college, I noticed a huge north-south divide, and groupism based on languages. The gujratis would hang out with other gujratis, and the telugites would form their own group, so would the tamilians and bengalis. Me being a mixed breed, I found this very funny. I belonged nowhere, or everywhere. I understand that there is some comfort attached to ones native tongue, but making this a criteria for choosing friends is a move against growth. Free yourself from these boundaries and explore. There is so much we can learn from other cultures.

If I want to buy a baby wolf and raise it, will it be friendly to me and would it be like a dog?
Warning. Very long post.NO!!!!! Don't do it. Never, ever, never. I'd swear some but I think you get the point. I owned a timber wolf once. Named him Meiko, after the Disney movie, Pocahontas. And he was an amazing, powerful, deadly, loving creature. BUT NOT A DOG. If someone gave me another I would really have to think about it. Amazing creature, most efficient killing machine I have ever watched. Silent, stealthy, tiptoe through the tulips-literally!I didn't realize the needs he had, looks like a dog right? WRONG. Doesn't even look like dog if you open your eyes. Taller, longer, big head, long tail. I'm 6′6″ tall. He would stand up, put his paws on my shoulders and lick my face. I did not bend over for him to do that. I would go to Wal-Mart and buy him kiddy pools -the 8′ model, two or three a year. Why so many? Cause he liked to drag them with his teeth - full of water. Not a couple of inches I mean full - 8 to 10 inches.I originally tried to keep him in the house. Until one night my first wife and I woke to this loud thud. Half minute later another thud, for a few minutes. Ok what the hell is that. When I found him, I watched him repeat his process over and over. He was about 3 months old. He had nails about as good as a cat. He was climbing a recliner onto the seat then up the back. Once on top he would launch himself at a 10 foot window - thud, over and over. So we decided he needed to live outside, which he did like. While his outdoor life suited him better, what I could provide was not ideal for him. I got him a house and he lived on a 100 foot cable trolley run. Until he proved he just could not stay untangled, and tried to chew his foot off. Fortunately my mother found him and got him undone, but not before she was badly bitten. Ever try to help a wounded animal? They think you’re trying to kill them. So he got a shorter single piece cable 21′ which gave him a 40' circle. This is no life for a wolf. So now he has little room to move - got to get him some exercise. Get the golf cart and leash, take him for a run. Wasn't fast enough, he would pull my arm off. Ok let's try a car. This works out pretty good. Thankfully, I live on a quiet road with my name on it. I can drive down the wrong side with my arm out the window holding the leash, so he could run in the grass. Every day twice a day, half a mile turn around at my sister's come back. In cool weather we could do 1.5 mile. The first half mile was always sketchy, 20 to 25 mph. The fastest he ever ran was 28. Even then he still had a little more cause he still kept tension on the leash. The return trip was slow cause you had to stop and smell.Food, lots of food. Special food that we could only get through a farm Purina dealer. And meat. Steaks, chickens, pork, he didn't care, just not fish. Oh and woodchuck, he loved woodchuck. But it had to be 15 minute fresh. If you hit a woodchuck with your vehicle within 15 minutes of home he would eat it. Any older he would let it rot. Wouldn't touch a squirrel but he loved to kill opossum, and cats. Never hurt the cats he grew up with, but every time his cable broke, first place to look was at the neighbors farm cleaning up cats. I think he would actually bury his dog food to attract other animals so he could kill them. I can't count the possums, woodchuck, 3 skunks and he never got sprayed, and a zillion rats. Very stealthy creature. Like I said most efficient killing machine I've ever watched. We tried a bunch of different food bowls, eventually settled into a hard plastic about ten inch, which he would destroy over time or bury, so we always had three in rotation. And a 3.5 gallon galvanized metal water bucket. Which he would try to kill. I found marks in them from his teeth. I'm not kidding - literally dent the metal.Dog house and cable. Had a friend that had this huge dog house for 5 Rottweilers. They died off so it was empty, so Meiko inherited it. 10′ x 16'. 4 foot wall with peaked 7 foot roof. Took 6 bails of straw to fill it right, twice a year. Unfortunately he liked to live under it more than in it. He would also use the roof as a step to get on top of the shipping container which was right against his house. Every year he would break two cables. 5/16″ stainless cable, tried a bunch of different latches. He would do one of three things. Either get a loop in the cable and kink it, which then over time would break. Or break the latch. Or during the winter, sleep on it just right - it would freeze open and fall off. Learned to always have a spare cable.Snow. He loved the snow. I would plow all the snow I could right into his circle. He loved it. Gave him mountains to climb and dig in. When there was enough snow he slept in caves he dug. And then you get the brilliant idea, Hey I've got a sled dog, let's try this. So you go get a plastic sled. And get him on his leash. And he pulls an inch and the sled makes that typical noise, and you take off like all hell. Only problem is he is scared to death, and you’ve gone nowhere. Cause he is going around in a circle. Fast, wicked fast, totaled distance actually moved 5 feet.So you wake up and your killing machine is gone, great. Or someone calls you at work. Hey I just saw Meiko go by, great. Or the farmer calls and says he is after the cats, great. Ever try to catch something that has been training to run 25 mph and can pull a kiddy pool full of water? Ya, that’s fun. Especially after the corn or wheat is 3' tall. Then you can't see him. Funny thing is he can't see either. So he starts to jump, over the crop so he can see. You eventually decide the best thing to do is give him 45 minutes to burn out. Then find him. And make sure he sees you. And sit down right there. Don't chase, that's a game. And he can do it for miles. Nope as long as he's seen you just sit down. He'll come and crawl and crawl. Until you can get a hold of his collar and get a leash on him.Eyesight. Again has to do with killing machine. If I woke up in the morning and was very careful and quiet. I could get downstairs and to our backdoor without him noticing me. Then if I stood perfectly still he couldn't see me. So I could watch him act naturally. Cause the second he saw me he would quit doing whatever it was and be ready for breakfast. But wolves have this neat trick. If they can't see movement but think or smell something is there, they bob their head to make a false movement. This causes the shadows to change and then they can see you. Or their prey. It's pretty Jurassic parkish. Kind of freaky when he was loose and would mix this in with stealth.Respect. He only ever respected 2 people. Me and my mother. Either of us could do anything with him. Walk in his circle, feed him, walk him, even the simple act of putting him on a leash was a dangerous act if you weren't us. Inside my mother's house, not mine, just my mom's, just about anyone could touch him - that he allowed. If he didn't allow you were in trouble. On his cable, stay out, don't try it, you were gonna get bit. Only two people allowed in the circle. No one else. And nothing to be left in his circle either, unless you wanted it destroyed. Had a couple living with me. One day the guy leaves his car in the circle. I say you better move that. “Oh it will be fine”. Ok whatever. 15 minutes later the Wolf is on the hood ripping off the windshield wipers. He actually bent the metal arms. Another friend parks his truck in the circle - same guy that went with me to pick him up when I bought him. Again you better move that, nope, ok. 20 minutes later we’re inside, horn going off in the driveway. Meiko jumped through the open window, shredded the seat, got caught up in the steering wheel. And was stepping on the horn.Furniture. Don't give them furniture or beds. They think the springs are mice.Second wife and son. First thing he did was piss on her stuff when he got in the house. Friendly to her when inside, but no touch when out. Never trusted him very far with my son, but never saw any aggression toward him either.Veterinarian. That's a fun memory. He loved car rides. Hated the vet. Took a couple tries but we developed a method. Vet would get everything ready, clear all appointments, I would walk him in, across the scale into the room. Vet would stick head in, ask if I was ready. Yep, game on. Since the animal trusted me I had about 5 seconds to tackle him. If I took too long he could see the action and become wary. And I would tackle him and the vet would poke, prod, and stab whatever was necessary. He would declare he was done. Everyone would clear the room. I had less time to move in a particular way to avoid the teeth than when I originally tackled him. One time vet forgot to tell me about his vacation. So we had a second vet that worked there but never saw the process. I asked are you ready? She said yes. I tackled him. And she just stood there. I said aren't you going to work. Nope, she didn't do anything. I don't know if she was scared or pissed, but we never saw her again.Would I ever do it again. I've got to say I probably would. IF I HAD THE MONEY, LOTS OF MONEY. I burned his house when he died, so I would need a new one. That’s an easy $1000, and I would probably get a pre-made Amish shed. So more like $2500. Land, I still own the land so good there. But if you don't, you need a minimum of 5 acres, 10 would be better. Especially if you don't own the road. And no more cable. 12' of chain link fence on all 10 acres. With a bent back top. And a rock ditch so he couldn't dig under it. I own the equipment to build it. The materials would still cost me 30,000. And I'd have to really research a vet. I would need full notification of their vacations, and who their backup is. Also you need to find out if you need an agriculture permit to have a non pet animal. I got around that detail, but wouldn't go that way again. In the permit area you also need a relationship with your dog control officer, and knowing a game warden wouldn't hurt either. This is so that if either of them show up for a complaint against your animal they won't try to catch it. Just monitor and call you. And that they won't shoot it unless things are getting really bad. I had a lot of these things in place the first time because of who my mother is. She is the town clerk where we live, and thus responsible for dog licenses, and hunting licenses. Everyone knew us, everyone knew my “dog”, MeikoOur lab Tiger, my sister's good boxer Duke, and Meiko.

How did photographers touch up photographs before the invention of signNow Photoshop?
I can tell you exactly how photographs were retouched the day before signNow Photoshop was introduced, because I was there.During the 1980's I was a color separator. That is a job where one turns photographs into the film used to make printing plates for full color printing. I can tell you that in the years leading up to the introduction of Photoshop, photographers rarely, if ever, retouched photographs. There was an entire career for retouch artists, just as there was for color separators who were either cameramen or scanner operators. While I sometimes used a graphic arts camera (these were huge beasts, 2 room affairs where the lights, lens, bellows and copy board were in one room, and the vacuum board (for holding film) and ground glass (for focusing) were in another room, my forte was working with color scanners. A photographer's job was to produce an image that needed no retouching. When it did, typically an oversize print was made (at least twice the size needed for the final reproduction) and it would be airbrushed to perfection, then color separated for the printing plates. Color scanners were the most advanced pieces of equipment in the printing industry. A journeyman color separator earned as much as a journeyman 4 color pressman. While they were not used for photo retouching, they could shift colors and alter tones through the means of an analog computer. In other words, light was converted into an electrical signal that could then be manipulated with a matrix of potentiometers (volume controls) before sending the signal to a laser that exposed film for the color separations. Then the digital retouch workstations were introduced. We started seeing pictures of them in the graphic arts magazines. Attractive women standing next to computer towers while handsome men sat at workstations. The first three companies to introduce digital retouch workstations were Hell from Germany, Crossfield from Great Britain and Scitex from Israel. While Hell and Crossfield were both scanner manufacturers, Scitex began as a system for visually creating programs to run textile weaving machines. Running on minicomputers, including those from HP and DEC, these companies dominated the digital retouch world until they were unseated by signNow Photoshop during the 1990's.signNow acquired Photoshop from its author, Tom Knoll, around 1989. Steve Guttman was made the product manager, and together with Tom's brother John who was the "idea engine" behind Tom's code, they hit the road to promote this new product. One promotion tour was a breakfast at The Computer Museum in Boston, Massachusetts. This is where I first saw Photoshop and was given a beta copy by Steve. By then I was starting up the "Desktop Publishing Department" at a Boston area prepress shop. Color scanners and retouch workstations were so expensive that few printing companies could afford them, so they would farm that work out to specialty shops. I already knew how to retouch on Scitex and Hell systems, and I was working at that particular shop because they were innovative, and I wanted to have Crossfield under my belt as well, even though that opportunity never came to pass.By 1989, virtually all images were retouched on minicomputers. The photo retouch artists had been unseated and it was a dead-end career. At first, Photoshop was a toy. You couldn't do anything practical with it, but that was not because of the software, it was because the toolset was incomplete. You still needed a color Macintosh, a way to get images into Photoshop and a way to get them out. This is before digital cameras, and back then, desktop scanners were crappy devices that had little dynamic range and poor focus. Also, it didn't help that Photoshop only worked in RGB when the printing industry was based in CMYK (4 color files instead of 3). Still, a Photoshop workstation cost $10,000 compared to $250,000 or more for a minicomputer-based system. And when you came right down to it, Photoshop's tools were better, more creative. When we had meetings with the Scitex team and I told them about the potential of using Photoshop for color retouch on a Macintosh, they scoffed and dismissed me. They could see every reason why Photoshop was no threat. Because I was curious, I managed to figure out a way to get images from the Crossfield's PDP 11 hard drive into Photoshop going through a 9 track tape drive hooked to the Mac's scsi port. I could also use the same tape drive to get the images back to the Crossfield, and then generate film separations and a proof print. My intermediate software was Photoshop's main competitor, ColorStudio. That's right. Photoshop was not the only game in town. ColorStudio was, in some ways, a superior program. It handled CMYK and had vector drawing features similar to signNow Illustrator built in. But it crashed incessantly and was not as fast, which I believe is why Photoshop was the winner. Fractal's founders, Mark Zimmer and Tom Hedges, asked their marketing agency to get a group of us together to get our opinions on what it would take to beat Photoshop. Based somewhat on the result of that meeting, Fractal pivoted and ColorStudio became Fractal Painter. One day, I took a photograph of a golf club for an ad we were producing and used Photoshop to retouch out the type on the club's shaft. I then output it and pulled a proof along with a proof of the original. These were before and after images. I then showed them to a Scitex salseman and asked him to compare the images. He said, "so what?" I said, "I did this in Photoshop." His mouth fell open. That was the moment he realized that the threat of desktop publishing was quite real.It took a several years for Photoshop to take hold in the graphic arts industry. Scitex quietly invested in a start-up called The Color Center where we taught printing industry professionals how to integrate Macintosh computers and Photoshop into their workflows. Kodak opened The Center for Creative Imaging where we taught artists and photographers how to use Macintosh computers for creative graphics. Still, it wasn't Photoshop that caused printers and prepress houses to abandon their expensive, dedicated systems. It was digital cameras.Kodak came out with the first "professional" digital camera, the Kodak DCS. It incorporated a Nikon body with a digital back and an umbilical cord that ran to a heavy shoulder pack containing a bank of batteries and a hard drive. The resolution wasn't very high, around 1,024 x 768, if my memory serves. Priced at $27,000, they didn't sell very many. Soon, Apple, Canon, and others were producing consumer-grade digital cameras, but they still didn't matter much, because the quality was on par with crappy desktop scanners. The better option at that point was to shoot 35mm transparencies and send them off to a Kodak PhotoCD lab, where they used a high-speed scanner they developed as the analog to film processing to digitize and store your images in high resolution on a CD disc for about $1 per image. This gave early-adopters a way to skip the expensive color scanning process, which typically cost $35 for a minimum scan ( 2" x 3" or so). It worked out great for magazine and catalog producers. There were specialized desktop scanners by then that produced high quality images, but when Canon and Nikon started producing digital SLRs that used high-end lenses, the barrier to achieving quality for the masses was eliminated, the need for color separation scanners vanished, and the expensive workstations that were tied to them could now be replaced by Macintosh workstations. PhotoCD was short-lived because the entire industry moved to digital photography in a few short years. There was one more advancement that was tied to Photoshop's success, and that was the development of signNow Type Manager. Before ATM, producing quality typography was difficult to achieve because type displayed on the screen was bit-mapped. That meant big type looked like it was made of stacked legos. ATM solved the problem by rendering type on the screen from the postscript vector data, allowing type to be displayed in fine detail at any resolution and made it possible for designers to create their own typesetting. With the ability to set their own type and digital photography for creating their own digital photos, the promise of desktop publishing finally gave them a means to produce complete layouts with type, art, and photos.Photoshop became the de facto standard in image retouch, and combined with software from signNow, Aldus, and Quark, desktop publishing software displaced retouch artists, cameramen, film strippers, typesetters, paste-up artists, and probably several others that don't come to mind at the moment. Desktop publishing shifted the production work to the creatives rather than production specialists. There was some pretty ugly printing for a few years, but eventually, creatives became just as good at producing press-ready layouts as all of the specialists they replaced. Other retouch programs have come and gone, new ones come along, but Photoshop is the reigning king. Here's a neat video where Tom Knoll, John Knoll, Steve Guttman and Russell Brown (signNow Photoshop Product Evangelist) talk about the beginnings of Photoshop.

When a person with BPD withdraws & shuts down communication, what are they hoping to achieve & are they even aware of how hurtfu
In my experience of people with the quiet presentation of BPD who are more flight than fight when they feel stressed withdrawal is common. I understand that sometimes this follows something the pwBPD perceives as negative and they are angry but also if you’re very close and things are going well they can withdraw and go silent from fear. On the surface, this makes no sense when one minute they’re in your arms, so happy, talking about the future to not replying to you the next day, it’s odd. They don’t do well with the ebb and flow of closeness and separation in relationships because it triggers their fears. If you mean a lot to them and they are unsure if they are lovable they can withdraw because of fear of abandonment. Or if they feel you need too much for them they have to create distance from fear of engulfment. My personal experience of relationships with pwBPD the best thing to do is to give them benefit of the doubt. Don’t get angry with them or criticise them because this will only add to their pain and defensiveness. It’s a difficult one to handle especially if, like me, you really respect people’s boundaries. So if someone doesn’t reply, I leave them to reply when their ready but this doesn’t work with pwBPD they need to be rescued when they create too much distance. They have usually regressed. It’s not the sign of confident person who could quite easily respond even if it’s to say they would like some space and they will get back in touch when they’re ready. PwBPD don’t tend to do this, they just vanish with no explanation but in my experience coaxing them out gently and reassuring them that it’s safe to come out of their hiding place helps them generate trust in you that you’re not going to punish them when they can’t cope with their emotions and vanish for protection. It will happen less if they feel a bit safer with you in time but if you’re really hurting you have to think about whether the relationship is healthy for you. Unless the pwBPD is in treatment or on the pathway to healing they cannot consistently meet your needs because their needs are too great and they will have to put their needs first because their strong emotions often overwhelm logic and self control. If they are untreated you have to ask yourself what in you and your history is driving you to stay in that situation. It’s much harder to build trust with pwBPD, if you want to stay in the relationship you need to be very patient and don’t be too hard on them for this.
