okay so you have this customer open here and this is an open invoice that has not been paid so they've made a partial payment so we pull it up and we create a new line here payment partial payment and um let's see not the rate we're going to go right over here to the amount and let's say they paid 750 dollars so it shows up as a negative and it brings the total to 375. now you save and close yes and when you pull it up again it's showing this as the total balance due 375 so you can then email it to them oh i'm in a sample company file so but you would just go ahead and email it to them and they would see this this is not a very preferred way of doing accounting however because you're changing a historical document the best way to do it is to send a statement showing payments made but if you insist on having it in an invoice this is how you do it oh and then another step because you've entered this payment here it's now in you have to go to make deposits and see it's right here so you have to still go to this screen because if you use that screen in the invoice instead of going to the uh receive payments you don't do this one that's what the other one is now doing but you still need to deposit it whether it went into checking you know if it was grouped with other checks or not so you need to complete the process there all right i hope that helps
