What is the biggest scam you’ve ever seen?
Personally? I have two.I used to work for a Home Depot store. I sold lumber and building materials, which means insulation, drywall, roofing, fencing, ladders and masonry products. Quite a bit of my business was in special-order products. We sold a customer two pallets of special order shingles. We had never sold this model of shingle to anyone before. The manufacturer brought them to us on Friday and we called the customer. “My contractor will be there on Monday.”On Saturday, someone showed up in the returns line with a bundle of these shingles. “I bought these and don’t need them, so I bro...

What are common scams in India?
Common Scams in India:Scene 1: Aadhar mobile number update:Went to a private Aadhar e-seva kendra, filled form and was ready to submit. Assumed it’s going to be nominal charges for same. Lady said 300rs. I said bye bye.Went to e-seva kendra. This time all done. Lady asked for 50rs. I said I know its 25rs.She said “Sir we have to pay rent as well.”I said “As you are asking very less compared to others I will pay 50rs.”Felt bad about it later. Complained to UIDAI via twitter. Got reply that they will register an official complain and take necessary action. In addition to this its very common that these e-seva center charge anything between 100–300rs for new Aadhar registration(should be completely free) or update(nominal charge of 25rs). Saw it happening in one instance, raised my voice but no one supported. Seems everyone else was just wanted to get their work done and I was creating a nuisance.Scene 2: Mobile number portability:Went to Idea store. With commanding voice, I said “I am here for MNP”, as I was giving them a new customer. Got reply from lady “minimum recharge of 475rs will be needed for MNP”. I said “MNP charge is 19rs, what recharge I do after that is my choice”. But this lead to nothing. Left the store.Visited a local idea retailer. Inquired about MNP and he said 178rs minimum recharge. Didn’t want to argue again. Paid the money and left for home. Felt bad again, later complained to idea_cellular and TRAI via twitter. Still to receive a response.Even for mobile and Aadhar linking some retailers charge money, its supposed to be completely free.Scene 3: Flash Back - Last monthHad a bad mood and my train was about to leave. Thought some water could help. Went to stall and asked for two water bottles. Vendor asked for 40rs(20rs per bottle, MRP was 15rs). I became furious and scolded him left and right. Got my money back (10rs). Complained to local DRM via twitter. Got response that action will be taken and immediate fine of 500rs is charged to vendor. You see what I am trying to say, here in our country(not only our country) people always find a way to dig out money or more money by this means or another, many are aware of it but many just ignore it. I know I can’t be idealistic all the time but it disturbs me seeing people’s common lust for money around me.Call it a scam or whatever, but it’s part of our life, it’s more of a mindset and reflection of our ideologies. We might accept it, ignore it or fight against it.Sometimes it seems like endless cycle, because “We the people” always find innovative ways to scam each other.Take Care.PS. Purpose of this answer not to brag, but to make aware. What you do after that is up to you.****Made few corrections, Thanks for views, comments and upvotes, If this helps even 1% of who read, my effort was worth of something.********Corrected Aadhaar update charges as 25rs, uidai official twitter handle communicated 25+taxes hence the confusion. I would like to thank all who appreciated me in comments. Still you see I was not perfect during handling these situations, hoping to get better with that.********Update: Idea care responded, got call from manager of said idea store, he apologised and asked me to visit again. He said there are no charges for mnp and recharge is optional. I told him to mention this everytime time any customer comes for mnp rather then projecting a mandatory recharge. Also asked to make sure his team members follow that. I said I or any of my friends will be visiting store anytime and will complain again if same incident happens. Hope this is some kind of win.Got update regarding e-seva kendra complaint as well. “Fine is imposed and warning is issued.” Couldn't check personally but this is official reply.****

What are the most common scams in anything?
Have you ever heard about club memberships? If No read below. If Yes, still, please read below for my experience.Few months back, I visited one of the shopping mall in Hyderabad where a Lady approached and asked me to fill a form with my phone number for a Lottery promotion they are conducting. I gave my details just with an ignorance that winning a lottery was never in my history. After two days, I received a call from them saying that I'm one of the Luckiest winners of their club completing 25 years of celebration and they asked me to visit their office in Begumpet, Hyderabad. The key point here is that they begged/requested/forced me to come with my dependent only. With a little suspicion I went to their place and inquired watchman about it. He confirmed that it's a good place and people will come here to collect the prize money (or) Gifts. Well trained. (If you want a trusted person to guard your treasury, I can recommend this watchman). We called the particular associate from whom we received the call. He accompanied us to the main building and at the reception we saw someone arguing with them. I just ignored him and moved ahead. We moved to the main hall area where there were few other couples already seated. Then, they announced that there is a small presentation session after which the gifts will distributed to the lucky lottery winners. They moved us to another room where some music from the speakers with medium sound (You can’t hear others talks) and asked us to sit. Here all the couples are separated with an agent assigned to them individually. The initial discussions are about our background, hobbies and interest about tours. Later they started discussing about their offers which is valid only for that day and with below listed benefits.-> 25%-50% discounts on International and Domestic flight journeys from their club web portal.-> Free Hotel accommodation. National/International for 7 days in a year with pickup/drop from airport/hotel.-> Access to the club where we can use Gym/Pool/Games/Function Hall usage with no additional costs.-> 1 Night/2 Day trip to Ramoji Film City.and some other what-not benefits which I didn't remember now. Beyond all, The tempting offer for anyone is 200 Sq yards Land registration on your dependent (wife) Name Near to Shamshabad Airport. The team had very good communication skills and trained well to do your brainwash and won't give you enough time to do a market research or check reviews about them. After the presentation (brain wash) session, they told us that the cost of membership is 2 Lakh rupees which shocked me a moment because till that minute I never heard about such clubs existence or membership costs. The immediate minute I said NO to them and they started convincing me and my Wife who is more tempted for Land proposal. Of-course it's on her name. In another 30 minutes, she became a weapon for them against me and started convincing me along with them. Finally I started bargaining and for which They came down to 1.6 Lacs. Now the payment drama:Me-> I told them that I do not have that much money in my hand or account as I'm an poor typical middle class software employee. I'm working in TCS during that period.They-> They said that I can pay with my credit card and if I don’t have a limit they can help me in getting a new credit card from HDFC agent and later I can convert that amount into EMI. What a solution, They locked me here. (If you want to commit suicide, HDFC will give loan to buy poison bottle).Me-> I told them I just came simply by keeping some small notes in my pocket w/o any cards.They-> They smiled at me. (Looks like they expected this statement from me and had experienced in dealing with the such priority bakra customers like me). They sent one of their agent along with POS machine to my home on his bike following mine. After we signNowed home, I swiped my ICICI credit card for 60k, signed the agreements and for remaining amount I called the HDFC agent. They didn’t given me the agreement copies because of the remaining amount neither provided enough time to read them before the payment. We went to their place around 11 AM and completed this transactions and all the stuff by around 3 PM and moved out for a little shopping and left the city for almost an week on a family trip.Once I’m back from vacation, My HDFC card is ready and I'm almost prepared to pay the remaining 1 Lac. I also got my membership cards.God helped me here. I always had this habit of registering online for everything. So, after the cards, I logged into this club portal, registered myself and moved ahead to the flights reservation section where I do not see any such options or discounts mentioned by the sales team. It is also redirected me to makemytrip website where it shouted me for the full price. This started me to check in depth about them and there are thousands of consumer complaints on them on the same way how they cheated me. I immediately called the particular sales manager and shouted on him for which he said it's my decision to trust him or the social media comments and disconnected the call. That is the moment somehow my mind reminded me that shouting person at the reception in my first visit to their place.Next attack by the Club customer care team. I was surprised by hearing that the membership can't be cancelled (which completely opposite to what sales team said) and also they said that they are not responsible for what sales team promised to customers. They have some ethics and company policies which they must and should follow. (Wah..wah.. Babu Chitti) My mistake was that I signed on the bond papers w/o read them completely and they cleverly made my wife also signed on the documents.I done some more research in the Internet and found other people who are fighting against them by joining a whatsapp Group. Also raised an dispute request to ICICI by asking them to cancel the transaction by considering my behavior and relationship with the bank. After three months fight, I won the dispute.I received the call from that Club once they realized that the money was deducted from their accounts and started saying silly excuses and asked me to trust them again by repeating the same false promises with lesser price for the new membership. That experience made me to understand that “There is No free Lunch in the world” and started avoiding such cheap offers and writing down my mobile number everywhere.I'm still using that HDFC credit card here and there for my personal expenses. It reminds me every time how fool I'm and how precautionary I should be.And finally the Club name is COUNTRY CLUB Alias COUNTRY VACATIONS.

How have you handled situations at work where you get thrown under the bus?
Once upon a time I worked for a company where the sales team consistently and intentionally over-promised our services and product to our clients. In doing so, they regularly disappointed the clients and made my operations team look very bad. They hid their communications with the clients and constantly bad-mouthed us to them.It didn’t take long to find out, as my operations team had all come from the clients and still had numerous contacts and friends there.Early on in my time with this company, my team and I tried to assume that the issues were because the sales force was ignorant about what we did and were overly-enthusiastic about impressing the customers. So, we invited the sales team to our weekly deployment meetings and ensured that they were given access to our project timeline documents. We made it clear that the dates we gave for deliverables were indeed truly honest and accurate dates. And since they were invited to attend the weekly meetings, they would be kept apprised of any changes along the way. I believe in accurate and honest communications.Even with educating the sales team on how we worked and how to manage expectations, they continued to tell clients inaccurate things. They even went so far as to get the IT department to give them access to be able to edit the project timeline documents! They began to change our dates without notice and then tried to hold us accountable when we didn’t make the “dates”. I shit you not. After several months of this, we began to change the way we operated:We set an open invitation for the CEO and President to attend our deployment meetings. They never did, which was important later. They didn’t think it was a really big deal because the Sales VP was a huge ass kisser and downplayed us and our concerns every chance she had.We kept a written record of everything said in the meetings and who said them. We printed the meeting notes immediately after and distributed them to every attendee and invitee. We removed the read/write access the sales team had to the project database and informed the IT staff of new restrictions. We set login recordkeeping and limited the number of editors. All editors and data entry personnel were given new policy requirements they had to sign, which notified them of penalties for failing to adhere to the new regulations, up to and including termination. We required that a member of the deployment management attend all in-person sales calls with clients. We kept copied of all emails sent and received that had anything to do with the sales team. We DOCUMENTED EVERYTHING IN WRITING.We published to the client client-specific project information outside of the sales team correspondence.Needless to say, the sales team HATED us for this. After a lot of BS back and forth, we finally sandbagged them in front of the CEO in a face-to-face with their entire team, presented the altered project timeline forms, emails to the client that differed from our meeting minutes and communications with the client engineers where they questioned why our information was more accurate and timely than what the sales team was providing them.My partner and I (two of us equally ran the department) announced in no uncertain terms that should any more bullshit happen, we would be quitting immediately. The CEO and President were completely shocked by the amount of information we had collected and almost fired the VP of Sales (an absolute nightmare of a horrible person) on the spot. We provided the CEO with phone numbers to several clients who were more than willing to give him information that corroborated our position. The VP immediately threw her entire team under the bus to save her own skin and just barely stayed employed. From that moment on, she had it in for us, but could never figure out how to get away with anything. Super sweet on the outside, but we knew she wanted us dead.So to answer the question directly, document EVERYTHING. If you have a conversation with someone, send an email immediately thereafter to them, detailing the conversation and what the takeaway points and due dates were. Familiarize yourself with the company handbook, rules and regulations. Act completely properly at all times. Be aware that there will be factions and toadies that may seek to undermine you for some benefit. Documentation and clarifications will work wonders. If you believe you are being harassed or discriminated against, save copies of all communications to that effect. Note phone calls with time date, subject and caller in a notebook diary. Same with any face-to-face conversations. Again, DOCUMENT EVERYTHING. If you have an HR department, make a report. If you don’t, your state labor department is the place to go.Eventually coworkers and supervisors that try to undermine staff get what’s coming to them. Don’t get caught in the drama. If you want to know more about the VP of Sales, here’s a story about her:Sean Griffin's answer to Do you know someone who you think is capable of committing murder or have a suspicion that they may have?

Will automation kill digital marketing?
Let’s begin with the most straight-forward answer to this question: NO. Automation is not here to kill digital marketing and make something brand new!But you can say, automation is the key to a newer approach to digital marketing. Let me break it for you.Previously, the normal marketing cycle would be something like this: You get “leads”, you try to ‘remarket them to’ (i.e. influence them in any way) and then pass it to sales team. With the advent of marketing automation tools, now there are many more stages before the sales team take lead. In other words, sales conversation happen quite later in the buyer’s cycle, because marketing is more about nurturing the leads and generating genuine interest before sales conversation happen. It is more like giving your sales rep 10 quality and genuinely interested prospects to talk to than handing over 20 leads without any background check! You can put this whole thing like this: Marketing automation is a boon to digital marketers who are constantly trying to capture leads and fill the pipeline for the sales team with interested leads. Gone are the days when sales and marketing used to function separately. Because that actually incurred more business loss than you can think of. Imagine your marketing team signNowing put to prospective leads with one set of idea, promoting your business aligned to that concept and generating enough interest in that lead to go the ‘buy’ button. And then your sales rep takes over, with no idea of what your marketing people talked about. Suddenly, your sales rep tells something way different that what the lead was told prior to that conversation. End result? You lose this lead (and many more like this) making way for a huger loss. But not with an automation tool. A marketing automation tool bridges this gap between the two core teams, making it possible to nurture leads in a more personalized and relevant way. And one tool that is genuinely making a difference is Aritic PinPoint. This is a full-stack marketing automation tool catering to B2B customers. And no, it is not killing digital marketing!Let’s see how automation is leveraging digital marketing as a whole using Aritic PinPoint as a reference here:Marketing has become customer-centric. It is all about what you customers want, how they want, and when. To be honest, its more like dishing out the right information at the right time to the right lead.Aritic PinPoint has intuitive landing pages, option to add gated videos, and enables progressive profiling which makes quality lead capturing much more seamless. (I am talking about Organic Leads here). Gated video ensures you capture lead information from those genuinely interested in your video content. You manage to trigger enough interest to urge them to fill a quick form to continue accessing that content piece. On the other hand, progressive profiling is about asking questions that are related to your leads’ interests and demands. With dynamic contact list segmentation, Aritic PinPoint buckets your leads according to their demographics, website and app behaviour, buyer’s stage, and events. This simplifies your digital marketing efforts because you can now run targeted campaigns that will give you more optimum results.Whenever I used to discuss about digital marketing, I found people more inclined towards email marketing. So, here’s how automation is improving your email campaigns. I’ve already told you about lead segmentation. Aritic PinPoint allows you to design your own email templates that are device responsive. You can create and schedule automated drip campaigns based on your lead behaviour. Add to that, automated email workflow designing makes the task much more easier. Then comes the autoresponders for repetitive emails, and re-engagement emails for those leads who were once active but now they somehow lost interest. If you’ve noticed so far, all the automation features are customer-centric and behaviour-based.Digital marketing inevidently alludes to social media marketing. True. And Aritic PinPoint clearly has it included. You see, we’ve come past the time when we could focus on just one channel or require multiple people for each digital channel. Aritic PinPoint offers multi-channel marketing approach wherein you can connect with your leads and customers via SMS campaigns, landing pages, targeted drip push notifications, emails, and social media channels. You can create all these campaigns using the easy campaign builder on Aritic PinPoint. Here’s how a drip push notification campaign looks like:Next comes the gap bridging between sales and marketing. Features like lead behaviour tracking, lead source tracking, and lead scoring helps in creating a buyer’s persona and also spot the potential leads. With lead behaviour tracking, it is possible to understand the buying pattern of a lead, and by assigning score to each lead (including minus scores) you can know which are the most active leads. Most active leads = most interested leads.Backed with buyer’s purchasing details and browsing history, your sales rep can have a clear idea what will convince that lead the most. This means your sales rep talks to those leads who are genuinely interested, thereby increasing the conversion rates. (Yes, Aritic PinPoint has all these features). There’s so much more to Aritic PinPoint automation tool than these, especially the enterprise exclusive features like dedicated account manager, role-based access control, data security, single sign-on, and more. Other features include dynamic content, mobile marketing, detailed analytics and reports, and account-based marketing.Lastly, Aritic PinPoint has a wide range of integrations with various popular CMS, CRMs, websites and apps, social media platforms, and plugins.Automation is neither killing nor replacing digital marketing. If you are not yet convinced, try taking a demo of Aritic PinPoint or create a free account and experience the new-age marketing.Hope this helps :)

What's a typical price increase I can expect when renewing my SaaS subscriptions?
Let’s first start with Salesforce. Salesforce is the #1 SaaS company in the world by revenues and market cap. So that’s always a good place to start. In Salesforce’s current form contract, or Master Services Agreement, they bake in a 7% price increase each year. https://www.salesforce.com/conte...As a customer of SaaS, this does make my blood boil a bit. You’re going to raise prices 7% every year, for the exact same software that costs you like $0.06 a month to serve up to me?But obviously, Salesforce knows the real-world churn impact will be low, and any ability to get this stick at their scale will be huge.Even here though, bear in mind, this is a bit of a game. First, part of the real goal here is to get customers to do 3+ year contracts. A rep can often guarantee you no pricing increases if they sign a 3 year contract. You may be able to pull this off too, with very large customers. They are familiar with the trade-off and may be fine with it. It’s a great way as a start-up to get 3 years of cash up-front from a subset of enterprise customers (i.e., guaranteeing no price increases for that 3 year term). Also, built-in price increases allow a form of implicit discounting by the company/AE waiving this instead of adding an actual discount to list pricing. “Sorry, I can’t discount any further, but I can waive the 7% annual pricing increases if you can sign THIS WEEK!”But that doesn’t mean you should do this. You aren’t #1 in the world like Salesforce. Not yet.My best practices:At least when you are smaller, guarantee pricing for 3 years, and let customers know that. That’s fair.Grandfather in your first customers’ pricing through $1m-$2m ARR or so and just let it go. Yes, some of your early customers will get an amazing deal — viewed through the lens of time later. But you shook hands on a fair deal, and they bet on you. Maybe never raise their prices. Or if you do, only do it if they upgrade to a new edition. Take care of your #1 advocates. They will be a very small cohort of your revenue over time, your early adopters. They are often your fiercest advocates for decades.Once you have a big brand and are at $30m-$40m+ ARR, revisit it all. Then it becomes less about closing every customer and less about even logos, and more about maximizing revenue per lead and per customer. But maybe wait to enter this phase for longer than your sales team wants you to.

What is the most bizarre thing a coworker has done to get fired?
What is the most bizarre thing a coworker has done to get fired? He played a joke that ended up in his termination, federal charges, and deportation from the United States. This was the explosive .COM era in the late 1990s where anyone with an idea based in technology could get millions of dollars in venture capital. We worked for a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) internet provider that had gone global while still private. What are some growth hacks for B2B saas companies?
I am NOT surprised that no other answer tackled referral marketing as a technique to grow a B2B. Most think that referral marketing is strictly for B2C. It’s not the case. If properly designed a B2B referral marketing campaign must target that individual responsible in a particular business to decide whether to procure your product/service.Word of mouth or referral marketing is when you entice your existing customers to signNow out and refer other customers in exchange for a lovely reward. Referrals can be done through social media such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, through chat apps such as WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger and by email invites. Such engagement will create a warm community around your startup that will nurture future leads until they eventually buy from you.How will your referrers share your startup? They will do it via what we call the share screen. The following is a list of top three referral marketing techniques that we at EarlyParrot recommend to our clients.Strategy #1: Reward Stacking to help in customer acquisition and retentionThe main purpose of any referral marketing campaign is to acquire new users/customers. But if played well, a referral strategy can help in both acquiring and also retaining existing users. These rewards were attractive enough to make Dropbox go viral. But that was not the only benefit Dropbox got out of it. Owning an upgraded Dropbox account, with plenty of bonus storage space for referring several users to Dropbox, offers plenty of reasons why one will stay using Dropbox and will not switch to a competing service. When designing a referral marketing campaign, make sure that the rewards you give out are stackable. Stacking rewards will keep making it attractive to refer more and more friends but will also help in drastically reducing churn, building a resilient user base that will not switch to a competing service that might come along in the future.Strategy #2: Invite your past users, especially in-active onesGive them a reason to return. The fact that in the past they used your service means that they saw value in what you are offering. The fact that they are not paying customers any more does not mean they cannot value the potential that you are offering, but it might be they need a touch base, a gentle and subtle reminder about your service.Your referral campaign can be a quick touch base to invite them back to your startup, telling them about new developments whilst they have been away and lure them into becoming active by referring their friends in exchange for a reward. Your past users are a good start to get your referral marketing campaign cranking.Strategy #3: Referrals integrated within your StartupHaving a logged in area offers a huge opportunity to pitch your referral program at different stages in the customer lifecycle. Think of how SaaS like Hotjar and Dropbox integrated their referral campaign within their onboarding or else as a feature into their SaaS.By adding a prominent CTA (Click Through Action), clearly visible from most screens, will highly increase your chances of getting your SaaS users interested in your referral campaign. Alternatively, you can also pitch your referral program to your SaaS users at different stages such as:Onboarding: by inviting your newly acquired SaaS user to invite their friends in exchange for a rewardWhen hitting a limit: offer refer a friend as a means of extending their trial or increasing their freemium limit.Deeply integrating your referral marketing campaign into your SaaS will drastically increase your conversions. SaaS such as Dropbox gave so much prominence to referrals that when hitting a storage limit, they ask to either upgrade or else refer a friend. When creating a referral marketing campaign, the following are 7 checks you have to do in order to make sure your campaign is successful.Integrated into your user flow: Make sure your referral marketing campaign is tightly integrated into your startup. Don’t just implement a referral marketing campaign which requires your users to sign up again for it. Automatically generate a unique referral link and clearly show it to your users. Any successful referral marketing campaign was tightly integrated and tied in meaningful milestones to a reward. Eg. new sign-up or new sign-up and achieve a certain level in their profile, or newly paid sign-up.Right after the AHA: Do not just bombard all users to get your referrals. It won’t work and you will annoy genuine people who might just want to become your customers. Ask for referrals only after your users have experienced the AHA moment. At that point, your users would have experienced the value of your startup. From that point onwards, it is the right time to ask for referralsBrandability / Seamless flow: Do not go for platforms that do not allow you to totally brand your referral campaign. Make sure you can brand your emails, your pages and make sure emails go out from your domain. Platforms that enforce Powered by links or any kind of promotion to their platform, OR do not allow you to fully customize your campaign according to your needs should be out your sight.Offer attractive rewards / stackable rewards: Let your referrers stack rewards. Make them post their referral links everywhere and chase their referrals to join your startup so as to get more rewards/benefits. Your referrers should be rewarded in direct proportion to how much referrals they get - at least up to a certain limit.Tie in rewards to an account - non-transferable: Once a referrer achieves a certain status in your startup, eg stacked several rewards, make sure you don’t allow them to transfer them to another account. Also, make sure you tight in those rewards to that paid account. Closing that particular account should automatically disqualify them from benefiting from the rewards. Such a clause will cut your churn (on referrer accounts) by at least x4. Why? As no one would like to let go of an upgraded accountDon’t be afraid to ask for referrals - Ask often: most customers we consult for are almost afraid of asking for referrals. Keep in mind that happy customers are happy to share a good working startup. They will feel smart when referring a good working solution to their friends & colleagues. And heyyy, keep in mind they are getting rewarded for it.Double-Sided - Reward both referral and referrer: If you want to make it easier for your referrers to share your startup and if you want conversions to skyrocket make sure you make it interesting for both referrers and referrals.

Trump Jr. also sent the email after news broke that former acting Attorney General Sally Yates had alerted the White House that Flynn might have lied about discussing sanctions with then-Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
The White House, which initially said that Trump didn't know any details about Flynn until he learned about it later — then said that the president only found out about them through media reports — has faced questions about why Trump's son was seeking to establish communications with the Russian government in the first place.
In a series of tweets, Trump Jr. denied that he and others had received the emails, and called the Times story "a COMPLETE and TOTAL FABRICATION" of his meeting. He said the Times' "fictional account" was "100% made up."
