[Music] hey everyone this is bridget with host agency reviews and today I'm going to be showing you our host agency commission comparison calculator and actually there's two of them so the first one is our host agency comparison calculator which is best if you're comparing different host agencies for instance if you're just getting into the industry and aren't sure which host you want to go with or if you're with a host currently but want to try another one and so you want to do some comparison shopping the biggest difference between the calculators is the fee section right here and that's just because different postage needs have different programs that they offer at different costs so everything above the shaded area is editable so you can change the host to be whatever hosts you've narrowed down your options to and I'm just gonna do it on the list here the first thing you're gonna put in is your annual Commission's what's really important is you want this before the host cut so if you have already been working with a host agency you have received a 1099 and you want to put the amount on your 1099 basically it's the full amount of commission you've earned before the host agency has taken their cut now if you're a new agent just starting in the industry you have no idea what you're gonna make and that's where this twenty five hundred comes in and I got this number from our 2017 travel agent income survey that we did and that showed that the average annual gross income for new travel agents is around twenty five hundred so I put that in across the board here and then for me I just decided to put some numbers in this is a completely fictional host agency and I chose to look at a ninety percent plan for a host one and for host two and for host three I did an 85 percent plan and then I just put in different fees across the board again so the monthly plan fee as well as they have a website fee marketing education CRM those are the top ones but I do have another monthly fee section for kind of a catch-all if there's anything else and then of course if your host agency or the host agencies you're looking at charge an annual fee you put that there and basically it's it's just doing the math for you so as you change your numbers let's say host 1 was actually only $25 a month and so as we can see from here it looks like host 2 is me the best take home pay but there's a couple things to keep in mind 1 do your research before using the calculator you want to make sure you have all the correct fees in to really best help you if you don't know one of the fees for one of the hosts I would recommend zeroing out across the board otherwise it's gonna skew your numbers the other thing is if for instance a host offers that say host 1 offers a website program at $10 a month but host 2 doesn't have a website program you want to keep that in mind so looking at the bottom line again it's shows that host 2 gives me the best take-home pay but if you really want a website you have to remember you'll be paying elsewhere for a website since your host doesn't have that feed and then of course if a program is optional and you don't want to use it don't add it to the calculator so let's say you don't want a website program from any of the hosts I'm gonna zero that out across the board then just making it a little bit more real to what you will actually pay and one other thing to mention don't forget it isn't a straight numbers game how you get along with your hosts who their preferred suppliers are what your niche is what programs they offer etc all that's going to vary from host to host and what's best for you is going to be different from another agent based on your agency's needs so with that let's switch over to our basic plan comparison like I said it's just a simpler version this is for comparing plans with the same host so let's say you've already chosen your host agency and you're just not sure which plan to start on or if you're already with a host and you're trying to decide if it would be worth it for you to go to a higher plan or if you should go to a lower plan this one I put an annual Commission across the board is 15,000 and then I'm saying my host agency I'm with has dat and a 90% plan and I'm not sure which one I should go to so I put in my monthly cost as 0 47025 for 80 and 50 for 90% plan and again if you happen to have any fees that are specific to the different percentage plans or annual fees you can put those in there and again looking at my take-home pay it looks like going to the 90% plan would be my best bet with this host agency and I know I can sometimes be scary moving to the higher percentage because you're paying money but this calculator is meant to help you realize what the real bottom dollar is so yes you are paying more monthly but if you look at that take-home pay the host agencies cut is so much less that it's really worth it for you to be moving to the 90 percent
