What do pro-choicers think of third-trimester abortions?
First, the child has a “head and limbs and everything” much, much earlier than the third trimester. So if the criteria is that a fetus with “a head and limbs and everything” should not be aborted, the period of time when abortion is okay would have to be before 8 or 9 weeks or even earlier, depending on your perception of what constitutes a “head and limbs”. The little buds and the little webbed looking hands are seen by 8 weeks, along with the large (seemingly) misshapen head that will envelope the amazing human brain.I personally believe that the fetus is not conscious until around the 24th week of pregnancy. (I came up with this general time frame from reading about neurology, consciousness, and fetal development; a complex topic that I won’t detail here.) I don’t believe the fetus feels pain when aborted before about the 22nd week. Although it is heart-wrenching to watch images of the fetus (reflexively) attempting to escape abortionist tools. They jerk and pull away, as all living things seek to preserve their lives. However, as I said elsewhere, that to me being unconscious does not mean a living being does not have rights. I recently had surgery and was unconscious for the procedure. I could have been terminated and not felt it or known about it, but that wouldn’t have made it morally right.Very few abortions are done in the third trimester. Few doctors will do them. When they do occur it is often because the fetus is so seriously deformed and would not survive the birth process anyway. (But since your question is about having a head and limbs, we needn’t stick to the last trimester in our discussion.)Abortion is not legal throughout all three trimesters in most states. Many states have limits of between 20 to 24 weeks, some even earlier. But even at 12 weeks, yes, there is a very human-looking being with a little head, arms and legs and visible, although still ambiguous, genitals.I don’t know what “pro-choice” people think about very late abortions. Some may have an arbitrary timeline in their own mind as towhen the baby is too human to deprive of its life, and others follow the “gospel of choice”. The gospel of choice is that any and all rights an unborn person has are null and void because the rights of the mother trump them. Once the infant is born and takes a breath, then and only then can humanity be ascribed to them. Here is an interesting video in which a (former) fetus speaks of surviving an abortion attempt:I must say, I am suspicious of your claim to be pro-choice. Forgive me if I am incorrect in my suspicions. Frequently, posters on this forum will pose as pro-choice and ask innocent questions meant to provoke the discussion on Quora. It is futile to try to dissuade most pro-choicers with these ethics questions.Of interest, there are many former pro-choice warriors who have struggled with the issue and have jumped the fence. Notable is Dr. Bernard Nathanson, the abortionist who may have done more than anyone else to make abortion legal as one of the key figures in the work of the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws. (NARAL) . His turnaround was so radical that he went from an atheist to a Catholic and spent his remaining years fighting abortion. I have not been able to find online recently his breathless deathbed plea for unborn life, but this obituary provides his perspective. B. N. Nathanson, 84, Dies; Changed Sides on AbortionOther well-known figures include the “Roe” of “Roe versus Wade”’ Norma McCorvey, who changed her mind and spent decades as a prolife activist Norma McCorvey on becoming pro-life (1998) - CNN Videoand Abby Johnson, the former director of a Planned Parenthood. AbortionWorkerOf course, these mind-changes have no effect on discussion with true-believing pro-choice people; such people are seen only as turncoats. If the “gospel of choice” community responds at all, it is usually in the form of attack or attempts to discredit those who have jumped the fence. For those who have a grain of doubt in their position, who are troubled by the fetal attempt to squirm away from a sharp tool, then perhaps the reasons these pro-choice icons became turncoats may be interesting. But they will not interest those who have no doubts.I will provide here links to two videos showing fetal life. One is a miscarriage, and the other is labelled as an abortion. I don’t believe the moving fetus is an abortion, despite the claims of the person who posted it. The medical personnel are speaking a language I don’t understand, but you can hear tones of sadness as they discuss the little fetus, and further the fetus is not damaged in anyway, so likely this is footage of a natural miscarriage. This is graphic, but not gory, it is merely a fetus moving a little bit as it dies because it cannot live outside the womb. This fetus is too young to try to breathe or have any pain or consciousness. I am estimating that it was born early in the second trimester. If you are sensitive, it may be too alarming to watch. I am sorry about the banner “Abortion is Murder” and so on. but this is the only video that shows the miscarriage of a fetus of this age that I can find. I don’t think all the “murder” talk and the accusations help the discussion. Anyway, this is not a third trimester baby by any stretch of the imagination. It is likely 14 to 16 weeks and yes, there is a head and legs.I want to also add that I don’t think that reversing the Supreme Court decision regarding the right of women to terminate their pregnancies will help anything at this point.I am more interested in being free to talk about human life with those who have doubts and to explore addressing the cultural effects of the legalization of abortion. For instance, there are movements such as Feminists for Life and other secular prolife movements who offer a different perspective from the religious dissenters and the “gospel of choice” movement. secularprolifeYes, the Supreme Court has spoken. But no law has been enacted that prevents thoughtful people from re-examining and conversing about the disquieting questions that the theme of abortion gives rise to.

What should I know about fibromyalgia?
What can you tell me about fibromyalgia? Fibromyalgia, first of all, is a REAL disease. (There are doctors who think it isn't.) We don't know for sure what causes it. Often there's a history of acute injury such as a car accident. In fibromyalgia people develop tender points in the body and they experience severe pain. There are 18 trigger points the care provider will check and you must be sensitive to 11 for a diagnosis. Patients with fibromyalgia produce low levels of serotonin and norepinephrine. They also produce high levels of glutamate and endorphins. There is often an association with depression. Interestingly fibromyalgia...

What are you banned from? Why?
I am banned from:All San Jose Sharks games for screaming "kill the fucking frog, you fucking weak piece of shit" in 2000 in a game between the Sharks and the Leafs. It didn't help that I was hanging 8ft up on the top of the plexiglass barrier. All KFC in the country for calling KFC "the disease ridden whore of fast food after a night of shagging a pile of chicken feces" and demanding to see the rotting carcass of "the Colonel" to compare its edibility with that of a six piece all white bucket - during a panel discussion about food at a food service show. I got the letter three weeks later. All "Twin Peaks" locations in the greater Dallas area for making hand motions simulating oral intercourse in front of a camera that live-streamed into the main dining hall. When challenged on the frivolity of my actions I responded that a place that uses every sexist trope under the sun to attract frat boys and idiot bankers trying to fill their wank bank has no standing in this debate - and got banned. Two Megachurches in Dallas for wearing a Gay Pride t-shirt and entering their merchandise and sermon-on-DVD store inquiring about incense and myrrh flavored condoms.Calling the Rush Limbaugh show for telling him that draft dodgers and drug addicts have no standing in criticizing our Commander in Chief.A few bars and restaurants in San Jose and around for starting fights or being involved in them.Edit: yes, I am a rude, undesirable, morally depraved and pretty ugly human being. I enjoy it. I also don't ever want to eat at KFC or Twin Peaks, I don't live in San Jose anymore, and I am not usually calling Rush Limbaugh or go to church, so none of those bans really affect me other than cementing my reputation.

How do people feel about the FBI disproving Hillary Clinton claims? How do you feel about MSNBC's presentation of the FBI findin
Most on the left don’t care. Maybe they feel slighted that a typically left-friendly news outlet has gone against one of “their own”, but in essence, that is what the news SHOULD be about, right?I am an Independent mostly because I’m disgusted by both parties. I have a lot of progressive friends and I’ve heard 2 distinctly different responses to the whole email scandal. First, it’s a “vast right wing conspiracy” and that other SoS have all done the same thing (false). Most (if not all) of these are supporters of Hillary, and nothing short of a miracle would ever convince them that she is corrupt. The second response was actually not much different than what I’ve heard from my more conservative friends…they believed she should be indicted and that she is corrupt down to her very core. These were all Bernie supporters. The more it appeared that Bernie would not win the primary, though, the more tolerant they became of Hillary and the less they “believed” that she is the criminal they originally thought she was. I suspect this is because they despise Donald Trump and have come to believe that nothing she has done (allegedly) is as bad as Trump will be for the US. There are a few that have stood their ground and intend on voting for Johnson. Now that Comey has issued his statement that the FBI will not indict Hillary Clinton, I think most people are surprised. Then again, I think most people would be surprised if they did decide to indict, too. It’s weird, but ultimately, this one seemed up in the air for all of us…except Hillary. She has seemed pretty calm and confident throughout the whole affair, but that was absolutely expected regardless.Am I surprised? A little, but I’m mostly disappointed because this whole debacle has just proved how broken our system is. When the law is applied unevenly, it no longer remains viable and justice becomes a foreign concept. I don’t care if it protects someone I would typically support or hurts a piece of legislation that I am in favor of — the law is the law and it should be blind to politics. Comey’s announcement confirms that it is sadly not the case.If you’re thinking that I am just venting, please do a little research on a person named Bryan Nishimura. Less than a year ago, he was charged with (and convicted of) “unauthorized removal and retention of classified materials without malicious intent.” Did you catch that? Without malicious intent. Comey’s speech yesterday outlined and confirmed all that Hillary did wrong but chose against an indictment because there was no malicious intent. He even acknowledged that her server was likely hacked by foreign entities. There are similar cases for other people, too, and like Bryan Nishimura, they are faces the consequences for their mistakes, regardless of whether they were irresponsible, negligent or even just a result of a single momentary lapse of judgement.Bryan didn’t go to jail, but he was sentenced to 2 years probation, issued a $7500 fine and stripped of all security clearance. And he deserved it. Should Hillary go to jail? I don’t think so, at least not for this, but if she received the same treatment / punishment, it would absolutely disqualify her to be President for sure. At least Nishimura admitted his wrong doing…Still don’t believe me? Folsom Naval Reservist is Sentenced After Pleading Guilty to Unauthorized Removal and Retention of Classified Materials

Do scientists show bigotry to creationists and ID supporters?
Guenter Bechly, whom your link celebrates, is an interesting oddity. He is an old-earth dragonfly/damselfly systematist who believes Intelligent Design explains the diversity and functionality of life on earth. Intelligent DesignHe is also a Roman Catholic. I was raised Catholic and got 11 years of parochial and Jesuit education, so I have some understanding of that point of view. The Catholic Church’s official position is that evolution of bodies is a scientific issue, not religious; the soul is God’s direct work. But this is not Bechly’s position. In fact most of the people who support his...

What are some potential low-cost businesses that can be started and operated by a teenager? I have $1000 to work with. I am an E
WARNING!: This answer is very technical and not advised to be read by folks looking to make a quick buck or get rich quick. Here’s the thing kid, none of us know jack crap about what you should spend your time doing in building a low cost business. There are literally 10000s of low cost business options.I’d rather teach you the principles of building a low cost business. Then you can plug in any idea on top of it.Once you know the principles of building a low cost business virtually any business idea you dream up follows the same principles. They will not teach you this stuff in high school. The idea isn’t as important as the foundational principles. Think of it as a gaming console. You can have the latest and greatest game that people want to buy but if you don’t have a good operating system to control the game then you’re dead in the water.Operating System first then amazing idea:You need to understand how to build an operating system for your low cost business that is sustainable and scalable. There is no Grand Theft Auto without PlayStation and Xbox. There is no lemonade stand without supply, demand, capital, price, and labor. Some definitions:Supply: Amount of product or service providers in a market place.Demand: Customer wants problem or solution and will pay money for it.Capital: The value of assets either in raw goods for products and the brain power of the people making the product or providing the service.Price: The amount of cash a customer will give you for your product or service.Labor: The time it takes for people to build your product or provide your service.Supply and Demand:Most people mix up the order of Supply and Demand. It should be Demand and Supply.Lawn care services have high demand. The supply of lawn care labor is high and therefore the price you can demand will be low.High Demand + High Supply = Lower Prices. The capital required for lawn care services are pretty high.Truck: $15,000 (Decent truck with ok miles)Mowers (Commercial Grade): $1000Weed eaters and blowers (Commercial Grade): $500Ooops lawn care business capital exceeds $1000 in capital.Understanding the Demand + Supply + Capital + Price + Labor formula is the key in understanding where to spend your time and effort.First: Figure out what types of work you’re most interested in. If you have a knack for fixing stuff then start a business centered around fixing stuff.Second: Apply the Economic Formula to the work you’re most interested in and see if there is a demand.Look for an opportunity that gives you this formula:High Demand + Low Supply = Higher PricesLow Capital + Low Labor = Higher Return on InvestmentIf it takes you $10,000 in capital and 100 labor hours at $25 per hour to make $2500 then you will go out of business. People do it all of the time.High Capital + High Labor Costs = Lower return on investment or profit margin.Tesla = High Capital + High Labor Costs = -14% net profit. (Real numbers from their last quarterly income report)Gas Car Market: High Demand + High Supply = Lower priceElectric Car Market: Low Demand + Low Supply = High PriceWhen there is low supply of something the price is high. If there is low demand and low supply you run an unprofitable business. Elon Musk is the only dude I know who has had a negative net company and he get’s lauded as a rockstar. Now you see why Tesla is trying to get a $35K car to market.Facebook = Low Capital + Low Labor Costs = 40% NET PROFIT. It’s crazy!Marketing to 2 Billion people: High Demand + Low Supply = HIGH prices.Facebook and Google are the only two companies than can supply advertising power to billions of people. Now do you see why they’re making so much money? To sum up:Look for High Demand and Low Supply markets to exploit. It’s very difficult I know.Until you find that market niche at least look for High Demand markets with high supply. Your prices will be lower but that’s ok you’re learning the most important fundamental principle in business and that’s understanding what’s in high demand.Don’t believe the bull crappers that tell you that you can “create” demand.Steve Jobs didn’t “create” demand with iPods and smart phones. A music player was already in demand. Phones and music players have been in demand for 150 years. Steve just did it better than everybody else.Look around you and see what’s in demand! The rest is simple math that you can fill out on a Google spreadsheet.

Trans folk, why did you pick the name you go by now?
My brother named me.He essentially called me out on my bullshit and delaying and--upon being prodded, picked ‘Miles’ from a list of names I had compiled. My original chosen name was Avalon. Avalon Lee, a pen name I picked when I was fourteen. Cause, y'know, I'm cool like that and obviously gonna be a famous author. Good lord, 14 year-old Wattpad Miles, please stay dead.Jesus.Anyways, that name is good, but slightly feminine and just neutral enough to work as a pen name. But not as a personal name. While I was going through my name picking, I used AJ, the initials of my birthname, as a placeholder. For months. If you know me, then you know that I am notoriously quick to jump the gun. But for some reason, names are different. I was taking forever to pick a name, cause it needed to be the one. It had to be absolutely perfect because if I changed it the world would explode and die. You can see the rationality and logic there, right? But that was my mindset. Either way, I was getting sick of having a placeholder and not my own name. I needed to make a decision. College was starting in a few days, and there was no way I was going to go by my birthname.I wanted something unmistakably male. No more questions, no more confusion, just-- “Oh! Right, that's Miles. He's a guy.”So I picked Miles Alexander. Just unique enough--I don't know any other Miles's in real life, just a trans Youtuber who shares the same deadname and chosen name as me, coincidentally enough--and normal enough and masculine enough to make me feel like me. It shares the same root language as my birthname: Latin. And being the oldest in a pack of siblings, standing out is important. (There's probably a psychological reason for that, I don't know. There must be a reason for my weirdness.) My brothers have Hebrew names, my sister has a Celtic one, and I have a Latin one. It's mine.I tried to follow the tradition of Place men having Hebrew Biblical names, and it just didn't work. But I wanted it to! I wanted it to so badly… I really considered Isaac for awhile, before my brother pointed out that it was an ancient-sounding old man name. He's a hypocrite, by the way. He has an old name too. But his rationale was, “Miles is a cool name. You need a modern name.”I couldn't argue with that. And besides, the rest of my friends voted unanimously for it.It was down to Miles vs. Isaac, and Miles won. Alexander got tacked on there cause it flows well.I've been introducing myself as Miles to a whole bunch of newfound college friends and to be honest, it feels great. Thank you for reading this, if you're still here after this whole lengthy wayward tangent. Wish me luck.
