How do medical records go from institution to institution if the hospital systems in question use different EMR software? Are th
Sadly, I have to agree with the previous answers, even though my current job is programming one of these electronic medical record systems. I work for an organization that uses EPIC. There is not even a clean interface from different organizations that use EPIC. They do have a view portal so that documentation from one system can be seen by the other system. The reason for this is that each customer of EPIC is able to customize it to their needs. Since a facility using EPIC in Alaska is not using the same installation of EPIC as a facility in Texas, the two facilities would have to use a portal provided by EPIC in order to see each other's records. It is not perfect but it is getting better.I have NEVER been able to get all of my prior medical records from Texas to my doctors in Alaska. Some things were faxed. Some things were mailed. Some were burned to disks and mailed but were damaged and unreadable. When the law was passed to require the use of an electronic medical record system, there should have been a provision that required them to find a way to talk to each other.I do not agree with John Tyczkowski, though. This is not some kind of mass effort to just create a huge database. It really is an effort to build a system that will allow the integration of health care as well as the availability of retrieving that information. I will tell you that we are working very diligently to program these records to be useful in the care of the patient. Are we there, yet? In some ways, yes. It is better than it was 5 years ago. Do we have a ways to go? Of course. This whole industry is actually in its infancy and is a work in progress.

What can hackers teach web developers in one minute to change the way they are thinking?
A signNow portion of my day-to-day work involves breaking into web applications. However, periodically I have the opportunity to forensically review logs of compromised web applications. It is interesting to note that most web applications don’t offer enough visibility into the the user’s behavior. So here is my advice: Develop your web application in such a way that the developer/system administrator will be alerted on malicious behavior. Don’t wait for someone to review logs to find out that the website was compromised 2 years ago. Here are some suggestions on how to proactively monitor for hackers:Monitor for special characters in places where there should only be numbers. If you are expecting a numeric value to a parameter but receive special characters, sanitize the data and send off an alert. Raise the alert level if this happens multiple times over a short period of time.If an IP address has multiple login failures in a short period of time, kick off another alert.Implement a blocking mechanism to block a detected hacker. Keep in mind that it may be very easy for him/her to change their IP address.Send an alert when someone tries to access URLs found in the robots.txt file. *The robots.txt file is used to tell search engines to skip certain URLs.If the user is generating many 404 File not Found errors in a short period of time, kick off another alert. They may be scanning the internet for vulnerable applications.Ensure that you can white list certain IP addresses. It is important to selectively disable security to permit a third party company to test the web application.Hope this helped!

I can see Federal, State, Social Security and Medicare taxes mentioned in my W-2 Form? I am completely new to taxes, how do I fi
Technically you don't file taxes. Instead taxes are automatically witheld from your paycheck and once a year, you file an income tax return statement. If it turns out that more money was witheld than you actually owe (the most common case), the government will send you a check for the difference. If instead you owe more than the amount that was witheld, you will have to send a check for the difference along with your income tax return. The address you need to send your completed and signed form is included with the instructions (it may also be on the form itself).Ernest Montague is incorrect about the 1040 NR form (the form he is referring to is the 1040 EZ). Since you are not a citizen, you will need to file either the 1040 NR or the 1040 NR EZ (NR stands for Non-Resident). The 1040 NR EZ is the simpler form. If the instructions say you can use the 1040 NR EZ, then you should do so. Otherwise, you will have to use the longer 1040 NR form. You can download these forms and their instructions from the IRS at Forms & Pubs Just enter the form number (1040 NR or 1040 NR EZ) in the search field. You can download the Massachusetts state form and instructions at 2015 Massachusetts Income Tax Forms and Schedules Again, download the non-resident form.Good Luck!

How can I search for a EIN to start filing my taxes?
You need to clarify what you mean by "search."If you mean "applying" for an EIN, the following steps can be taken:If you have a Social Security Number or ITIN number, you may apply for an Employer Identification Number for free here: EIN Individual Request - Online Application However, if you do not have a Social Security Number (SSN) or an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN), the following process should be followed:Retain a business lawyer to act as the third-party designee for your business. The business lawyer will prepare an Application for Employer Identification Number on your behalf. The business lawyer will contact the Internal Revenue Service Center for International applicants and fax the signed form to the Internal Revenue Service (IRS).The business lawyer will receive the Employer Identification Number for the foreign business on the same day.I have successfully received Employer Identification Numbers for more than 40 applicants without a Social Security Number or ITIN.Feel free to contact me at sam@mollaeilaw.com if you need to get an EIN without a Social Security Number or ITIN.

What are the most extreme examples of hypocrisy?
This happened a week back when I was traveling from Pratapgarh to Allahabad. It was a two and a half hours' journey and the condition of the bus wasn't good enough, so I plugged in my earphones, and started listening to some songs. After 15 minutes when I was at Bhupiamau, a lady in her twenties came to me and asked me about my destination.Me- “Allahabad.”She- “Utho!! (Stand up!)”Me- “Kis khushi me? (On what purpose?)”She- “Mujhe baithna hai. ( I want to sit here.)”That was a shocking moment. No one had ever asked me to vacate a seat. And it came from nowhere.I look around to check whether my seat was reserved for women or any other category.Me- “Sorry ma'am, I won't.”She- “Excuse me?”I ignored her.She- “Who the fuck are you?”She was shouting at me! Yes, I was surprised. I was surprised as no one in general here communicated in English and that too, at an UPSRTC bus. And I was even more surprised that she was using f words.Ache din aa gye hai (Good days are here), I thought.Me- “I could be anything ma'am but I am not a person who's going to vacate his seat just because her highness wants me to.”She gave a look which I can't translate, but I was sure that it was not a friendly look. She went away and stood somewhere. After 45 more minutes, when I opened my eye at Mauaima, I saw few more people boarding the bus. An old man nearing 70 was searching some place to sit, so I offered him my seat. Now the same girl came from nowhere and shouted at me,She- “You just vacated your seat to a MAN. Don't you have any respect for women? Maa baap ne kuch sikhaya nahi kya..!! (Your mom and dad didn't teach you anything?)Me- “Yes ma'am I don't have any respect for you. That's not because you are a woman but because you are an arrogant woman without a healthy and working mind!! I vacated my seat because I saw a person who was indeed in need of a seat, and yes ma'am, my Mom and Dad didn't teach me to respect a person just because of his/her gender!!And ma'am don't you dare to show me your revolutionary image when the seat reserved for women are fully occupied by male passengers and you are watching it like a mute spectator!!”So the points made by her were:1. Vacate your seat and torture yourself for two and a half hours just because her highness wants you to. (Her highness didn't want herself to suffer.)2. Respect her because of her gender. (She was not giving me any kinda respect because of my gender.)3. Her highness’ comfort is far more valuable than an old man's need. (Where the hell is my comfort?)4. Her highness is revolutionary enough to ask me to vacate my seat but didn't ask any man to vacate a seat reserved for females. (INQUILAB (The revolution), let's die together)For those who don't know how a UPSRTC bus looks like,Edit: Amlan Naskar (अमलान नसकर) , thank you for edits!!! :)

What is the Israeli model for airport security?
As an Israeli, I think I can try and explain the process of the airport security. I'll explain the process as if you were to depart from the Ben Gurion Airport (Israel's primary airport).1. Upon entrance to the airport complex (with your car/taxi/bus), you will be stopped by IDF soldiers. They will inspect you and the vehicle in which you are in (open the boot, doors, etc.) and look for any suspicious objects. If you yourself look suspicious they may ask you a few questions. 2. If you pass stage one, you'll arrive at the drop off point - the entrance to the check-in terminal. Before entering the building, you will notice several IDF soldiers sitting down and inspecting go-byers. Again, if you look suspicious, I presume they will stop you and ask you several questions. 3. Once you're in, it's time to check-in your luggage, but wait, not so fast. Checking-in in Israel does not work like other countries - there's a step before it. You first must wait in line to answer a few questions by security personnel (polyglots). They usually look for nerve impulses and 'inconsistent' statements. 4. Once you answered the questions, you must process your bags through baggage scanners - if something is found, which may pose threat, you will be asked to open your suitcase and display the contents. 5. If all goes well, you will be able to approach the check-in desk and submit your luggage. 6. After check-in, you will have to go through security check (the normal procedure found in every airport). 7. This of course, will be followed by passport control. Here you may find yourself being asked a series of questions, not too different than the ones asked at US airports. 8. You'll be free to enjoy great Israeli coffee at the Duty Free and depart to your next destination. As you can see, steps 5 - 7 are the norm in most international airports. Israel really distinguishes itself with top tier security with steps 1-4. It focuses heavily on inspection and intelligent questioning.Additional Information: - All travellers go through the same process; Israeli or not. - No full body scans (well, only 2% - 5% must go through additional screening)- Secondary screenings can involve up to several hours of questioning.- Agents are scattered throughout the airport, observing travellers. What is the most asked question on Quora (by the number of questions merged into it)?
As someone who writes mostly technology-related answers, I see the following question so much it makes me want to tear my hair out:“Can iCloud Activation Lock be Bypassed?”For those who don’t know, Apple devices that have an iCloud account active on them with Find My iPhone enabled will lock the device to that Apple ID even if it is restored to factory defaults. This is designed to prevent thievery, since stolen devices (typically iPhones) are useless without the Apple ID password they are locked with to unlock it. It is incredibly common for people to sell devices without removing the lock beforehand (likely because they don’t know it exists, or how to remove it) or because it is stolen. Either way, the lock cannot be bypassed without that password… but that doesn’t stop everyone and their mother from asking if it can be done as if the rules somehow don’t apply to them.Instead of viewing the answers on an existing question, or even asking new people to answer that existing question, they make a new one. Every. Single. Time. Quora is absolutely flooded with these questions, and I get A2A requests for them more than anything else.

Is there ever a crime scene exception to the warrant requirement?
Yes, a limited exception exists, depending upon the type of scene. Let's say we're talking about a body in a house. We'll also assume that, through whatever lawful method, a police officer has discovered the body. That police officer may, at the very least, secure that evidence without a warrant. This will generally include walking through the house to make sure nobody and nothing (like pets) are present which could alter the evidence at the scene. Once the house is cleared, officers can then prevent others from entering the house and disturbing the scene. If death is at all in question, then of course the EMTs (Evidence Mangling Technicians) will also enter to see whether there is anything they can do for the victim. If at all possible, a police officer will hover over them to document any changes they make to the scene and, ideally, snap some photos before, during, and after the EMT visit.Once all that is done, it's time to exit the house. If someone with control over the house, such as a surviving spouse, is present and willing to sign a consent form, then no search warrant is required due to the consent exception to the search warrant requirement. Otherwise, the house will be secured from the outside until a warrant is obtained.

During the Boston lockdown if a citizen refused the police entrance into their house would the police have surrounded the house
This one's a tangled mess of legal and practical issues. If you want simplistic speculation or out of context sound bites, there are thousands of Twitter accounts ready to fill this void in your life; otherwise, bear with me:The units going door-to-door weren't the type you say no to. They didn't have neighborhood cops tap-tap-tapping on screen doors - search teams were composed largely of SWAT units in full tactical gear. There were myriad unspoken pressures to consent to sweeps. Communication from SWAT squads would have been resolute, to say the least - there weren't any episodes of, "Hey, uh, would you care if we came in your house and looked around?" Besides that, it's very unlikely anybody in that area wanted to be an impediment to progress in the search - if something goes bad later and your neighbors find out you had been haranguing federal agents on your front stoop, to quote a certain ski instructor, you're gonna have a bad time.Objections would be swiftly met with assurances of scope. I ran into this on occasion. When I was a rookie, a situation arose in which we needed to clear a residence for some reason, and the shifty dude at the front door started balking at letting us come in. It was grey as far as emergency warrant exceptions went, so my street-wise backup officer said something along the lines of, "Listen, pal, all we want to do is make sure this guy's not in there. We don't have time to f--- around with your misdemeanor weed and paraphernalia tonight, so if you don't have our guy or a dead body in there, we're pretty much gonna bid you a nice evening and be on our way." The guy considered for a beat, then cleared the way. We swept the residence, hat-tipped him on our way out, and went on to the next door. I'm positive objections would have been met with something similar, though perhaps with less patience. Now, I don't know what the legal framework was behind the door-to-door canvass, or how exactly outright refusals would have been (or were) processed. I'm sure they had legal counsel close at hand throughout the duration of the event. That said, here are some considerations:Remember, residences were entered to sweep, not to search. There is a signNow legal difference. As an officer, if I had suspicion that someone was hiding in a residence that I had gained lawful entry into, I could conduct a sweep to ensure I wouldn't be ambushed by a hidden subject. However, the scope of this sweep was limited to looking for a person, and limited to areas in which a person could reasonably be expected to hide. Thus, I could look in closets and under beds, but not in nightstand drawers or medicine cabinets. What canvassing units were doing during the lockdown was a sweep, not a search; how this distinction relates to Fourth Amendment issues is a bridge too far as far as my expertise goes - I'll defer to more competent legal minds there. However, I will note that, despite varying legal opinions here, it's likely ensuring a terrorist wasn't passed over and allowed to get behind perimeter lines would be considered "reasonable" by many interpreters of law (definitely not all, though - hence the controversy). This would be less a matter of "throwing the law aside" and more one of operating based on exceptions which have withstood judicial and other scrutinies over time.If warrants were deemed required, they could be had quickly. I was first on scene to a grisly three car accident instigated by a drunk driver. Our point DWI officer attempted to get a breath sample from him on scene, but he had prior DWI convictions and refused. The DWI officer said, "That's fine, pal - I'll have a needle in your arm within the hour." Officer calls a prosecutor at home, who prints a boilerplate blood warrant in his home office while the officer whisks himself to the prosecutor's house. While he's coming, prosecutor calls the on-call circuit judge and asks if they can get a warrant signed for an emergency DWI blood draw. Having gotten a green light, officer picks prosecutor up and heads to the judge's house with completed form warrant in hand. Judge signs the warrant on his front porch, and officer is off to the hospital. With the warrant, hospital staff has legal clearance to draw blood specifically for the criminal investigation, and they do so. Time from breath test refusal on the accident scene to venipuncture at the hospital? All of 42 minutes. If the FBI's legal counsel deemed it necessary to secure a warrant in the wake of entry refusals, they could have them in a fraction of this time.I've looked for indications in many different quarters online as to whether anyone in the affected area actually refused a search; I can't find any. Some general conspiracy theories, some commentary on civil liberties erosion, but no mentions I can find of attempts to decline entry. Thus, any conjecture here or elsewhere may remain purely theory, as I doubt you'd get an answer from the command detail that wasn't mealy-mouthed and spun to the point of dizziness.
