How do you explain the new e-Residency available for Estonia in simplified terms? How can an average non-Estonian benefit?
I applied for e-residency and founded a company in Estonia. It is awesome and something that many other countries simply lack. However, the program is quite new and there are still some issues which makes the process more painful as I would like it to be. If you are not planning to establish a company in Estonia, applying for an e-residency won’t give you much more value. It is not a real residency and it will not give you any rights that natives have. The e-residency is designed for completely different purpose. For me, the purpose is to run my company.First, let’s discuss a bit about why Estonia since that is the most asked question when I tell people that my company exists in Estonia even though I personally live in Finland (however, where I live is completely irrelevant). Five years ago I got an idea that I want to found a digital company; a company that has no physical location and everything can be managed from internet. I searched many options but it was impossible to form such company. There simply was not an option to manage the company completely from internet without sending clumsy papers and requirements to physically visit different board offices at times. It seemed very weird for me to tie a company so tightly to some special location on Earth. My company is and will always be functioning globally so it is even impossible to say where it should be located. I have clients all-over the world.I did not found the company at that time. Then couple of years passed by and I encountered Estonia’s e-residency program. It was something new and very powerful: in the modern digital era, where internet connects everything and everyone, why would anyone want to be located in one specific location when you can be located everywhere all the time? With Estonia e-residency, this is actually possible: if you apply for it and found a company in Estonia, you can manage your company everywhere in the world and you are not ever required to even visit Estonia. And yes, it is open for everyone; even for people outside European Union. The e-residency program allowed me to found my company with terms that made sense to me: I am building an internet company and only reasonable location for it is internet. Its name is registered in Estonia, it is controlled under Estonia’s legal system and it pays taxes to Estonia (I pay my taxes to country where I live). But it does not have a physical location in Estonia, because it would be completely waste of money. For me, Estonia was easy choice: as my knowledge, no other country offers a system as good as Estonia’s e-residency program. However, many other countries must soon support this also since more and more companies are becoming digitalized and there is really no point of asking questions like “where are your biggest clients located?” Because the answer is “everywhere”.In day-to-day business I often forget that my company actually exists in Estonia, and that only proves how good the system is. I only have to think about it when I do bookkeeping and pay taxes. A very big bonus is that as a person, I am not tied to a location: I can travel to another side of the world and nobody really cares. My company is still in Estonia and I have full access to close deals, sign documents and fill in financial reports. This is just the way how I want to run my business and now it is possible thanks to Estonia. The system is quite new and there are still some things that could be improved. Here is a short summary of the steps that I took and also some tips:Apply for Estonia’s e-residency. You can do this online and then visit Estonia embassy (to get your e-residency card) in the area where you are located.Pay for a virtual office service (there are plenty of choices in Estonia). This is because you will need to provide a company address in Estonia when you are filling a company registration form. I asked about this from Estonia’s business register and they just replied “you need to have an address in Estonia”. I still don’t know why but you just have to have it. Nobody has ever posted me anything.Found a company in Estonia. It only takes less than two hours. You can make it less than 30 minutes if you know what you are doing.Open a bank account in Estonia. This was the biggest barrier that hit me. Banks in Finland said that they cannot open account for foreign companies and banks in Estonia said that e-residency is not enough to be able to act as a company representative. However, there was one bank who wanted to hear my story, LHV, and I opened a company account there. Then you are ready to go. You can access government services with e-residency card, encrypt messages, sign documents and much more.If you live outside EU or do not speak Estonian, I recommend to use Estonia’s services that help you to understand Estonia’s laws and legal system. Remember that your company exists in Estonia and it is regulated by the laws of Estonia, which may be different than you have used to (don’t worry, business laws in Estonia are simple and easy to understand). There are many documents available in English, but there are still some situations where being able to speak Estonian would be beneficial. All and all, I am very happy that the world is becoming more connected and even country borders are loosening up. In this era, where there are so many ways to do business, it is good that there is at least one country which understands and shares the vision of it. Thank you Estonia once again for letting entrepreneurs like me to build the future.

What step-by-step process should I follow to file a Canadian PR application without any external help from a consultant?
Let me start this answer by saying ‘External Consultant is not at all required to apply for Canada PR under Express Entry (Federal Skilled Workers Programme or Provincial Nominee Programme)’.Following are the steps to apply for Canada PR via Express Entry Programme. Steps for PNP are not included below.Step 1:Identify whether you are eligible for Canada PR or not. This can be checked via a free Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Tool available on the official website of the Canada Immigration website. Here is the link - Eligibility to apply as a Federal Skilled Worker (Express Entry)Step 2:Once you find yourself eligible for Express Entry Programme, check your comprehensive score (CRS) at the following linkComprehensive Ranking System (CRS) tool: skilled immigrants (Express Entry)Minimum CLB 7 is required to be eligible for Canada PR. i.e for IELTS, 6 in each module and for CELPIP, 7 in each module is required. However, make sure to put 8777 (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) score while checking your CRS. If you are selecting CELPIP, put 9 each. I will explain the reason to this in the answer later. If your score is 440 or above, assuming that you have entered authentic information in the CRS free tool, you have high chances to immigrate to Canada under Express Entry Programme.Step 3:You need to get your credential documents assessed by an authorised and listed organisation. Following is the list of those organisations. Identify which one suits you the best. WES is highly recommended.Comparative Education Service HomepageICASEvaluations for Immigration (ECA) - World Education ServicesIQAS assessment for immigration purposesInternational Credential Evaluation Service (ICES)Before you decide to take up IELTS/CELPIP/TEF, kindly initiate the process for Education Credential Assessment (ECA) as collecting documents for this process is time-consuming. You will need transcripts for all degree certificates from your universities. If your spouse possesses an undergraduate or postgraduate degree, it is advisable to get his/her credentials assessed. This will give you additional points in CRS and will increase your chances of getting an invite (ITA) for permanent residency.Step 4:Appear for any linguistic skills such as IELTS, CELPIP or TEF.Step 5:Once you have your linguistic test results and ECA result, create an Express Entry Profile. Keep your degree certificates and transcripts handy while creating your EE Profile as exact start and end date of the course will be required.Below is the link where you can initiate creating your EE Profile.Create an account or sign inGo to the bottom of the page where you will see ‘Continue to GCKey’. Select this option and ‘Sign Up’ with the required information. There is no cost involved to create an EE Profile.Note that without Linguistic Test Results and Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) results, Express Entry Profile cannot be created.Step 6:Once you have created and submitted your Express Entry Profile with a score of 440 or above, kindly initiate arranging required documents for the invite. Arranging certain documents will be cumbersome and time-consuming, hence it is advisable (highly recommended) to arrange the majority of them prior to receiving ITA.Following is the list of documents required;Passport/Travel DocumentLanguage Test ResultsECA ResultProvincial Nomination (If you have one)Reference Letters for current and past employmentPolice Clearance Certificate/s (for all those countries where you have stayed more than 6 months)Proof of Funds/Proof of Means of Financial SupportMarriage CertificateBirth Certificate of ChildEducational Documents (Diplomas/Degrees)Photographs (Digital)Legal Name Change/Difference Affidavit (If the name differs in documents)Medical Exam Proof (It is advisable to go for medicals after you receive the invite)Translation of Documents (if the document is in a language other than English)Translator’s Affidavit (Only if #14 mentioned above is applicable)For all the above-listed documents, the requirements are clearly mentioned on the following link;Applications for permanent residence programs subject to the Express Entry completeness checkStep 7:Scan all the above documents at a proper resolution (legible) to a laptop or desktop. Make sure the format of all documents is PDF with size less than 4MB.Digital photographs (35mm x 45mm) should be of JPEG/JPG format with an ideal size of 240 KB, but not less than 60 KB.Step 8:Once you receive the ITA, login to your Express Entry Profile and Accept the invitation. Upon acceptance, you will be able to see different tabs, where you have to provide detailed information of all applicants (including spouse and minor).Fill out all the forms with accuracy and authentic information. Make sure, you do not change any detail in the application which was provided earlier in Express Entry Profile. If required, take expert advice.Step 9:Get your medical examination done from a Panel Physician only. Check the below link about the list of Panel Physicians.Panel PhysiciansCall the hospital and take the appoint for medical examination. Medical of spouse and child/children is also required. Ask the hospital about documents required for medicals. You will have received a PDF in your EE Profile mailbox upon receiving the invite, which is a confirmation of your ITA. Take that print along with 3 passport copies (each applicant) to the hospital. You should also have a credit card/debit card handy in case if you wish to pay by card. The hospital will provide you with a ‘Medical Information Sheet’ for each applicant, which is required to be uploaded in the PR application. Do not forget to ask the hospital about this, as it is a mandatory document. The hospital may provide you with test results copy - upload that too. The hospital might not provide you documents to you on the same day of examination. They will mail you in 2–3 days.Step 10:Start filling out the forms of the PR application. Once you fill out all the forms, click ‘Next’. this will take you to a page where you will find tabs to upload documents for each applicant in your profile. If you have multiple documents (e.g.: Reference Letters from different companies), merge them in a single PDF and upload. If required, create a ‘Table of Contents’ at the first page and include ‘Page Separators’. This is highly recommended, as you would not want to confuse the Case Officer.Upload all your documents in corresponding tabs. Check multiple times whether you have uploaded the right document or not. Furnishing incorrect document may result in delay or sometimes rejection. You will get an additional tab for uploading the ‘Letter of Explanation’. This is a letter where you can clarify about any document if required. For instance, if there is a gap in your employment, explain it in this letter with justification. Keep this letter very short and use concise language.Step 11:Once you have uploaded all the documents, press the ‘Continue’ button, where you will be guided to the Fees Payment Page. Agree to the terms and conditions and click ‘Transmit and Pay’. Enter your credit or debit card details and that’s it - Your application is submitted.Following are the fees to be paid to transmit your application;Permanent Resident Application Fees - 550 CAD (for each adult in the application)Right of Permanent Residence Fee (RPRF) - 490 CAD (for each adult in the application)Permanent Resident Application Fees for Child - 150 CAD (per child)Step 12:Sit back and relax. Do not think much about ‘When I will receive the PR?’ It may take 1 month or may take 6 months for receiving PR depending upon the case. However, login to your EE profile frequently to know at what stage are you in.There are certain stages involved after submitting the application and paying the fees, such as ;eAOR - electronic Acknowledgement of ReceiptMEP - Medicals PassedBG IP(1) - Background Check in Progress for the first timeBG NA - Background Check Not ApplicableBG IP(2) - Background Check in Progress for the second timePPR - Passport Request email - Ready for VisaOnce the PPR e-mail is received, you will be requested to send the passport to the nearest VFS. The passport will be stamped and a COPR letter will be provided confirming that you are a Permanent Resident of Canada.Voila! You are ready to fly to your dream country.Elaborated Step 2 :CLB 7 is required to be eligible for Express Entry; however, CLB 7 does not give you enough points to qualify for the invitation. For CRS 440 and above, one needs to have at least CLB 9, i.e. 8777 (Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking) in IELTS General Training or 9 each in CELPIP-G. This will boost the CRS by 50 to 60 points.Important Note:I personally followed all the above steps to apply for Canada PR via Express Entry Programme (FSW) and did not contact any consultant. Majority of the consultants will charge hefty fees for this process and on top of it, they may commit a mistake while filing your application on your behalf. I strongly encourage you to apply by yourself. If your case is complicated and you need expert advice, contact only ICCRC or CRCIC approved consultants. You can find them over here https://iccrc-crcic.ca/If you want to increase your chances of getting ITA early, get CLB 9 or above in IELTS or above 9 each in CELPIP-G. This is the key to your high CRS. Higher the CRS, better the chances to be invited early. The second best option is PNP, which will give you 600 additional points.I wish you all the best for Canada PR Application.-Gaurang

What does "e-sign" mean?
E-sign is the abbreviation of the electronic sign, which is commonly used today for signatories to agree on a contract in digital form. Signatories can sign a contract on their mobile devices or PC remotely, and they don’t even need to meet. I worked for an e-sign platform start-up, so I have answered many questions from our customers like “Is e-sign act legal?”, “Why do we e-sign?” or “What’s e-sign’s pros and cons?”So, all the following information can be found and verified through the internet, and I just gather all the information for question askers. Is E-sign legally binding? The answer is Yes. Uniform Electronic Transactions Act (UETA) has been adopted by 47 states. The rest three states, Illinois, New York, and Washington have implemented their own regulation of the ESIGN Act. Therefore, it is commonly known that e-signatures and electric records are legally binding under the terms of this legislation. However, simply putting two name symbols on a document online does not make it legal. As UETA suggests, electronic signature processes should consider:- Authentication / Consent / Intent to be bound / Attribution / Security / Record Retention and so on.Why do we use e-sign?I was an international student, and I used to experience the hassle of the inconvenient in-person signing process. We used to spend a lot of time on making an appointment being there and signing, and if the one of ours wasn’t there, we will have to arrange another day to sign a leasing contract. However, e-sign allows us to sign most of the contracts at home. We just need to turn on our computer and use certain e-sign platform sending others the document which needs to be signed. Many industries have applied e-sign as a tool because that mailing an important contract is time-consuming, and it costs more money than sending a digital document. The sales team, real estate, and insurance have commonly applied e-sign platforms. E-sign platforms are like “witnesses”, helping signatories finish the signing process, but none of them would take responsibility for contract fraud or bsignNow.Pros:- Saves time & costs less money for delivery- Reduces sale cycles- Environment-friendly, paperless- Easy to store, won’t be damaged or lost.Cons:Since digital files are easy to be changed, and e-sign is not face-to-face signing action, many industries are still conservative about e-sign. For example, some lawyers said: people who want to bsignNow a contract would claim that it’s not him putting the digital signature on the contract. Because it is remote, there is no direct evidence to prove he is lying. Therefore, if you want to sign an important contract, please do not use the e-sign platforms that have no ID verification procedure. You will get a chance to be fraud.- E-signature fraud (denying/bsignNowing)P.SI am not a professional writer, but I am willing to answer questions that I know. Existing e-sign platforms are good, but they still have many potential flaws. Since I work in the industry, I know many e-sign platforms do not provide strong legal binding service or law support. E-signature is a new format of evidence, and it needs more development to fulfill rigorous scenarios, and to prevent e-sign fraud or bsignNow. If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to ask me.

What’s your "Oh my God I can’t believe this is happening" moment?
I was shocked to find a Police knocking my door at 3am.Yesterday (03/03/2019), I caught a local train after a very long day at work. I was worn out and really tired from the day’s work. The train was completely empty as it was originating from Andheri starting itself at 11:55pm.I was surprised to find a Mobile phone wrapped up in an ear phone wires on the seat.(Image for Representative Purpose, Source: Google)It was a high end Apple Mobile. I took it & looked for the owner in the Compartment but there was none. Few People did board the compartment but no one seemed to be looking for it. I pressed the Power button as to ascertain a clue about the owner. Phone was on but locked. I knew the original owner will definitely call as soon as they realised that they have lost their phone. But I didn’t receive any call. Finally I signNowed home at around 12:30 midnight. And fell asleep soon. At around 1 am I woke up to a call coming on the mobile which I had found. I was really tired but still I took the call to calm down the owner that it is in my safe hands. It was a girl at the other end.Girl: “Hello?”Me: “Yes, Hello.”Girl: “Listen this is my phone and I have lost it.”Me: “Yes, you are right. I found it in Train.”Girl: “Train?”Me: “Yes, Train.”Girl: “Anyways. I want my phone.”Me: “Yes Sure. Can you collect it tomorrow from my office in Andheri?”Girl: “No I want it now.”Me:” Now? See I was sleeping now when you called. I just took this call so that you can be at peace. Anyway can you come to M***?”Girl: “Can you come to Bandra?”Me: “What ? No. I am really tired and I am going to Sleep.”Girl: “Ok. Give me your Address”I gave her my address and told her to collect her Mobile from the Security guard. She agreed. She didn’t even Thanked me once. Anyway I handed over the phone to my Security and instructed him to give it to a girl named “***”. I went back to sleep. I had to explain everything to my wife who was awaken by the call. Now at Around 3 am my wife woke me up saying there is a Police constable at the Door. She was really scared. I calmed her down and went to ask the constable what’s the Matter. He said that i needed to come to Police station right now with him. I asked the Reason. He said it’s about the complaint of Mobile Theft against You. I said that she must have got it back by now from the security guard. He said yes they got the mobile back, but they are accusing me of Mobile Theft. I was shocked to the core. I agreed to accompany him. My wife also came along. This was the time I was thinking "Oh my God I can’t believe this is happening"As we signNowed Police station. I saw a lady and an older man sitting in front of a Police Inspector.Inspector asked me where I found her Mobile I said I found it in Local Train .He explained me that these people are accusing me of Mobile Theft because according to her she never took any train.I narrated the whole story to the Inspector. After hearing my side, Inspector very rudely told that girl to say sorry to me. She didn’t budge but her Father apologized to me saying that they were just paranoid how that mobile ended up in Train. I said for whatever reason it ended up in Train but you should not have harassed someone like the way they did and they should have been happy that they found their mobile phone.I turned to Inspector and told him “Sir, if you want to know the truth than go through the CCTV footage of the Train’s coach where I found this Mobile. You will get an Idea how it ended up there.” (I was travelling in that particular ladies coach where male are allowed after 11pm. It had CCTV cameras in it.)Listening to this that bloody girl got furious and started crying loudly. Something was amiss there. I don’t know the reason but she now knew she was travelling in Train that day and is Busted Now.Police Inspector thanked me for my sincerity and cooperation and thereafter I left the Police station in Peace. The girl was still crying and her father bashing her when I left. I don’t know what happened there after.I would like to Thank you all for taking your time and reading my answer. I am amazed by the reponse it's getting.I just shared my experience in simple language. I have no words to explain how much stressful the whole situation was. Just imagine police picking up a person at 3am. It was indeed a nightmare. I thought of the worst.Thank you all for interacting in the comments section. I would like to clarify few things:This incident has not to be against any gender specific person. It could have been a boy also instead of girl. Its not right to generalise that all girls are like that. It's not right to say that never to help anyone you could end up in problem. It's not true. Just one incident cannot change the whole concept. As many people has suggested that I should have handed that mobile to police or police station. I am sure that would have been the best solution but I was really tired that idea didn't cross my mind. Otherwise I could have handed over this mobile to RPF personnel right in the next section of Ladies First class. Next time I would suggest everyone to do it. We can always have faith in our police.
