What can Python do?
I saved $4.99/month by not buying an android app Cam-Scanner just to convert my documents into a pdf file. Background Recently i received my offer letter from a tech company in which i got placed.They needed my signature on the offer letter . I took the printout of the letter and signed it and used Cam-Scanner to get the pictures of the signed offer letter and combine them to form a single pdf document.The main problem was the watermark of Cam-Scanner on every single page as i was using free version. Also, i couldn’t use any online pdf converter as document was confidential. Then came an idea to my mind.Being a programmer i can write my own pictures to pdf converter too =D Solution I simply wrote a python script to load all the images from the directory, with some pre-processing and fpdf library available for python i combined the images to form a pdf document =D. Job is done !! PS: Already received the acknowledgement email from the company. Here is the python Script i wrote to get the job done.
from os import listdir from fpdf import FPDF path = "/home/alphaguy4/Downloads/Offer/" # get the path of images imagelist = listdir(path) # get list of all images imagelist.sort() pdf = FPDF('P','mm','A4') # create an A4-size pdf document x = 0 y = 0 w = 210 h = 297 for image in imagelist: pdf.add_page() pdf.image(path+image,x,y,w,h) pdf.output("Offer_Letter.pdf","F")
What are the best ways to redact a PDF?
Personally if it is highly classified I wouldn't use any form of electronic reactions on it's own.I would print off the pdf document, then proceed to use a permanent black marker to black out the confidential parts of the document. Then I would further tipex/whiteout the parts i marked with the black marker, then black parker ontop of the tipex/whiteout. This would be done on both sides of the page so you cannot pull it up to the light and see the words. After all this is done, I would scan the page transformation it back into a pdf then use signNow PDF “redact" feature to do a final reaction on the classified document.This may be overkill, but this ensures pretty much no one on gods green earth other then those privy to such information can/will know what is exactly enclosed in said document.Regards,Ash
