Have you ever walked out of a doctor's office because the doctor was being disrespectful to you?
I used to suffer from wicked migraines. Usually, when I would get a migraine, I would do everything I could to take care of it at home, going to the hospital only as a last resort because sitting in a hospital waiting room with a migraine is HELL!This one time, I had the migraine for a few days and realized that I was not going to be able to get rid of it on my own. My regular doctor was not available, so I had to go to another doctor. This doctor decided, without even examining me, that I was a drug seeker and instead of treating my migraine, he started giving me the third degree, asking all sorts of inappropriate questions about my past. I was confused as to why he kept asking questions that were either already in my records or simply not relevant. He led me to believe that he was taking over my care from my regular doctor.I was in so much pain that I could not think clearly enough to answer questions. When I responded to his questions with “I don’t know,” the doctor used that as “proof” that I was a druggie. He then said he was not going to give me a shot, but instead was going to keep me there for observation for a few hours. I was beside myself with pain and confusion. I was too sick to feel humiliated until later. When I told my driver (who is a retired doctor) what this jerk said to me, he said “If he’s not going to treat your headache, then let’s go.” I got up to leave and he caught me walking down the hall and said he was planning to treat my migraine. At that point I just wanted to go home, but I was in so much pain that I went back into the exam room. He then said he would give me a shot of XYZ drug. When I explained that my regular doctor would not give me that particular drug because of an adverse reaction to it I’d had previously, due to another Rx I was already taking for inflammation. The doctor said ok and left the room. The injection nurse came in with a syringe and as I lowered my jeans for the shot, I asked the nurse what the injection was. The nurse answered my question, just as the needle slid into my butt cheek .“It is XYZ drug.” The jerk of a doctor ordered the injection, even though I told him it was contraindicated according to my regular doctor. I was so completely demoralized by this situation. No person, addict or not deserves to be treated the way this jerk treated me. The following week, I reported the situation to my regular doctor. Her nurse was careful not to actually say anything, but still let me know that his behavior toward me and other women had been noticed and he was being watched.

Can you describe the day leading up to your surgery?
The day before surgery was spent in the car traveling; we got to our hotel around six, went to dinner at six thirty, and then went back to our room to relax before bed.I don’t usually sleep well in hotels, and that night was no different; I woke up at six in the morning (when we didn’t have to be at the surgery center until noon) and spent most of the morning on my laptop, watching a video of the procedure over and over and chatting with friends online while I tried to ignore how hungry I was. I wasn’t supposed to eat or drink past midnight, so by the time we left for the surgery center, my stomach was growling. My boyfriend didn’t help by eating a bunch of juicy strawberries in front of me and making loud “MMMM!” noises.Jerk.Since the hotel was only about twenty minutes away, and we wanted to make sure we got there in time, we left at eleven thirty and drove through the pouring rain to the surgery center. I had to bring a photo ID with me, which I gave to the secretary at the desk. They had me sign some consent forms and gave me my ID back, along with a sticky note with a five-digit code to give to my mom and boyfriend. There was a screen on the wall with a bunch of other numbers, and their surgical status listed beside them: “Pre-op”, “In surgery”, “Recovery room”, et cetera. I thought that was a nice way of keeping the family informed while protecting patient privacy. At twelve o’clock on the dot, I was called back to the prep room. I got weighed and had to give a urine sample, and the nurse got very excited about wishing me a belated happy birthday. She took me to one of the beds, which had a dressing gown, hair net, socks, and a bag for my clothes. She pulled the curtains around my bed and left me to get undressed. I had decided to take my jewelry out before we left the hotel since I didn’t want to risk losing it; the rest of my clothes went into the bag, which the nurse set under my bed.I got my blood pressure taken while the nurse asked me a bunch of questions. Did I smoke? Drink? Street drugs? Any allergies? Any chance of pregnancy? What medications? Was I on testosterone? Had I eaten after midnight? Was I allergic to latex? Had any bad reactions to anesthesia in the past? And so on. She got my IV hooked up to my hand and explained the sorts of drugs that would be put into my system later. She was very friendly and professional, and I could tell she’d done this a million times before; it was reassuring to know I would be in good hands.Around twelve thirty, she finished her questions and left to alert the anesthesiologist and bring my mom and boyfriend in to keep me company. They sat by my bed, and my boyfriend held my hand while we chatted.Twelve forty-five saw the anesthesiologist come in, and he asked a bunch of the same questions the nurse did before explaining in greater detail what putting me under would be like. After he finished, he said he’d get Doctor Medalie, and then it would be just a few minutes until my operation.Medalie came in at one, and my mom and boyfriend left while Medalie pulled my dressing gown down to draw on my chest. He marked where he’d do liposuction to help prevent dog ears, and measured my chest to make sure he’d have my nipple placement right, though he also added that depending on what my chest looked like when he was finished with the mastectomy portion, he might have to redraw and the marks he’d placed were general guidelines for now. He pulled my robe back on and I lay down on the bed to wait again. My mom and boyfriend came back in to wait, but five minutes later, two of the OR nurses were in, one of them going over another round of questions. Satisfied that everything was ready, they pulled up the railings on my bed, I said goodbye to my family, and then they wheeled me out to the operating room.I scooted from the bed to the operating table, which was T-shaped to hold my arms out to the sides during surgery. They stuck sensors on my back to monitor my vitals and explained that I would get a tube put in the back of my throat to help me breathe while I was asleep. As I lay down, I asked, “Do you guys get a lot of crucifixion jokes?” which got a few chuckles. Someone remarked that I must have a morbid sense of humor, and then a nurse was placing a mask over my mouth and nose and the IV in my hand began to burn from the start of the anesthesia. And then I woke up, feeling very fuzzy and lightheaded. Apparently I’d been drifting in and out of consciousness for a few minutes before waking up properly and kept repeating myself; according to my boyfriend, I was very eager to make sure he and Mom hadn’t been bored while waiting for me, I was very proud of my crucifixion comment, I was very hungry and wanted food, and I also asked the nurse about fifty times if she could say thank you to Medalie and his team for me.I was given some water to sip on and my mom helped me sit up, and then she helped me get dressed and I was wheeled to the car to go back to the hotel. She’d already been given my post-op care instructions in writing while I was still asleep, so it was time for me to get food and relax.

What are the interesting facts that most people don't know about being a medical student?
1) The most popular one first, a couple of people faint when they first see a cadaver. They quickly get over it and fight for a chance to dissect and coolly talk about movies and crib about studies as they try to identify a nerve or a muscle and so on.2) In physiology(1st year), for haematology experiments, they pierce their own fingers and perform experiments like measuring haemoglobin, RBC count, WBC count, blood typing etc. Sometimes, they do not draw the blood correctly, so they have to pierce their own fingers again & again (with a sharp pin called a lancet) it's very common to see Med students with small black marks over their index, middle & ring finger. I dreaded hemat practicals all through first year.3) there is a lot of studying to do. A LOT & then some. But if you think that we don't waste days studying nothing and procrastinating like other students, or study only important topics, then you are wrong. Yeah, we are supposed to know everything and we eventually manage to learn a lot, but not everything. We learn stuff that our seniors' say is important. We are humans and there is never enough time to memorise everything and apply it perfectly. No judging!4) In 2nd year, (microbiology), we learn to prepare stool smears. It's gross, smelly and funny to see your classmates' noses all wrinkled up & disgusted as they gingerly prepare the slides, making sure their coats are neat and running for the sanitisers.5) We brag about the rare cases we see during our clinical postings and the surgeries, the batch posted in surgery got to see. We hope for rare cases. The graver, the better.6) There are a couple of photo moments in MBBS. A pic with the bone set, preferably the skull. An actual human skull will be chilling at your desk or your bed and you wouldn't care, except wonder if you remember all of the 70 tiny holes in it and the structures passing through them.Another moment is when you get to see a surgery and you wear scrubs. Many people manage to click photos with the baby they saw being delivered, but I am not there yet.7) A lot of med students get involved in drugs, smoking and alcohol knowing its injurious to health. There's just too much pressure.8) We get to see a lot of breast and pelvic exams. That's overrated though. Patients usually don't want a guy to be around when there breasts are being palpated. Girls are at an advantage here. It's heart breaking to palpate for swollen lymph nodes in a cancer survivor or find a lump. I remember a patient had started to cry about what she'll tell her young kids who had gone to school when the doctor told her they had found a lump.9) girls, the patients will think you are a nurse, a lot of times. It'll irritate you but you are assumed to be a nurse until proven otherwise.10) on a lighter note, the dissection table is the place where a lot of love stories start. I really don't know whether it's the smell of formalin that makes you tear up or the fact that everyone practically stands as close to each other as they possibly can (with no sense of personal space) when the teacher is demonstrating yet another nerve or vessel or muscle.Note: still in second year, so I can't write about the exciting and nerve wrecking years ahead!

Can anyone help me understand Lorentz Transformation?
Galilean Transformation :Suppose , S & S' are two inertial frames of reference. S' which is moving with respect to S at the constant velocity v in the direction of X axis. Now, from S an observer find the co ordinates of some Event that occurs at time twhich are x,y,z. (Noted that, In physics Where & When it is happening ? This kind of data is called Event) Also, from S' an observer find the co ordinates of some Event that occurs at time t' which are x',y',z' .If the clock in both frames are stated when the origin of S & S’ coincide, measurements in the direction of X axis made by S frame will be greater than S’ frame & the amount is vt which is the distance S' has moved in X axis. Therefore, x' = x - vtAs there is no relative motion in Y & Z axis so y' = y & z' = zIn our everyday experience both observers from S & S’ will observe the event at the same time(Noted that, this statement is not applicable when v→c . It is only correct when v<< c )So, t' = tTherefore we get,So, velocity transformationVy' Vy & Vz' =VzEinstein’s Second postulate (invariance of c):-“As measured in any inertial frame of reference, light is always propagated in empty space with a definite velocity c that is independent of the state of motion of the emitting body. OR: The speed of light in free space has the same value c in all inertial frames of reference.”In Galilean Transformation, when we measure the speed of light in the X direction in S frame to be c . we obtain velocity transformation is c' = c - vTherefore it breaks Einstein’s Second postulate.Einstein's second postulate of relativity is general formula of universe and Galilean transformation is just a approximation of Einstein’s theoryLorentz transformation:Suppose, S & S’ are two inertial frame of reference. S’ which is moving with respect to S at the constant velocity v at X directionAccording to the second postulates, Both observer will measure the speed of light c . Thus for S frame , x = ct & for S’ frame , x’ =ct’Now, correct relation between x & x’ will be linear so that a single event in frame S corresponds to a single event in frame S’(if it is not linear, then there will be possibility of more relations & also imagenary relations) & also convert easily into Galilean Transformation which is correct for Classical Mechanics. Therefore, reasonable gauss about the nature of correct relationship is,As the eqn of physics must have the same form in S & S’, we need only to change the sign of v(-ve) as the relative motion is at opposite direction thus we can write the relation between x & x’ isNow,Again,So,Putting the value,&As there is no relative motion in Y & Z axis so, y’ = y & z’ = z

What are some of the best sales strategies for SaaS products? Is there anything you would avoid? What about timing with product
We arm ourselves with all of the sales and marketing tools below and our share price is outperforming all other public SaaS vendors over the last two years.Marketing AutomationFirst you need to be in the game - so you need a great marketing capability to get your name in the mix - so that buyers will contact you, so that buyers will have heard of you before you walk in the door (obscurity is thy enemy), so that you've got messaging that resonates with the buyers you're targeting. The internet has changed everything, your buyers know more about you and your competitors than ever before, and typically contact you a lot further through their buying cycle. If you're lucky they are reading your marketing messaging but they're most definitely reading social review websites, trawling LinkedIn, analyst reports. So of course, your market capability has to get in you in the game. All the capabilities are well known, SEO, Inbound, Outbound, A/B testing, Newsletters, Events, sales e-mail tracking, mass e-mail campaigns, chat agents, WorkFlows etc.. All these can be found in good Marketing Automation tools such as CallidusCloud, Eloqua, Marketo, Neo-lane.Territory & Quota ManagementAll these leads need to be assigned, therefore Territories need to be defined. To define acceptable Territories, sales will want to know they have sufficient opportunity and a quota that is achievable in that territory. Where you have unallocated territories (by accounts, geography or product, etc..) or over-allocated territories - you are leaking revenue and losing market share to competitors. You will need some kind of Territory & Quota management tool such as CallidusCloud or Anaplan.Sales EnablementOnce you have the leads and the first person contact, how do you ensure maximise lead to opportunity conversion? For this, your sales or business development team need access to the right messaging for each specific buyer (by industry, by size, by problem etc..) immediately. This is a field known as Sales Enablement and there are Enablement tools available to help your marketing messaging find the salesperson at the right time. Well known Enablement tools are CallidusCloud, Savo, Sharepoint.Configure, Price & Quote (CPQ)Now you have an opportunity, your buyer might ask you for a price. Sales needs to put together a solution, price the solution and then send out a proposal document. How familiar are the stories of salespeople copying/pasting proposals - not removing old customer names, getting the number of zero's wrong, selling solutions that don't exist or fit together, over-discounting - and taking a week to put together such a low quality document only to lose the opportunity. To avoid this waste of time and opportunity, you will need a Configure, Price, Quote or CPQ tool. Well known CPQ tools are CallidusCloud, Big Machines.Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM)Since you did a great proposal in CPQ, the customer is asking you for a contract and you may go through a substantial red-line process or you may have lots of data points in the contract that are needed to manage the contract for renewal processes, order fulfilment, upgrades, service utilisation. To avoid creating and tracking contracts manually everytime, which can be an administrative nightmare for legal, finance and sales. You will need a Contract Lifecycle Management tool. Well known Contract Management tools are CallidusCloud, Apttus.Incentive Compensation Management (ICM)The customer has signed the contract and happy days!!! Your salesperson, pre-sales engineer, sales manager, product over-lay are all expecting to be paid incentives. Gartner research found that up to 8% of sales compensation is in error. Not only is this a bottom line expense, sales lose trust in their compensation payouts, they waste time shadow accounting, they leave earlier, you need more FTEs to process all the claims and you get less $$$ for every $ of sales comp. You will need a Incentive Compensation tool, to control this process, increase transparency and drive behaviours that drive sales performance. Well known ICM tools are CallidusCloud, IBM.Sales CoachingThere is a lot to a sales process. A lot of objections to ovecome. A lot to learn. Even the best in their field have a coach. Tiger Wood's at the peak of his golfing powers had 400 lessons in a year. Tiger really needs a coach now but I bet you even Rory McIlroy needs a coach. Salespeople need a coach too. The folks who wrote the challenger sales, said that "effective coaching" for 3 hours or more a month delivers a 17% uptick in quota achievement. That's great. Trouble is, who's coaching the coaches so they're effective? You will need a Sales Performance Manager tool to help managers coach and help the managers to coach more effectively. Well known Coaching tools are CallidusCloud SPM, iCoach.Mobile LearningTaking a salesperson out of the field for the proverbial week's training - you lose a week's selling, sales take time to get back into the rhythm when they return and then forget most of their training within 3 weeks anyway. Provide point of need training with mobile learning so that sales can refresh knowledge before they call a lead, before they walk into a meeting, as they prepare a quote in the field. Well known Mobile LMS tools are CallidusCloud Litmos or Cornerstone.Customer ExperienceThe time from first touch on your website to first contract and then first renewal is a long time. What is perhaps most important of all is to obtain customer feedback continuously along the way. Customer feedback helps you refine how you go to market or go to customer as they say these days. For that you will need a Customer Survey tool. Well known survey tools are CallidusCloud Clicktools and Survey Monkey.Thats a lot of tools and all of them are complementary to CRM. CRM is customer relationship management and is used to track activity and pipeline for management purposes - helps salespeople focus their time - but it doesn't help them sell better. All of the above tools integrated to your CRM provide you a more complete view of the customer and sales activity. The questions for each sales and marketing organisation are:- Can your budget afford all these tools?- How many different RFPs do you want to commit to?- How many tools from different vendors do you want to integrate? - How many suppliers do you want to contract and manage with?

How did you turn your perceived limitations in life into your personal power?
My parents separated when I was 2 or 3 years old.My mom single-handedly raised both my brother and I. To financially support the both of us through our secondary and higher education, she worked extremely long hours, running her business from the moment we left for school until late into the evenings. When other classmates and friends got picked up by their parents and siblings, I would take the public buses to go home alone. When my teachers required both parents to sign certain documents or forms, I would have to awkwardly explain why I couldn’t get my father’s signature. When parent-teacher conferences came around, I felt torn to ask my mom to attend a meeting that she would not understand (she did not speak a word of English), and hurt to know that the two-hour commitment meant another late night at work for her.Early into my middle school career, my brother would be expelled from school. He would leave home and attend boarding school abroad, just as I entered into my phase of teenage angst, curiosity, and growth. His reputation in school left me with a reputation of my own. I would carry the weight of his actions with me throughout middle and high school. For as long as I could remember, I believed that my family and my childhood were my limitations. I grew up not really having a brotherly or fatherly figure, and not believing that I understood what it meant to be “happy” and to have a “happy” family.I was wrong.First, I learned to be independent. Having done everything on my own, I developed the confidence to take leaps of faith in myself, to try things that I might initially think to be out of my signNow. I traveled across the world (from Thailand to New Hampshire in the US) to attend boarding school. Upon completing secondary school, I packed my bags and headed to New York City, where I just completed my undergraduate degree at NYU, and will begin the early stages of my career.Second, I learned to let go. In high school, I came to recognize that there are things you simply cannot change. No matter how much willpower, how much time and energy, or how much money I throw at myself, I cannot change my childhood, the way I was raised, or the impact it might have had on my psyche. I can only learn to live above those things, and move forward with a stronger mind and spirit. This attitude helped me cope with failure, with loneliness, with depression, and will continue to serve me well in times of crisis.Last but not least, I learned my raison d’être. As I grew older, I came to realize just how much my mother sacrificed in order to provide for me the life that I have lead. There is truly nothing that compares to a mother’s love for her child, and this has given me much motivation and inspiration to push forward and live the best life that I can live. Today, she is one of my best friends, a confidante I trust, and someone who continuously believes in me before I ever do. I still draw on her wealth of knowledge and wisdom, and apply her views onto my own to make decisions for myself going forward.Thank you for reading! To all the single mothers (or fathers) out there, you rock, and thank you for all your hard work and efforts for your child. He or she may not appreciate it for years or even decades to come, but I hope that they will come to appreciate all that you do for them. To my own mom, I love you, and I am glad you are happy, because I certain am moving towards that.

When soldiers are captured and "questioned" for intelligence, is torture assumed?
There are numerous international treaties regarding the treatment of prisoners of war. That said, it’s entirely dependent upon who is being captured, and by whom. Those who march under terrorist organizations and that are not part of a uniformed military in service of a nation that signed any of the treaties don’t have the same protections as those who do. They still generally fall in accordance with UN and Geneva conventions, but the conventions treat actual military members in actual militaries very differently. Likewise, they also aren’t privy to following the rules themselves. That’s why someone who is captured in, say, Syria, shouldn’t just expect to only be tortured, but to also be brutally murdered. The capture of these poor and unfortunate souls, however, is generally not about information. While they will beat whatever information they can out, prisoners of the Islamic State, or any similar outfit, usually only serve the function of financing or for the display and glorification of the Islamic State. By that, I mean that they were either taken with hopes of ransom or to display the brutality of the regime in hopes of drawing future fanatical recruits. Information gathering is actually quite low in their priorities when prisoners of war are the main consideration.Whereas if one of the terrorists were to be captured by the United States or its allies, they shouldn’t expect to be treated in the same way as uniformed soldiers either, though obviously nothing like what they would do if the situations were reversed. In the past, forms of non-lethal and non-injurious torture were permitted for these people under both the Bush and Obama presidency, and it has been noted that President Trump was in favor of the techniques, as well. Examples are waterboarding, where someone is bound in such a manner that water is poured on their head in such a way as to induce the pathological response to drowning. This was always performed by trained interrogators and not your first hand Marine in the field, so there was little real danger, other than psychological, but the technique was considered very controversial both in regards to its severity (relative to American sentiment, not relative to the conduct of the enemy) as well as its effectiveness. As I mentioned, President Trump favored continuation of the practice by trained interrogators until Secretary of Defense and former United States Marine Corps Commandant General James Mattis recommended that he reconsider it, because of how rarely it worked. He found, in leading Marines in Iraq and Afghanistan, that better intelligence was usually gained more through relationship building and bribery. If your aim is just to get the information, it’s a cheaper way to go.Given that, being captured by the Americans, is still the preferable alternative to fighting them.***Thank you for reading.
